Trophies are pointless. Trophies wont give you anything. They dont unlock anything. Just play the game for fun till you beat the game. Thats it! Why would anyone go and collect any trophy before finished a game. Trophies are there when you beat the game and have nothing else to do. then you can go and try to collect trophies. but dont think about trophies before you beat the game. it ruins the game.

Yup, that's why I stopped. When playing turns to work it's not playing a game anymore. Also, it is really completely useless. Back on older gens you beat a game on the hardest difficulty or beat a mission under a certain time and you got something. Not a stupid trophy or score more like a hidden character, levels, weapons, cheats, artworks, skins, unlocking dozen of multiplayer stuff, secret ending - fun endings, or whatever. The point is, you got something for the game when you did challenges. Now you get nothing besides games they are designed for useless achievements to cover their very very very short games for extra playtime and the cool rewards are behind DLC paywalls. Today you pay for costumes and don't unlock them

@@uimasterroshi171 mm, i dont understand the thinking behind the trophy system. i get a trophy after playing through the tutorial for example. i should not get a reward for something that is easy to do. the only game i tried to get some trophies was overwatch. kill all 6 players in one ultimate as reaper for example. it would be more fun to get something after you unlocked that trophy. a player skin that is locked behind that trophy. people are collecting trophies to brag about it to feel good about themselves.

@@andrer4508 Very old and very easy mental manipulation. That little pop-up triggers the reward center in the brain. It gives you the good feeling of achievement besides it was not one. Hey you! Yes! You awesome guy! you finished the tutorial here have some gamerscore....yeahhh your incredible.... And people fall for that and get addicted to hunting the others. It was back a good idea but it got completely devalued. There are games that need hundreds or thousands of hours to complete all trophies and other 30 Minutes..... ( Star ocean 4 I look at you asshole) Back on the 360 Indie games got 200-400 Points max and now you get 2000 and more. There is zero balance that devalues the entire system of comparing with other players. So yeah, fuck it! my reward center just triggers when the game itself gives me a reward and unlock something

@@uimasterroshi171 its weird that i never felt anything getting trophies.maybe because i am older and grew up with nes games that didnt have trophies. i heard a funny story. in sea of thieves, you had to collect 500 or something barrels to get the last trophy. he was a couple of barrels away to get it. the developer patch the game so only 5 was needed to get that trophy. so he collected way more barrels then that needed in the end.=)) . what a waste of time.

I recently got into collecting trophies, and one thing I never understood was buying cheap games just for a quick platinum. Sure you got a platinum, but a platinum is something you should be proud of, and how can you be proud of taking the easy way out for a quick platinum? To me, platinum hunting is about the journey, not the destination. After all, games are meant to be fun.

I enjoy collecting Trophies/Achievements. It's fun to compare them with friends and see what they have and you don't and vice versa. I agree with you on the ones that are too time consuming or near impossible. I do believe they add replayability to games.

radarcannon yeah I compare trophies to my friend's on occasion but as you said a large part of trophy hunting does come down to time restraints

its only worth it if the platinum trophy has 2% and lower or if the platinum trophy gives you some kind of reward

I love getting trophies, and the for the people that don't care you can turn off the notification from the options

A sense of completion is amazing. More value and fun details out of your games is always a win. And obviously... The FLEX. All understandable reasons as to why people hunt. I’m more casual and only hunt for the games that I adore, but I totally respect anyone who goes above and beyond for these.

It definitely provides a sense of achievement! I look at the trophies at the beginning of a new game and if doable I attempt them all 👍

Pointless to me you don’t get rewarded for it just the satisfaction of getting them.

Of course it's pointless. Of you don't think it is - you're not very intelligent. This is coming from someone who enjoys getting some trophies.

I looked this up because I was thinking if this was a waste of time because I got my account banned and I had hours upon hours of trophies invested into that account and now it's all gone and to be honest none of my friends really care how many platinum trophies i got so that's why I don't really know if it's worth it or not but the truth is if it makes you happy then do it do whatever makes you happy

Most of psn doesn't care about the trophies. They just images after all.

Online trophies are the worst especially when the surver has been shut down

for me the exception games to platinum are like AC 2 horizon games , skyrim , fallout 4 resuming only single player games with 3 or 4 dificulty and no missing or pointless collectables trophies , for me online trophies are pointless and dumb its prevents enjoyability

i have had so many psn accounts it makes me very sad in terms of trophies. iv had 3 accounts at level 19 and a few more with hard plats... currently starting again on a new account... pray for me jesus.

Matropolis I bet because they kept on making too many mistakes by violating SOE Terms of service they probably kept fighting with other users

I started to attain trophies and platinums because of Sony rewards. You get points added to your account for being a good game achiever. This leads to getting free blu-rays etc.. That's a main reason why I try to attain them. I just love to game, and finishing one is rewarding.

I've been looking around and can't find anyone that does PlayStation trophies or other figurines that are 3d printed as the figurines that are available are expensive or only found in collectors editions. I'll have to keep looking haha

I think trophies are great, at least in my case. I like to collect trophies, I find that to be a big part of the enjoyment of a game for me, they get me to do things I usually wouldn’t do, go places I usually wouldn’t go, experience things I normally won’t get to experience. Anyway, just my opinion. :)

Interesting mate. Will be honest on the ps4 I have no interest with the trophies but on the xboxone achievements I am, the xbox360 back in the day was awesome and played it to death that's prob why I have a soft spot for it lol..

I love trophys I am at a level 21 on ps4 working on my 8th plat right now I only need two more trophies for skyrim

i grinded the trophies for oblivion... it was so depressing and boring yet i think its my proudest one... shame it was on a long dead xbox account. one day i will have all the games complete on one account!! congrats on skyrim bro. i plan on doing it sometime too.

Sort of agree that they are pointless for us now. But I know for sure a 14 year old gashead steve would have loved collecting them :)

I don't know why I've always preferred the Xbox achievements to PlayStation trophies. I think they both offer more replayability for games so that's a good thing.... but for many of us we just ain't got the time to replay games.... I aint got time to play them once let alone twice lol 😂

It’s not pointless it’s like saying you play with your friends online, what’s gonna be the point of doing that, because you won’t gain anything out of it, because you can do the same thing again many times, it’s pretty much considered a hobby whether if you get anything or not, so I’d recommend do what best suits you
