TRONA PINNACLES - Milky Way, Landscape, and Film Photography in the California Desert

Ғылым және технология

The Trona Pinnacles were my first stop in an astrophotography road trip throughout the California Desert. Milky Way, landscape, and film photos were my focus whilst gallivanting around this arid terrain.

would be cool to see the rocks without the loss of damage around. from the passing of time. and maybe a construction of what they might have looked like. before they started to crumble.

Came out nice for your first video, visited Trona yesterday to see if I could get a pano of the MW arch with the pinnacles on my way back from Death Valley but think it’s too late. Just bought the Skyguider pro last week and noticed you used a laser pointer, is this the kit from MSM. I was thinking of getting it to assist in polar alignment.

Hi there, the laser pointer I used was just a generic laser pointer I got from Amazon. I just pushed it up against the Skyguider Pro's alignment scope, and that works well enough to get it pointing roughly in the right directly. I then made fine adjustments while looking through the scope. If I ever get a star tracker from MSM, I'll definitely get the laser pointer accessory, as well. It would definitely be helpful!

Thanks, I don’t know what tracker you have but MSM has a kit for the ioptron Skyguider Pro which screws on the back of the polar alignment scope which I ordered, they also make it for certain models of Sky Watcher models. I also picked up the right angle viewfinder from them, now I just need to take it out for my first time and figure it out. 🙂

Ah, understood. Yeah, a proper attachment would probably be better than me just holding the laser up to the scope, but my method still more or less works. I actually just picked up the right angle viewfinder, as well. Haven't had a chance to use it yet, but I'm looking forward to it. I wonder if I point my laser through the right angle viewfinder, will it still help me align with Polaris? I might have to give that a try.

I think it would work but you would have to be more critical lining up laser in the right angle view finder. It seems I go to a lot of the same places, maybe run into you one day, want to really check out White Pocket.

Nice! If I could advise, bring the music down even further during the moments you’re speaking. You’re the subject matter in those moments and the music should elevate you, not detract. Again, very nice first vlog and EXCELLENT photos!
