Honestly, awesome advice for ANYONE: Don't be afraid to ask for what you're worth, take advice from people who have been doing it longer than you, put yourself out there and take risks, and take the time to get to know everyone around you. You don't need to be a drag queen to benefit from this biological woman.

I'm 65. I've gotten my best advice from Trixie.
I used to struggle with receiving constructive criticism from older women as well, and it's true that the defensiveness stemmed from insecurities. It's weird but, yes, sometimes pple are just being nice. Solid advice Capitalist Barbie

Yeah, "I already know that I suck, I don't need to hear that from other people too". And when you have a modicum of belief in yourself, then even harsh criticism is just words other people says.

Yes but also this can be a double edged sword. Some women have weird views of other women, especially older women. So you really need to guess for yourself and think about whether that specific person actually has your best interest in mind.
@no_peace
Жыл бұрын
@@fart63 my problem has been that my values don't line up with other people's so their advice (like when i was younger) was stupid and it was hard to tell what was because of values/generation/etc and what i needed to accept and get over Like not a great example but my stupid aunt and cousin are super critical a lot of the time and ignorant boneheads most of the time. So I was 16 or so wearing all black with raccoon eye makeup. At different times they told me my clothes don't make me look thinner (helpful advice!!!) and if you line your whole eye it makes your eye look smaller. Like shut up lol.

The part about befriending everyone works really well across the board too. The building where I work has a porter, and I made sure to introduce myself to her, to the cleaning staff, etc in a casual way. You'd be surprised how many doors that opens, not mentioning creating a nicer atmosphere.

My friends who do drag more often keep telling me I should enter a pageant. My excuse is that I don’t have money to get a full package together. Their response was “girl, people can sponsor you, bars will sponsor you, just talk to them.” Between these two videos, it’s made me think of how much of a complete package I already am and how I am ready to take the next step, I just need to act.

"Don't be arrogant, but be observant and confident and know what you are worth!" I mean, that mindset and advice (which isn't a quote, but more distilling all this advice) could have changed all my 20s.

I hope Trixie reacts to this year's popular toys because I'm obsessed with those videos
that wig and dress are EVERYTHING.
Let's be real, Trixie did this short video because she was preparing for a gig and took one look at her finished hair and makeup and was like, the gurls need to see this on video. This wasn't a video for new queens, this was a video for Trixie.

Trixie always looks so beautiful in black
the rich aunt main look versus the hippie pink barbie sponsor look is giving range
Honestly there is no way Trixie will ever see this, but like most of the success that I’ve had in drag (especially for being so new) is because of this type of advice. Literally hyping yourself up and walking in and asking “Would you do a show here?” or just being kind and introducing yourself to everyone. These things can give you such a freakin jump in drag. 🖤
Looking stunning btw, I'm not doing drag but I live for the girls. Most of these mistakes can happen for everyone at any point, I remember when I was younger, the fear of humiliation was so much that I missed out so many thing. Love your videos💜
I am OBSESSED with the look in this video. The hair and the outfit are everything
Trixie don’t get wrong I love your normal 60’s vibe but you in a black chic little dress is so fierce. Do these kind of looks more often!!
Ugh yes I love these types of videos Trixie has been doing lately. She's like an older sister giving advice
I worked at a gay bar for three years and can confirm the last element Trixie mentioned. Befriend EVERYONE. I was booked for pride as a dancer and would make 600.00 in two days.
trixie looks soooo gorgeous in this vid the blouse is so flattering and the hair is everything
these videos are so helpful to me as a drag artist who’s just starting out! no one really makes content like this and getting tips and tricks of the trade from someone who it’s actually paid off for is very valuable!!
This black top with sheer sleeves is absolutely S T U N N I N G 🙌💯
The mouth spit, is giving me life
i have never wanted to look like Trixie more😍
I really appreciate these videos as someone who's very new to drag (I live in the middle of nowhere in rural Ireland so most of this doesn't apply to me as a queen with no access to shows but it's helpful to be prepared so thank you!) Btw your makeup has been really beautiful lately, like this is the most fully realised and perfected Trixie makeup and I love it.
This is incredible advice for any artist. I can completely see how all of this translates to my art form. Thanks Auntie Trixie!!
Can I just say how much Trixie's décolletage truly pops with this outfit? Stunning!
You look amazing!!! So stunning I screamed when I saw the thumbnail
As a baby queen I appreciate these kind of videos so much
The way Trixie's eyes in the beginning were so far apart and tiny and now it's like cyclops, it makes me feel like I'm screwing around with a Sim's eyes in CAS in the Sims 4 lmao
I love this look. It's like an opera diva on her day off 😍
This video came at the perfect time for me! Very recently I changed from never daring to dream of being a drag king to finally daring! I haven't done anything yet other than the first couple makeup tutorials, but it's so nice to hear this advice from such a qualified queen.
having been a fan of trixie since i first saw her on season 7 and looking at her now and the absolute world superstar she’s become feels so crazy, but i am SO proud of her and how far she’s come through her hard work and effort!!

I’m sorry but Trixie looks so fish in this video, she’s stunning.
This video is just great life advice! Be nice to everyone can apply in any field- I always say be nice to the interns because you will be asking them for a job one day and nice to the executive support because they keep the trains running.
ok but she looks incredible today, literally gorgeous
Great advice for all performers, not just drag! Thank you :)
These are really great tips that apply to new burlesque dancers as well! Thanks for sharing Trixie!
Omg that pink wig!!! You didn't have to snap THAT hard lol...love it and love you girl 😘 💗
She is serving Battlestar Galactica realness with this Tricia Helfer look!
#3 is so true, just for life in general. I think so many of us have received unsolicited, out of touch advice from the older people in our lives that we are either aggressive to their advice, or just ignore it. But, as you get older, you realize that some advice is genuine and helpful and you can learn to let your guard down a bit, or take advice in better faith.
This video is not just about drag, it’s about everything in life! For me this was the essence of all the life lessons i’ve had for my entire life🥰 Thank you queen🌹🌹🌹
I didn't expect to see Rock M and Sharron in the same video but now I'm liking it.
Hon, you did it at the time that was meant for you, look at your success! there's a season to everything boo.
I really love your style and vibe. Wish I had this kind of make up talent and style!
I absolutely LOVE this outfit and wig on Trixie. It’s a very sophisticated look.
2:40, your humility is remarkable.😍
A lot of this advice is applicable to so much in life!!
Taking advice from veterans in your field is just smart!
Omg that pink and white wig (and outfit tbh) is EVERYTHING!!!! That just woke me up and made me excited to be alive again! ❤
The hair and black sheer top in this video are STUNNING, Miss Trixie!
Seriously though, Im 18 and thinking about getting into drag or at least makeup/clothing artistry. This advice is amazing.
This video gives valuable information that people can apply to things in their life other than drag
LOVE this lewk, its giving a little Ru w the wig and I live!
That hair is everything 😍😍😍 If I could pull off blonde that’s how I’d need it done
This is wise advice for anyone, not just drag performers. So much of it can be translated to any profession. Well done ❤.
Looking quite classy and lovely today 🥰 I wish I could do drag, but I have none of the skills or confidence 😅
Trixie looks SO beautiful here. The hair, the makeup, the top (dress?). My dream look.
So crazy that Trixie was able to get Jennifer Coolidge to play her in this!
I’m not a drag queen but when you were talking about listening to lord experienced people when you were young instead of being sensitive. I relate to that! Just with other seasoned makeup artists etc just in life lol.
Love it!! Could u maybe make more vids about ur early drag career? Like the worst gigs, or the best, and just the journal you had along the road before drag race?
Shout out to that black number and blonde wig. They both wore Trixie very well. 😍
Trixie, continue to use dark colours in your wardrobe, you look stunning.

This look is everything to me
Trixie as Roxie Hart! The name on everybody's lips is gonna be Trixie!
this mesh dress is giving
this is such an interesting video i love hearing about trixie’s process and the way she thinks abt her art sooo cool
I'm married to a stand-up comic and all of this sounds like what he says to young comics! It's a parallel universe--hustling to figure out who you are, establish a following, book the money jobs, etc, etc. I had no idea, but it makes so much sense.
I cant stress it enough...if you are doing ANY type of creative/entertainment work.....NEVER agree to work solely for "exposure". You and the work you do are worth money. And worth probably more money than you initially believe you are. No matter how skilled you are, no matter how popular you are, please....make sure you get paid for your time and effort. You're giving something NO ONE ELSE ON EARTH can give.
i love trixie being like don't do these things i did (that made her arguably the most successful drag queen in the biz) ❤❤ love it.

Yesssss exactly what I needed today
this is all incredible advice. Im lucky to be in a smallish drag community where we can share advice and critiques with little drama or pushback. Also i would say if you have a unique idea that no one else is doing, like an all food themed show or an Ashnikko ablum drag show, just do it. I have been doing drag for less than a year and i got a show at my local queer bar because i came in not long after they reopened after the chaos and brought in a plan for a cartoon themed show and now its a monthly show and one of my favorite things about drag.
Trixie looks so gorgeous in black, and that wig is beautiful!
Thank you for these type of videos! As a young lesbian baby drag queen these are so helpful
This is actually REALLY helpful
I honestly LIVE for the video editor dragging Trixie through the mud
The "make friends with everybody" thing works in all environments. Carry this into your day job, y'alls. I'm a friendly person naturally (maybe/definitely overly so) BUT not everyone is and I'll even make those people my friends just by insisting on saying hi and joking with them. It helps your work day to be more fun but also, you'd be surprised about how far that can go towards getting your job done. Sometimes people will just do you a solid bc they like you...make sure to do solids for other people too...both go a long way.
