Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Hey Everyone,
Ageeessssss back (if the Jubilee flags and the blonde hair didn't already give that away!), I borrowed a Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Explorer.
Of course one of the first things I wanted to do was go and show pops!
In this vlog, Usernamedad shares his first impressions of the Tiger 1200 GT Explorer!
I hope you enjoy it!

I’m loving the ego-free relaxed delivery by you both. It’s refreshing, informative and slightly addictive to listen to you talking sense without “ladspeak “.. Thank you
So good to see Usernamedad again. I did wonder if I might regret watching this video, as I've had 3 x Tigers over the last few years, and test rode the new model but didn't like the new engine. I decided to see what all the fuss was about surrounding the GS. Long story short, I ordered a GS TE yesterday!
Having owned a couple of GS including the 1250 GSA, for me the tiger is a better option. Really didn’t like the lack of feedback thru the bars that come with the front damper on the GS. It’s the Triumph for me 😊

i had a r1250 gsa hp and rode the new 1200 triumph they have fixed a lot of what was wrong with the old bike i.e heat from engine, weight 45lbs lighter, and a bit more powerful, its a better bike than a bmw the trumpet gearbox is so much nicer to use than the bm, the bm when coming up behind lorries on the m\way is affected by dirty air it can get in to a gentle weave and no theres nothing wrong it, my 1200 triumph had it three years never did this.all the road test experts cannot give an opinion on the headlight because they go home before it gets dark. i really cant get excited about hill hold but thats just me.
Thanks for the upload, love it.
Awesome video Kate! I hope you are feeling much better! Your fathers perspective is always appreciated. Please thank him for his service for me. My father was military as well. To me it comes down to a couple of things, first the engine. The triple does have a lovely sound. The boxer is iconic to many. I purchased my GS primarily because the dealer is only a fifteen minute ride. And it is an awesome dealership. The triumph dealer is over an hour away. I can’t say enough about my bike. I just about have her customized the way I want her. I rode 233 miles yesterday and 228 today. The Fall colors are amazing this time of year. I wish I could ride again tomorrow. Advice I would give is to take everything into consideration. I do not feel you could go wrong either way. Best!
Great to see your your Dad out Kate. I also have a 1250 gs 22 model, fully loaded. I really think the Triumph have made a great bike for the price, but I also prefer the Gs , for the telelever suspension and glorious 143NM of torque. It’s a bike you can leave in six gear going slowly and an overtake just roll the throttle on and your passed. I have had a Triumph Tiger 1050, and the engine and handling was also excellent .Great blog Kate🏍🇸🇪🙏❤️👍
Another awesome video. Definitely keep this up. 50K will be here shortly then so will 100k subs. The is real content and real opinions. Top class.
Username Dad's spot on . The BMW GS TE is a work of art. If I had the space I'd have one in my living room just to look at. (funny thing is I'm not even joking) Great episode , more like this please.

What a quality review, genuine people, thanks very much for your video. 👍👍👍👍👍
I'll go for the Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Explorer anytime, love the look and functionality! By the way, great interaction with your dad!!!
Love your dad and his views Kate, I found the blind spot mirrors detection good on my Swiss trip on motorways, wish more bikes have them tourers anyway. Found the seat very comfy, but as I told you I’ve never ridden a GS, gonna have to change that 😂 I loved the 30lt tank and got 360 miles on a tank. To only fill up 6.5 times to Switzerland and back was a breeze. Suspension was great just having auto preload and being able to soften or harden on the fly. Great vid 👍
I went to a shop to look at a Ducati, and my wife said, "please try that Triumph 1200 GT Pro." I did and wow was I impressed, came home with it. Absolutely love this bike, it is a 23, it was used with less than 5k miles, out the door was around 14k USD. The Triumph 1200's are really a smoking deal used. Everyone wants the GS, which is good don't get me wrong, but it really helps us used bike purchasers.
I think both bikes are more than capable for the average rider , looks and features are very similar, so it does come down to manufacturers preference, would have to be the tiger for me , great vlog guys 👍🏻

Really enjoyed the video. On the specific question of blind spot warning: I'm all for it. I've ridden the Multistrada with it on and I found it genuinely was useful....but I also loved the adaptive cruise control too, that took so much effort out of long motorway schleps. I've got it in my car as well and use it extensively, so maybe I'm used to it. Almost can't believe the Goldwing doesn't have it in all honesty, it's well suited to that bike, and the DCT box.
Totally enjoy the “User Name Kate & User Name Dad” videos. I’m with the “Dad” preference of a GSA. Let’s give a round of applause to “Kate” for vloging a superb video on this interesting comparison. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏/ out of 10 👍🏼
Nothing like the GS!! Love the seat netting on the GS!!
It’s a family affair, this love of bikes! My late father loved his BMW boxers and I’m enamoured by them as well. No need to jump the fence. Great review Kate!
Great informative review, and the only one I can see that mentions the manual screen adjustment. My current FJR screen is electronic. I am test riding the Tiger GT Explorer this week and will prepare the FJR for sale. It's too heavy and difficult to maneuver for me know as I broke both my arms last year making them weaker, better brakes on the Tiger too. The GS is a little under-powered for me and I'm not keen on the boxer engine. Thanks Kate.
Researching a GS as the next bike and loved this relaxed chat on it. I guess it is subjective at the end of the day, but not being a huge bloke, I think the GS makes so much more sense with the lower weight profile.
What a great video. I’m with your Dad ( I am that Dad as well 😂). I had the old gen 3 Tiger which was great but heavy up top. My new GS is all down low on the weight and with the grunt. Best bike in the world 😊
Kate I own the only GT Explorer in the USA right now. The Triumps weighs less, has more HP and doesn't have the wide boxer engine in the way. Triumph Tiger GT Explorer ALL day!!! I'm loving it!!!
Father and daughter time is priceless..great video and I side w Dad here..GS is just the business all around…
Thanks for this informative overview most helpful. I currently run the previous generation Tiger and now looking to replace it. The Tiger GT Pro is the more equivalent spec to the GS TE and is around 2.5k cheaper? anyway having recently test rode both I have became very indecisive…….big dilemma 😢
As ever very nice vlog Kate. One point tho: we’ve seen so far, Usernamekate, Usernamemike, Usernamedad, Usernamesis……one important member is missing, where is Usernamemum 🤣 have a great weekend. Big thumbs up, waiting for the next👍👍🇳🇱
Great wee video. Good energy fun and well put together. Both are great bikes. I think for me reliability and servicing costs would have to come into play as both bikes are really well matched.
Love love love you and your dad in these videos. Now, which bike? I am not a died in the wool anything. For me it's all about the shop. I used to ride BMW's but changed to triumph because the shop offered more services. Any one that ask what I think about a particular bike they are interested in I will ask what the shop offers. I don't think anyone is building a bad bike now days.
Having had a couple of tiger 800’s I looked at the explorer & ended with the GSA 1250. For me the nimbleness of such a big big bike, weather protection from the sizeable front profile, cracking deal from my local motorad dealer in Plymouth, low down weight & grunt of the engine configuration. It carries my sup board & can’t really feel the weight hanging on the side. When it comes time to change I think it’ll be another GSA unless something comes out significantly better. Everyone says single side swing arm is heavy, but not by a noticeable difference (ask Ducati/Guzzi) & I love the no maintenance shaft drive. 6.5k miles this year & still love riding it.
What a cracking father daughter vlog, both bikes look 👌. Definitely a fan of those standard items on bikes that us mortals would expect but certain manufacturers charge as extras which annoys me a lot. I've not had the chance to ride either but personally both to tall for my short legs 😀 . Cracking bikes tho. Take care stay safe 🏍 👍
Hi Kate. I have a 1200 Trophy and an 800 Tiger. The heated grips on the Trophy are activated by a rocker switch on the control block, really easy to operate. That button on the grip, on the Tiger is a pain, especially with gloves on. I really like the new 1200 Tiger but being in our mid 60's convincing my wife to buy into it would be a hard sell. She likes the rear seat comfort of the Trophy. I'm not going to give up though, next spring I will have her sit on one, then go from there. All the best.
After riding both bike's for day's the choice was easy for me. The GS is an old slow and heavy bike. The Triumph is so much more fun to ride! And the seat on the Triumph is the best seat i ever had. For me its all about the feeling when riding a motorcycle and in my opinion the Tiger is way better than the GS on every level 🙏👍😃
Say Hi, Dad. “Hi, dad 😆” Username Dad got the dad jokes!! I love it! Great video. Both bikes are fantastic, but I’m going to look at BMWs this weekend. I’ve always wanted one. There’s just something about the GS and GSA that captivates me. I’d love to see more with usernamedad. Very cool!
I have ridden both and ultimately purchased the Triumph. I know the stated power numbers of both bikes but the triumph just feels like it has alot more. Also the Truimph has 10,000 mi service intervals to the BMW's 6,000 mi.
I’m with dad on this the beemer just beats it. The boxer is just a wonderful bit of engineering and it’s low down cog is the way forward with these tall heavy bikes.
Blind spot monitoring sounds good on paper, another safety feature. I found out in practice it still depends on the drivers awareness. Just the other day I was passing a car at less than 45 miles per hour with my motorcycle. The car's blind spot monitor on their mirror went bright yellow and they still tried to pull into my lane. Had to lay into the horn to avoid getting hit.
Great video, please can I ask where your Dad got his side decals for his GS, on the side grill. I love them 😍 many thanks
My friend went on a testride on the Triumph and he says it's good bike but the GS steering was for him far beter... And the Triumph dealer heard it befor when he pionted that out. But if you do not come off a GS it's no problem.. I like the shape off the Triumph...beautifull bike.
Greetings from Los Angeles, CA. USA. I cannot love this video enough. A Daddy and his little girl talking motorcycles and both knowing what they're talking about. Beautiful. I think it's the only time I've ever seen a vid like this. Again, beautiful. To answer the question, for me, Triumph edges out the BMW for looks but the GSA edges the Tiger for everything else. To me, the Triumph is a fantastic MC, looks nicer, cleaner, and sleeker but the GSA, which is still a fantastically great looking MC, is a masterpiece of everything else. Honestly, I'd have a blast riding either and be over the moon with either sitting in my garage. I really don't think you can go wrong owning one over the other. Smiles for Miles.
I'm with your dad, the only thing I would say for me on the Triumph, the blind spot monitoring would be a nice to have as I have difficulty looking over my right shoulder, so that would be a good safety feature for me. Thank you

Triumph for me…. I had both the BMW and Triumph on a test ride along with other adventure bikes before buying the Triumph in 2013 and the bike has been faultless and is still a pleasure to ride even now.
What a great real world comparison and perspective 👍👍. Is usernamedad going to take it out for a ride ? Mic him up and swap bikes.
Excellent comparison with Dad 👍💕 you are your dad's girl 🤗....I would be tempted by the Triumph....for the roads I used to ride ....
I love the boxer engine, but think the triple is a beautiful configuration that has more torque than a Japanese 4 cyl engine, but delivers good power very smoothly. 3, 6, 12 cylinder engines are naturally extra smooth because they need no crank balancing due to the position of the pistons always in balance with each other throughout their cycle. I owned a Speed Triple for a number of years and loved the power delivery beating every Japanese bike off the mark with the extra low down torque.
I have a 2016 GSA and I want to upgrade. I’m really considering this Tiger over the 1250GS. I love the boxer engines but I want to try something else. Great video 💪🏻
Where did you get the seat netting for the GS? It looks great.
Great review - your Dad is a hoot!, however on choice, I'm like your Dad, GS all day everyday.... learnt to ride on an R80 back in the day, followed by 2 R100RT's.... Moved on to a Suzuki GS850, where I had my 1st & only huge wreck.... took that as a sign & am happy in retirement with the GS.... Low centre of gravity, low down grunt, "Chermann" engineering...... Mindful of my Gran's favorite saying "All that glisten's is not necessarily Gold", coupled with too many tales of woe over Triumph build quality & "value add issues"....... Get him insured & on that damned thing!
I prefer the Triumph. I think the quality would be better. I have seen a few fairly new GS's with light surface rust on those rear frame bars - but then I am a triumph man at heart (current Triumph Thruxton R) even though I also have a 2021 BMW S1000RR m package. Also ex biker cop (Ireland). Ah the police credit unions are a godsend when it comes to getting some toys.
Nice seeing username dad
I almost went Triumph Explorer when the Harley dealer also had the Triumph brand - fortunately I couldn’t get a leg over it. That dealer lost the brand, and I ended up with what I wanted all along - GS Adventure, 2022, Triple Black. The BMW is brilliant - love it. Dad and I share a former career - cheers Usernamedad 🚔
Great review Kate, Personally prefer the GS.
Your Pop's is retired police. Hats off, from a retire St. Louis County MO police Officer. Nice video. What did your dad think after riding the Triumph?
Neither I road tested both of them back to back with the HD then bought a Harley Davidson 1250 Special and I'm loving it,just my humble choice you understand.
I think you would struggle to find much between them in terms of performance and features; other than the gearbox and quickshift which are miles better on the Triumph.
The only opinion I have since I’ve never the ridden the bikes is I have a bit of Triumph bias. Kate I really enjoy the videos with your dad and the bit of insight to his life’s history, I hope you two go for some rides and have a chat over a coffee or a beer. Do you know your family history during WWII? One other question does your mom ever ride with your dad?
Absolutely love yer dad’s triple black gs.
What kind are those seat covers in the GS? Any link? Thanks in advance.
Hi I’m actually just in the process of changing my bonnie T120 black for a tourer. And these are the two bikes I’m considering and I’m like your dad twin for grunt and low down weight does it for me. But think i knee a test drive in both first. my problem is 29” inside leg and i know theGS low frame I’m flat footed and that makes a big difference. I will let you know how i get on Thanks for the content 🏍️🏍️🏍️
Well, I bought a 1200 Tiger Explorer XCA in 2017 partly because the dealer was only about 15 minutes from me and I had heard too many horror stories about BMW maintenance costs. I am 65 years old, 5'8" tall with a 30" inseam and if I had it to do over, I would step down to the XR line. Unfortunately, shortly after I bought it, they stopped carrying Triumph and my closest dealer is about an hour away now. I have a 1995 BMW R100RT Classic which I love but with dealers so far away, I suspect my next bike will be Japanese and not British or German. A previous poster mentioned service access and that has become a top priority for me. As your dad said, of these two, I think it is down to personal preference unless other issues complicate matters. Doubt you could go wrong with either.
GSA all the way I fell in love the first time I rode mine, it’s going to take something really special to tempt me lol 😅
Really interesting side-by-side look at two very nice big adventure bikes. UsernameDad would be top bloke to talk to about bikes and he'd certainly be able to talk back on many years of motorcycling. Just out of interest; what is the main police motorcycle in England? Here in Queensland Australia it's the Yamaha FJR1300 although I have seen a few BMW'S over the years. Thanks for another great vid Kate.

Twins are better engines for adventure bikes. You probably know already, but the radar is in the black box above the rear light.
Your arl fella seems like a really nice guy. I love how you both get on so well ❤️
Kate,I'm properly old just to put that out there..last bike I chopped in was a Speed Triple 1050 which I love love loved.Regret selling if I'm honest.Anyway I now own a triple black, which is great not perfect then what bike is.However since going over to the GS hardly any oncoming bikers nod to me which they used to do??..does your Dad experience this too?
Must admit i like the GS…never sat one one as I’ve never had the urge to….coming from a full sports bike then to Tuono then to the S1000 R thats my level now. Id have an adventure bike as a second bike no worries . Maybe in a few years i may go GS or Tiger bike. Your dad was a police rider ?? Are you going to the classic bike show Stafford next week?
I think blind spot detection is brilliant. Like cruise control, I'd like it if all my road bikes had it. Now adaptive cruise control not so much.
I used to have a Tracer 900 and, found that even though it was a lot lighter than a BMW boxer, it always felt top heavy. I reckon that would be a problem for me with the Triumph. Mind you, I'm only a small guy at 5ft8 and 11.5 stones, I doubt the weight of the Triumph would be a problem for a big lad like your dad. I hope that you can sort some insurance for dad on the Triumph and, get a proper road test done.
Very nice. Something new to consider.

Had 17 gs's inc 1250 triple black adventure , bought the big Triumph after a back to back test ride ! By by Bmw the Triumph for me is a big step on .
Talking of prices don't forget ongoing costs such as servicing, and the Triumph's 10k intervals, both great bikes though and I suppose it's down to the individual and how they like how they ride. Also is there too much tech these days? Whether or not you want it all you have to pay for it and a lot of riders seem to be going the low tech route these days with the likes of Royal Enfield becoming popular. Keep the vids coming Kate cheers.
My comment of the triumphs, one have sensor light from the side mirror to detect other vehicles behind you or in the rider, but in bmw ,GSA have no sensor.but the price of the triumph is low other than bmw gsa

Another great comparison video, and an honest review of both. I think I would still prefer the GS. Thank your dad for both his police and reservist service. Churchill called them as “Twice the Citizen” and it is very true. 👍🏻
Jesus the blind spot detectotion sensor is just above the the taillight
Hey crocodile, purely from a value for money perspective the Triumph seems to be a better proposition. Not ridden either so can't comment on the ride experience. What are your thoughts Kate?
You must sort out insurance for your dad. You work well together. You could do some great comparison videos. It's also interesting to get the opinion of older big bloke and younger female rider on how they ride and style of bike.
Residual value would be interesting after possibly 2-3 years.
Shame dad didn't get to ride the Trumpet but as a GS rider the overall package it offers is so hard to beat. I wouldn't put to much emphasis on the cost comparison, what's more important is depreciation which I have a sneaky feeling the GS would win. But at the end of the day it's the buyers choice and it'd be a boring world if we all wanted the same bike. If history repeats itself the 1300 GS will restore the gap, just like the 1200 LC did back in 2013
does your dad wonder why the tiger has a cast 18" wheel with narrow 150 tyre. vs the GS with a 170/60/17 that actually looks OK. I believe they have the same size front tyres
Kate if you see this , when for the love of god are they going to put the TFT from the RT on the GSA ? can you find out ? I might call over to Eng and buy one from you , How are motorbike company still not putting , sat Nav on one screen ? Vars have had tis for 10+ yrs .
I’m with your dad on this one, GS everyday for me
I don't know why the Tiger is being marketed as a GS killer it is its own thing.. Most adventure bikes are similar but offer something slightly different which is no bad thing. I have an adventure sports Africa twin and again it is its own beast ticked all the boxes for me and probably fits inbetween the 900 and bigger adv bikes 100bhp was spot on for me and a real workhorse does 2 up long tours no probs. Pick the bike that works for you love it and ride it!
Hello Kate & dad I'd choose BMW. Motorad after sales far better than Triumph, especially overseas! Loved the content Bravo Zulu.
Personally, I prefer the BMW, more grunt/torque. The Triumph may have more top end, but do you want/need a high top end on an Adventure Bike?
If Triumph could have had a GT Explorer for me in May this year, I would have bought one. Traded my BMW R1200 GSA Black Edition TE on a KTM 1290 Super Adventure S instead. Triumph were too slow off the block this year.
Those mirrors on the BMW .....are they Triple Black mirrors or are they the Option-19 mirrors? I think they are Option-19 mirrors.

If the GS didn't exist then the Triumph would be the one to have, but if the GS didn't exist then the Triumph would not exist ether.
As a GS 1200 owner I tried the Tiger GT and rallypro versions. I preferred the smaller road focussed bike although it doesn't look as nice it was far nicer to ride and I was offered a decent trade in. Two things put me off, the TFT on the Triumph is poor and the interface awful. The cockpit just looks cheap in comparison to the GS and this is what you see when you are on the bike. I also looked at the servicing cost for the Triumph and its way more expensive than BMW. My other bike is a Triumph Thruxton and I had to pay £256 just for an oil and filter change just to keep it in warranty, to top that they charge £40 for a loan bike. Triumph brags about 10k service intervals but you still have to service it annually regardless and the big Triumph services are horrendously expensive. I have also found BMW aftersales significantly better than Triumph. My new Triumph dumped me at the side of the road and it was three weeks before the local dealer would look at it. Even getting in touch with Triumph UK directly didn't help. Despite that the Triumph is a great riding bike but in this caseI am sticking with BMW and upgrading to a 1250.
@jonasmanny3726
10 ай бұрын
In Sweden it's much more expensive with a BMW. And, the GS is like a dinosaur compared to the Tiger. Triumph Tiger is a much better choice.
I would go for the Tiger as I think it's better value for the money, and it looks better in my eyes. 😃
I think bikes with such a lot of technology mean there’s more to go wrong and that puts me off buying them for touring.
2 different flavors of the same candy! The GS has better low-down torque, but the Tiger has way more power and performance. The GS behaves a little better with balance and braking, but it also lacks feedback from the front end and feels very appliance-like. If you're looking for something like the GS, but want a sportier and more engaging rode, then the Tiger is a no-brainer! The GS is an amazing machine, but the Tiger feels more "alive". Especially comparing the buzzy flat twin and the Tigers exciting triple roar
