Do whatever you want to do, with whatever bike you have. Good statement 👍
A good honest review. Completely agree on the tyres, sketchy on anything but dry roads, however in Scotland they didn't last long and we're shot at around 2k. Changed for Road 6s which work really well in all weather. Unfortunately the tyres have inner tubes so any puncture and you are calling for a recovery. The Thrux is my least ridden bike as it's not meant to be a distance machine, however, it puts a smile on your face every time you take it out.
Had my 1200 Thruxton R for about 7 years , recently took off nose cone & put ABM top yoke and straight bars , I’ve done about 15 k on it .. got descent panniers and have three styles of seat with it .. she’s a great fun bike that I run alongside 6 others .. can’t bring myself to sell as she always puts a smile on my face , it’s probably my shortest bike so I tend do a lot of sketchy roads on it , I’ve even done green lanes with out much hassle as long as dry 👍
I have a first year 2016 Thruxton R with the 1200HP motor. These bikes pull like a freight train. Just brilliant. Too bad this model is going away.

Literally about to get a Thruxton, and this video just dropped. Awesome!
Good review, well spoken young lady with confidence in front of the camera. Good job.
Great review, beautiful motorcycle 👍
Excellent video, thanks for sharing. Cheers
Great review!
Great review of a great motorcycle .I have always wanted one .I will look for one on the used market soon .
Nice looking bike. Very cool tank.
Like from Brazil! Thank you 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Great review - I've got the 2014 Thruxton 900 but after seeing this I'm craving the bigger 1200! What a beauty.
Just got a green '16 a few days ago. 20k mi The first owner looked after it well. Watched a lot of content, but this review, showing the compartment under the seat hump, was a big revelation. Wow. Thank you !!
Its a great bike. Agree with most comments aside from the brakes. My 2011 Ducati Monster has more responsive brakes then my thruxton.
Great review and well done for doing 1000miles in one week rather than 1/2 hr ride as some vloggers do, although you did have the much higher clip ons. Side stand is an easy fix, I bent out the "peg" and filed a diamond grip pattern for better purchase, I think it depends on your style of boots but i had the same problem as you. I thought they had supposed to have improved the gearshift but it sounds the same as my 2016, although now i can nearly always smooth them out except 2d to 3rd. OEM tyres are just for show, 99.9% of riders will be fine with any sports/touring tyre, even my budget Avon storm xm's have more than enough grip and last 10k miles.
Dream Bike❤
Buona giornata.
Good review the speed twin has pretty much all the pros and cons youve mentioned the torque and sound are addictive though and they handle very goodperhaps better tyres though ,well built machines fast enough for anyone 👍

They're very good, but the suspension isnt a patch on the Thruxton R's..
The only twin motorcycle 🏍️ iv never owned it looks lovely how does it handle it would sound fantastic with a set of staintune pipes on her it reminded me of a moto Guzzi Bellagio i owned and still miss going back in 2012 ride safe and stay upright love from Australia 🦘🌏
The bike is designed to carry luggage. Triumph designed specific luggage for it and a tank bag. I have them.
😎👍
Ahhh! Nice review. Slip on a pair of Brit custom silencers and the motor will sing!
That engine gets a lot of good-press from owners , the rest as you say can be sorted-out . I definitely prefer the Thruxton out of the T120-offerings , it looks the-part . Dave nz
Hello there, I own an R from 2017. If I'm right, the RS still needs tubes, because the spoked wheels aren't airtight.
Is that cable clutch light to operate?
There are no cons.

I love my thruxton rs, but i think the huge rear taillight needs replacing. But no accounting for taste of course.

No Cons? Haha. Heavy, hot in traffic, no quick shifter, major service at 10,000 miles and de values more than most. (Actually that’s a bonus if your buying) It’s also 15k which is 3k more than a street RS which is lighter, more nimble, better handling, more comfortable and has a quick shifter and is proper tubeless. You’ll know the difference if you ever have a front wheel puncture.

what is the octane requirement, for that engine?

FYI - tyres maybe tubeless, but the bike has inner tubes so you cant just plug the tyre if you get a puncture..

I carry a spare innertube, patches, tire levers and a co2 inflator in that compartment under the seat.
@togglehead9738
3 ай бұрын
@@williambate8249 I think that's wishful thinking, what about the socket and wrench long enough for 110nm on the rear, hex adaptor for the front spindle, allen sockets for the front brakes and fork pinch bolts, rim protectors so you don't ruin the wheel, a second inner tube as they are different sizes, tyre levers long enough to break the bead, your underseat compartment must be way bigger than mine. not to mention no centre stand. have you actually tried to change an inner tube at the side of the road even if you could carry all these items? Better off with a phone and breakdown recovery, thats if the rapid deflation from the punctured tube hasn't thrown you off the bike already, thats the main reason I sealed my wheels after my only punctured tube, safety not just ease of repair, now just carry a compressor and plugs under the seat. haven't needed it yet and probably won't as the other advantage of tubeless is 9 times out of 10 the item causing the puncture will stay in the tyre and it won't deflate until its removed, unlike a tube!

@@williambate8249 I'm surprised you can get that much under the seat. She didn't specify, but it doesn't look like there's much room.

I wonder what's possible for a conversion to tubeless. Think there is a way to seal the rims, no?
@togglehead9738

@@MadChalet There's a few simple methods, I used the 3m extreme sealing tape, been fine for nearly 4 yrs now, much safer than tubes.

But then there's the used market. Maybe with the model being discontinued one might find cheaper leftover stock, as well.
The first gen Thruxton R was a much prettier bike.
Gold forks are still hideously gaudy.
