Good Lord, this makes the labours of Hercules look like a walk in the park. I admire your patience and forbearance.

Cheers Mac - standard!
Looks to me as this machine was repaired and put back in service over the years with available parts; not necessarily the right ones as evidenced as you are removing and autopsying the subsections as you go along. Prior to an effective internet, finding genuine Triumph parts was a real problem with many of the old-time British motorcycle dealers closing their doors and their parts inventories disappearing to God only knows where. So, to keep the machine on the road, owners did what they had to do with what was available, never mind the fact that nearly some 50 years later the job was going to have to be redone. Thanks for sharing. Press on!

Thanks John yes I agree - thanks for the continued interest and comments.
Good call on sending the rims out. Final product should be sweet.

Cheers - expecting the call to pick them up soon.
I've just had another look at this, and that choke cable assembly looks very long to me. I've checked mine (I took the choke mechanism out of mine a few years ago because I never used it, but I kept all the parts), and the dual cables are about 6" long, including adjusters, and the single to the lever just over 10" (all outer cable measurements). I think someone has used throttle cables on that one instead. Normal routing is up in front of the air box. Maybe you could use those cables to restore the throttle to standard and get the correct cables and another junction box for the choke.

Thanks Rick - info much appreciated. Why am I not surprised?
No doubt you have spotted where the flasher relay should be fitted, in the spring-mounted bracket on the side of the battery tray. The only rocker boxes I've seen with that breather pipe are on the T140E, where it's part of the crankcase emissions system feeding into the airbox. I wonder if the rocker box has been replaced at some point. I'm surprised to see a twin cable twistgrip, I would have expected a single upper cable with 1-2 splitter box halfway down, similar to the choke cable set up. The problem with starting a job like this is you will never be satisfied until it is all done properly.

Hi Rick - yes indeed I came across the flasher mount still fitted. We'll not know the history of why some of these parts were fitted but you're right - what we do needs to be done properly and the owner Greg is worse than me believe it or not.
Can the yokes and forks go back in?

Yes they can Matt but I seem to be in stripping mode!
Is it me, or are the rear shocks upside down?

1977 Silver Jubilee’s had gas shocks. The factory mounted them upside down to bring attention to this. They became standard on all Bonneviles and Tigers starting in 1979
