    Exactly what I've done. I've sold my, gorgeous, Thruxton R for a White /w Green Stripe Scrambler XE purely because of the comfort and fun I will be able to have on it. The Thruxton was/is great but this Scrambler is FANTASTIC!

    Thank you for posting this I watched your XC review first. I have a had both triumph 800 versions . The XC & road biased machine. The 1200XE would better suit my current riding. The 800XC was a great bike but it was expensive to repair when dropped.So I ended up with a Suzuki DR650 which I love to death.This new scrambler has no body work to replace.I will be unloading one of my current bikes to purchase the 1200XE model .

    Thanks for the review. I have just traded in my 2016 Tiger 800 XCA for the Scrambler XE with the enhancement pack. I measured the width of the handle bars because I have a narrow gate to get through at home and both bikes are the same at 35”. I filtered with my Tiger daily on the M27 and never had an issue, I think this will be even easier as you have less visual mass for your brain to think about. Can’t wait for new bike day next month.

    Good review thanks, nice to hear a different fresh accent coming through and your matter of factness was heartening as well I have an XE now, I ordered an XC as I liked the look of it a lot more, I hated the blingy anodised gold forks on the XE- those ‘hey look at me, I’m a freaking bad colour fit on an otherwise retro cool looking moto’- and I still hate them. The shop couldn’t get my new XC going for some software reason after I’d unloaded $20 K+ for it, so they wisely and graciously isn’t me an EX, fully optioned, until they started said bike, which never started actually. They shipped up another XC from Victoria, I’m from Coolum in QLD, and that took 3 weeks, all of which time I kept the XE on loan since I had lent the shop my $20K for the other XC, which had nice black bars and black forks- respectably retro esq. When it cane time to swap bikes, and after giving the XE on loan and real flogging and a lot of miles, I feared going back to the XC- a lesser bike, even though I still had not ridden one. Sunstate Triumph were now more than happy to make me happy exotically after I decided to bring their nice loan bike back, unscratched and a lot more ‘run in’, so they let me change my order to an XE they had in the shop- same blue as the one your riding . I love it, happy with it, got rid of the CAT, cooled the heat, cooler sound, and on Friday I’m getting this SOB fugly gold forks wrapped in black I think or maybe bright green- anything but bloody gold l.

    Nice review. I'm in the same boat...need a detailed XC review!! I don't think I'll do much of the off roading so while I love the XE colors I don't think I want to trade on road performance for colors. Every review out there is totally XE biased.

    Excellent and informative review....you are pretty much echoing my thoughts and feelings about the bike. I've had a test ride and liked it very much, but I'm holding on until I've ridden the XC....which in some ways I prefer the look of....but in other ways the XE wins me over!!. Whichever one I go for that gap between headlight and tft screen needs sorting for sure. Also I think there's a few too many shiny/anodized bits, but that's a personal choice and I'd enjoy making the bike a bit unique to me!. Cheers, Steve

    Thanks Steve, I agree the bike has too much bling. Especially the exhaust, I has about 5 different colors which is too busy for me and I will probably paint or swap out some parts. But tinkering is also part of the fun for me. I am interested in hearing your opinion after you have ridden the XC.

    Your talking my language, the poor EX kind of looks like it was sprayed with glue and fell into a tackle box - but that gives everyone the chance to personalise and retro fit their own bike which is great too I think. It was probably the extra safety of the XE on cornering and Electronic Traction Control that swung me and the extra height .

    Nice review, did I miss the part where you talked about how the suspensions felt on the road over the bumpy parts? Also personally I like the white and green, but wish Triumph had offered something a bit more toned down like the Speed Twin (grey/black/white). Even on the XC the black one could have been cool, but not a fan of the half matte with red pinstripe...All manufacturers should always offer a full black or dark grey option and then go crazy on the colors if you want...

  • @winglessoracle2967

    @winglessoracle2967

    Agree in the black! The suspension was plush on the road. Giving a relaxed touring feeling and soaking up everything as suspected. However not too much as they are also quite stiff which is reassuring in corners (keeps its track without becoming wobbly). So it holds a good middleground for me. Also it is ofcourse fully adjustable and I would probable stiffen it up a little bit.

  • @Speedytrip

    @Speedytrip

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@winglessoracle2967 Fully adjustable is an overstatement :) I'm having mine re-worked (springs, valving and oil). There's not enough adjustments available in them to make them comfortable, even at the softest, they feel harsher than necessary. Someone wanting something stiff will be pleased, as you could make them as sporty as many sports bike (not exaggerating). But most adventure touring bikes I've ridden offered a much more relaxed ride. On rough pavement it makes you pay for every minute of it (and I'm 200lbs).

This is all of them combined yet is capable of taking me off road like the Tiger. I will name her Goldilocks. @@winglessoracle2967 I did not consider it because I am a 60/40 on off road rider. I owned a 2013, 1200 XC so the tall seat height has never been an issue for me either. The small cost difference is worth the upgrade IMO. If you're only going to ride off road on the occasional gravel road or 90/10 then get the XC. I'd go with the black one also. I went white/green on my S1200XE.

    How much heavier was the KTM1190R you had? Did it have better road handling than the XE? Was the 1190 less top heavy?

  • @winglessoracle2967

    @winglessoracle2967

    4 жыл бұрын

    The 1190r was a bit heavier at 217kg dry vs the 207kg of the triumph. I found the ktm to be more top heavy and harder to handle on foot due to its seathight. The roadhandling is on par with a slight plus for the cornering on the KTM. The KTM also has more grunt but in practice you hardly use it. Offroad I prefer the triumph as it gives me more confidence. For touring the wind protection of the KTM is nice but I was bothered by the wind buffering at highway speeds.

    @@winglessoracle2967 Have you also tried the 1290 Super Adventure R? Apparently is a little heavier than the 1190R but make up for it in its composure and low down grunt etc. Interesting. There are no 1290's in the stealership in my area to try but I have pushed the XE around and it felt very top heavy and therear suspension was absolutely terrible. Hard like a rock.
