Triumph 400X Scrambler - Just one problem

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The new Triumph 400 Scrambler. At just £5,495 I wasn’t expecting much and was very impressed with both the build quality and ride. Just one problem, a warning light that doesn’t go off. My own theory is that, if you don’t allow time for the system checks to finish when you first switch the ignition on and start the bike before the immobiliser light has gone off, the light stays on. It doesn’t affect the running of the bike and if you stop and turn off the ignition and restart correctly it goes off. Nevertheless, this Triumph Scrambler 400 is perfect for us tall riders that want a smaller capacity bike. It has a real turn of speed, even if it is a bit revy and easily breaches the 90mph (I imagine). It’s light and nimble, blasts down the back roads and doesn’t get blown about on the dual carriage way. A fantastic bike I really enjoy riding.

Definitely one of the best "real reviews" out there. (You get the feeling a lot of vloggers give unduly positive reviews, to obtain the next freebie ride, from which ever dealership they are using). Clearly, if you have purchased a bike for your own use, it's a more genuine perspective. I have a green one on order for the summer. Can't wait.

I’m so pleased you’ve revisited the 400x and that you still love it! Great review and commentary as always. Don’t forget I was first to ask to buy it off you when you sell it after you’ve bought it! You didn’t say no so I consider the deal’s done. I think it’s an ideal winter bike for people over 6’. The Honda nx500 is also tempting but this Triumph is probably better for north Essex and Suffolk back “roads”.

Lovely bike . Good looking as are all Triumphs. This bike's a bit like a 350 RE Hunter that's been fed a bucket of oats and wants to go . If I was younger, I'd have one. I'm an old guy now , but not yet old enough for a RE Meteor 😇 or Classic 🧐 ! It doesn't bother me that it's made in India . I am sure that Triumph won't tolerate poor quality. If it were Chinese , I wouldn't even look at it .

Nice one TAYM I do like the looks of this one and in the black very nice indeed , as a comment below said it's in the realms of the BSA price wise so would that be a more tempting option given that extra little bit of go well I think it might especially in black .a good start to my saturday a caramel latte and and a TAYM vlog could this day get any better well only when the temperatures rise 😂. Morning TAYM, nice day for a test ride, I took the road version out a few weeks ago, it's a nice looking bike and very comfortable, but yes I found it to feel a bit buzzy and revvy myself, I wouldn't enjoy riding it at 70 and above for very long , I think it would get annoying, but I think most buyers would enjoy it on the type of routes you've just done. Speaking of noise it sounds like someone was doing a bit of clay shooting in the background there? Keep your head down eh? 😅 Enjoy your weekend, cheers Mel . In my opinion although very different in looks , the BSA now available discounted is a real rival . A much bigger and more grunty single for around the same price. ... despite being a Triumph fan boy I think It might be the one I'd go for given the choice, not as smoothly finished as the Triumph but more bike for the money in many ways?

I think my GS400E was 36bhp. To me, then it was a big bike. I'm back at 20bhp now with Ernie the Classic 350 but it's perfect for today's roads and speed limits. Somehow at 60, I'm having more fun going slow these days. If there's a change of government this year (and that looks likely) they'll roll out many more speed limits over the next few years too especially 20mph zones.

These new 400s are great in concept, aesthetically pleasing, well specced, have good performance & economy figures, are well priced...but sadly let down by multiple gremlins that occur randomly involving the overly sensitive RBW throttle, instrument panel and ECU/Fuel mapping. In a years time these problems will hopefully been addressed but right mow for me they don't represent peace of mind buying.

As a fellow tall rider I couldn’t agree more - too many journos bang on about low seat height as a positive - well that’s only true if you are a shorty or an Oompa Loompa!

Agree 100% Oscar,I’m also fed up hearing the same comments. It’s like your a second class citizen if your a tall biker as the only machines that are comfy with plenty of room are the great big duel sports that cost mortgage money. I’ve just sat on the New RE Himmie 450 & it’s perfect for an over six footer,it even has an adjustable seat height.Think I need to sit on this little trumpet that Mr T. is reviewing as it looks very tempting.

Nice looking bike but after the Classic 350, the revs for me would be a deal breaker. The joy of the Classic is the relaxed ride, for me the Triumph would be too frenetic. I can see Triumph selling a lot of these 400 be it the scrambler or the speed. 😊

watching this video and many of yours, seems like England has increased temporary speed limits. signs hung over other signs and then a tripod signage. so yesterday was 35, today is 20, then its 30 the next. those are speed traps if you ask me. when i go north to New Jersey to my brothers, they had those towns you would pass through, it would go from 55 or 50 MPH and then one speed sign stating 25! gatcha! and they would pull over a group of cars as they would have 5 or 6 cops sitting behind a sign or in the parking lot of a gas station and they come out like geese flying in a V formation and corral us all up and you would know who would be in the front of the pack! its okay, i get my ticket first and on to the next town where you speed through just as fast because i am mad from the last town.
