Triscuit Realizes that Shadow is Blind

This is the actual moment that Triscuit figured out that Shadow is blind. Shadow was about three or four months old and had been with us for about a month. All he wanted to do was play with Triscuit, but Triscuit was terrified of him and his cone. What she does to get away from him blew my mind.

I know that animals are NOT smart and CANNOT problem solve B)" or "Well it isn't as smart as a human" You just go out of your way to put someone down. This fun video showing a cat moving slowly with light-hearted commentary over it is NOT a declaration of this cat's VAST INTELLECT. It's just a neat video where a cat does something we usually don't see in response to a problem. Really, I don't know you or how your day is going, but please don't make these kind of comments. I took in a poor starved and blind mini dachshund. I had several cats and a BIG dog. It only took each of them a day or so to figure out the new little one was blind. Dachshund thought herself the great cat catcher, and maybe she was when she was young, but the cats would meow at her from one side, then dart away to the other side and laugh at her as she sniffed and charged in the wrong direction looking for the cat. The big dog would actually move his feet out of the little one's way while laying stretched out on the floor so she wouldn't trip.

Actually, this tiptoeing action is normal when cats are afraid of something regardless of the adversary being blind or not. My cats do that everytime they encounter something they dont like. They basically choose to run away if they realize that a fight is not gonna happen. So, slow movement is less likely to provoke the adversary into reacting.

True but I do think this is different. What they mostly do when they walk away is looking in the direction of the cat, but not looking it in the face and trisquit doesn't even look back. Also het body posture is different than usual so I think she kinda knows that shadows weak point is his eyesight.
