I recently flew south African airways from Johannesburg to São Paulo, 10 hour flight on a A330, economy class. One of the best experiences of my life!!!

This is one of the best channels on KZread for aviation. Some KZread channels have really let the sponsorship from the airlines took their objectives, claiming a particular airline is the best when that airline sponsored them and then a while later the best airline comes out again if someone else is sponsor them. Really appreciate the objectives you guys holding. Yes, simply aviation. You guys are the best.

Funfact: South African Airways recently made an airshow with two of their Airbus A346 to honour the new president (I think) of South Africa...

Just came back from this amazing country, South Africa. The closest thing to Heaven on earth. The people, the food, the landscapes, I already miss it and I just took off from Johannesburg less than 24 hours ago! Lots of love to any South Africans in the comments here, you guys are freaking amazing and super friendly. One thing I like is that you’re quite particular about your greetings, “good morning how are you” is a necessity!

Despite all the mismanagement, SAA is a great airline

I have been waiting for this one for long :D

I flew to Johannesburg with Emirates from Vienna, and in Johannesburg i flew to Windhoek with South African Airways. It was really nice.

I've flown on SAA several times between Johannesburg and Nairobi over the last 10 years and I've honestly never had a bad flight with them. I'll miss them.

Didn't expect Mauritius to have enough demand for Emirates to fly their A380 there (10:25 & 11:44)

I like it very much when you travel through Africa and you review the service on board, i can't wait to see the review of Taag OPO-LAD.

Could you please do a Video in wich youre talking about youre worst flights/flights experiences or flights with many turbulences and so on?

We flew the same route round trip last year and the IFE didn't work both ways and service was just ok. Business Class seats by the way have not been replaced, only on very few aircraft, most still have the old style business class seat. I believe only the A330-300 have the new business class and all A330-200 have the old one. Sadly South African is not in good shape though I wish them all the best as it could be such a great airline in such an amazing country, not including the political situation :)

I never understood why Mauritius Airport is sometimes listed as "Port Louis", the island's capital city. Mauritius is small enough to justify an airport listing for the whole island (like Bahrain, Isle of Man, Antigua or Rarotonga), but on the other hand, also large enough to have many different towns and communities, and especially for the airport to be very far from Port Louis, on the other side of the island. Also, a large part of the traffic there is tourists who go to resorts far from the city and never even go to Port Louis. In short, the identification of the airport with the city is weak, to say the least.

I think it would be a improvement if you would say how much the ticket costed

Why do ba and some other airlines keep the aircraft during the day at the airport? I’m going to Johannesburg and don’t know why there both flights are night flights!?

Flew the route on Air Mauritius. Food on SAA was always great. On AM lunch was mediocre. Sad that they look as if they are out of business. Great crews also.

It was good to see good old lugdiens . Last time i was home was on the way to Mauritius and Taipei on the 747 which was the backbone of SAA in those days . I belive many of South African fleet will be replaced . Mostly leased including A350,s due to be added to the fleet . Many stories about the decline of my national airline . But nothing better then seeing a South african aircraft around the world .

I think you were lucky. I flew with their old economy for 13 hours. The IFE was slow. You should wait for a year to watch the map. The worst thing was, I delay 2 hours with no air conditioners because of the door cannot close. Also, I got a very hard landing. I was quite disappointed for that flight.

Hey Simply Aviation, I have a request for you. It may sound simple or boring but trust me, it will worth it. After almost 40 years, American Airlines will cease operations on Bolivia due to high costs. Their last flight ever would be on November 27 from Miami to Santa Cruz with a Boeing 757. If you can do one of their flights before they stop flying it would be awesome.

@@simply_aviation tbh. I can't answer that one. From I was told through one of my friends who is a hostess for SAA... Is that most of the aircraft serving these routes are widebody jets because SAA don't have the adequate amount of small aircraft to serve these routes and not enough long haul routes for their widebodies. Therefore... It may be an equality thing or its probably just badly maintained

I could respond you in French, but for everyone's well, I'll get in English. You have the date of the flight displayed in the description, at least the month and the year. They have still some lots of videos stocked which aren't even edited yet ! So you can have a video filmed one year before its upload ! I hope I answered perfectly your question. They fly all the time. Content then needs to be edited ( a very long, complex and frustrating task), scheduled and uploaded. With their schedules they also need to find the time to actually put the footage together and check it before uploading. If you fly a couple times a year it's easy to take raw unedited footage and just throw it online. If you fly all the time, have to edit it highly, add overlays and all the other stuff it sometimes takes time and then after all that something might happen which makes publishing different content more relevant which will push something back in the queue. Now i've gone into about 40% of it are you starting to understand why it's been uploaded when it has?
