I really dont get why Lucas is so slept on. Dude is better than ness in just about every single facet of the game. 1. MUCH better recovery. Its not even close 2. Better edgeguarding: PK Freeze and especially PK Thunder edgeguarding tools as Ness' Thunder knocks up. Bair spike is silly and PK Fire is way stronger. 3. Much better mobility: Dont get me wrong Ness is mobile AF but Lucas just has insane movement options. And I dont wanna hear that ''only Blucas can do that'' nonsense people keep telling me. He didnt hack the game dude is using the same kit thats available to everyone. 4. More KO options: Literally all of his aerials kill. A fresh Fair is fuckin nasty. UpSmash is situational but highly effective as it has either armor or straight up I-Frames on startup and its hella active. Throws are similar to ness as well 5. BEST TETHER IN THE GAME: Not even debatable in the slightest. That thing does everything. Now I know most would disagree with my next statement but imo tether grabs are straight up better than standard grabs as theyve been nerfed to hell in this game. Shield grabbing is lackluster for all grabs in Ultimate so the added utility for aerial defense/offense, recovery, safely punishing invincible moves and spaced aerials, etc are huge. The importance of having the best tether cannot be understated. 6. Better specials: This one is debatable but imo Lucas has slightly better specials. PK Freeze > PK Cross. Lucas PK Thunder > Ness PK Thunder (Harder to snuff out on recovery since it doesn't disappear on hit and has a better knockback angle). Lucas PK Fire > Ness PK Fire (Ness' is more annoying but Lucas' has significantly more utility as its better for edgeguarding, movement, neutral tool, and is way better at reverse edgeguarding due to the forward instead of downward trajectory). Magnet is pretty much the same as ya sacrifice a 360 hitbox for extra forward range and slightly better B-Reverse/Wavebounce movement. Ness has a stronger PK Rocket but Lucas' is still better as it has damn near double the range. For me it aint even close. Lucas is a far better character hes just way harder to play. 1.Ill give you that one 2.Debatable as Ness has yoyo options to make going to ledge 10x harder for most characters 3.Both of their movement options are pretty similar 4.Because of PK Fire Ness can KO much easier with his stronger backthrow 5.Fair enough 6.You said it yourself its debatable and each special move fits the normals in their kits very well.Also Ness's PK fire is seen by many to be way better.Lucas's and Ness's PK thunder are better depending on MU

Nah dude, I love Lucas, he's been my main ever since Brawl, but Ness is just better Lucas. Ness has a TON of consistent combo starters/combo strings and kill confirms and Lucas has like 2-3 that are much harder to pull off and only work some of the time on a good chunk of the cast. Yeah, Lucas' recovery is better and he has a sick af Zair, but he's worse in just about every other way. 1) Agreed. 2) Yo-yo is the best edgarding move in the game and Ness' Fair is just about as disjointed as Lucas' Fair and is active or a ton of frames to edge guard and it's not bad at killing either. 3) Mobility is just about the same with Lucas having a Rope Snake and Ness having PSI Magnet that can keep horizontal momentum. 4) Lucas' Up-air doesn't kill until like 50% higher than Ness' and it doesn't reach as high. Ness' Bair is very similar in strength to Lucas' Fair. Ness' Fair is a way better (and more consistent) spacing, combo, and kill tool than the rest of Lucas' aerials (except for Lucas' kill power on Fair). For spikes, it's kinda debatable because Ness' Dair is stronger than Lucas' Dair, easier to hit than both of Lucas' spikes, but slower. Lucas' Dair is interesting in that you can kinda use it for comboing in very particular scenarios, and you can drag opponents off stage with it, but it's also not very strong and has enough lag to make it pretty punishable. As for Smash attacks, Lucas' Up-Smash is hella risky, even if you hit with it while the opponent is at low % and Ness' Down Smash, again, is the best ledge guaring move in the game is is less risky than Lucas'. The only Smash attack Lucas has that's better is F-Smash because it isn't as laggy. As for throws, Ness literally has the best Back Throw in the game. Granted, Lucas' isn't too far behind, but even Lucas' Up-Throw isn't as good as Ness' Back throw just about anywhere on most stages. 5) It's an amazing tether, agreed, but you also have to keep in mind that Samus/Dark Samus' Zair is faster, stronger, and MUCH longer. Instead of being a good combo starter and safe on shield like Lucas', Samus'/Dark Samus' is a MUCH better combo extender and can even kill if you're near the blast zone. Lucas' tether is still amazing, and obviously Ness doesn't have one, but it's definitely got competition for being the best in the game now. While Samus/Dark Samus' grab is laggier, it again is much longer, can start combos with Down-Throw, and Samus/Dark Samus' Up-Throw is only a bit weaker than Lucas'. 6) PK Thunder 1 is highly debatable depending on the match-up, and PK Thunder 2 is also arguable because obviously Lucas' goes about double the distance, but Ness' can also kill just about anyone in the game around 30%, it's hard to say which one is objectively better because they have very different strengths/weaknesses. Ness' PKT is also significantly less laggy and PKT1 can be used as the best juggle tool in the game WITH hella good damage and can lead into combos while Lucas' is only good for edgeguarding opponents, something Ness can make up for in other ways like a lingering Fair or Fire, or even his own PKT1 (just not as well for some characters with his PKT1) Ness' PK Fire does hella more damage, comes out sooner (just a bit laggier at the end) and leads into imagination, Lucas' can JUST kill and zone, while Ness' can rack up damage, set up combos, AND be a kill confirm. PK Freeze is just better than PK Flash, I'll give you that, it just is. As for PSI Magnet, Ness has TRUE kill confirms with his like the Dair one, can be used as a better movement tool because it preserves horizontal momentum, and hit has a constant hitbox. The only thing Lucas' PSI Magnet has above Ness' is that it CAN kill (at like 150%, but why would you if fair is bigger, faster and stronger) and it's the only non-projectile in the game that's +/- 0 on shield. All this being said, Lucas isn't a bad character, it's just that Ness is IN GENERAL better and it's been that way ever since Brawl. While there are definitely characters in the game that need some buffs more than Lucas, he also needs a bit of love before I would actually call him good. If they gave him back his Brawl Nair and Dair hitboxes and startup frames and let Down Throw bury (like it should considering he had the animation before ROB, K Rool and Banjo and there is literally a move in Mother 3 called PK Ground) so he could actually have a consistent and non-frame perfect combo starter and kill confirm, he might actually be able to compete with Ness and the rest of the high tiers. He doesn't need much, he is just so painfully close to being great, but right now, he's just alright.

Jianko Bakota Lucas’s down smash is somewhat comparable to Ness’s downsmash, I don’t know exact details but I’m sure they can ledge guard the same characters.

To be fair fox was only trying to hit smash attacks in the end, a setup would have been less predictable and harder to get out of if it was true.

Yetus WHO does not like how he plays? He’s the epitome of unique Lucas players who’re sick. Utilizing movement to its fullest instead of just throwing PK Fire and PK Freeze when they get the oppurtunity

Amazing game. I know I give/gave you shit about not using pk thunder on stage, but the thing I can always give you credit for is how well you know Lucas' movements and account for his floatiness. Very fucking impressive.

Run off ledge, and wave bounce your pk fire by holding the opposite direction and then flicking the c stick forward. Helps if you have a shoulder button mapped to special. Just look up how to wave bounce.
