A huge benefit you forgot to mention was if you are going to be in the commercial space the ease of installing third party applications compared to the RC Pro/Smart Controller. DJI kinda locks things down quite a bit and makes it harder to install them on their controller. With this you can just download the third party apps like Drone Deploy, Pix4D or even something as helpful as the Aloft application. Awesome video though! You’ve pretty much sold me on the device, I was going to get the RC Pro combo with the Air 2S because I was thinking it’s “better” but at the end of the day I suppose it’s up to use case. The flexibility of the TripleTek far outweighs the RC pro for me.

@Lon Denard True and he did speak about the fact you can install 3rd party apps but didn’t speak on how huge of a benefit it is compared to the RC Pro. As someone who almost bought the RC pro under the assumption that the RC pro is running android 10 only to find out how difficult it is to install/side load those apps and they sometimes just plain won’t work on the RC Pro controller that’s not something I can use for commercial reasons.

@@robertbondar6640 something I recently watched a video on the RC PRO .It has way more settings than using a tablet or phone. I think I saw the video on DRONEU. Might be worth checking out.

Best investment I’ve made for my drone fleet. Flies everything with a super bright screen and phenomenal battery life. Never buying another DJI smart controller because they just turn into very expensive, unsupported paperweights.

@Lon Denard So, keep buying new controllers that you can only use with one or two drones, and are not compatible with new same DJI brand drones, so you keep buying another new Smart controller

Nice review. I debated over getting this versus smart controller but I like the fact that this works with other drones besides DJI. Looks like this along with the brightness of this tablet makes this the one for me!

Tripltek sell holders for different controllers, see their website. Or check Amazon for compatible holders (the top hook needs to be wide enough). I use the supplied quick release strap that attaches to the rear of the tablet and clip it around the antenna arms of the DJI controller when extended. It will probably depend on where you live (I am in Ireland) but I bought mine direct from Tripltek to save about 12.5% off the Amazon price even with a slightly higher shipping cost. Do check your local tax and duty regs. I was concerned about the weight / balance but after my first 10 minutes of flying my Air 2S, I no longer noticed it.

Would really have liked to see the tablet screen in use. What's it like reflectively and all? Wanted to see it in action. Also you missed some vital spec info. What version is the WiFi, BT? Also twin speakers, or quad like on most quality tablets today. What's the sound like? Good sound system?

@@JakeSloan Wow you got lucky. My pre-ordered Tripltek 8 didn't come with a mount. So you are using the Tripltek branded DJI Mavic Air 2 controller mount??? I have the LifThor Baldur 2 DJI AIR 2 mount. It comes with a holder that fits the Tripltek 8... which are hard to come by regardless of brand. The LifThor does not stress the controllers antenna when attached...a plus. I had to order directly from Norway. All USA dealers are selling the old style LifThor Version one mount and do not carry version 2 at this time. I also purchased the StrapThor Pro Body Tripod...well thought out design...one size really does fit most 5'5 inch to 6'4 tall etc. The machining, stitching and quality of materials are top notch. Pricey but discounted around Black Friday/Christmas time of year 2021. May be worth the wait at those times of year.

I think you can throw a matte screen protector on there and would be perfect. Does it auto dim like the iPhone does when it gets warm? That may be a problem for me more than it will be for you. :)

It’s very good for tablet to fly drones with. I really don’t use it for anything else though

Cons: -No aux cord hookup -Heavy -won't except some wireless networks (Cricket Wireless) -Unexpected Chinese reboot all in Chinese, not sure what that was. Otherwise... awesome

Obviously it's more expensive, but could allow you to do some interesting things, like live stream or upload video after a quick edit using an android NLE or photos with the Lightroom app.

@@JakeSloan Thanks for answer. My experience was bad. The tablet have not the capacity to play this type of video in real time. So I ask to myself. How Is posible this almost 800 dollars tablet can't play this videos? My 4 years old cell phone (LG V30) move this file whitout problems. I wrote to the customer service of Tripltek and I receive an ilarious answer: "It needs to wait until the tablet modified the video resolución, from 4K to the tablet display resolution". Althouth I know this Is the kind of answers to evade the truth, I did what they answered me. And I still waiting..... Deception. Have a nice day.

Today I updated my fly app. (to Version 1.5.10) I was very hopefull that the issue that the Tripltek 8pro will not write the Videos in the cache is eliminated. I tryed and, yipie, it stored the Video in the App in a lower resolution. I tried it the second time and it was gone again. It was not cached. Oh dear Tripltek engeneers what can I do? Perhaps my comment would give you a hint. I use a air 2s.

About the price? You said it was expensive. But is it expensive for what you get? What do you get with other ordinary android tablets at that same price? I mean if I went out to buy an android tablet being ready to spend that amount, is the only selling point of the Tripltek, thé fact that it has features for drone flying or is it competitive as a tablet anyway?

it's in the same ball park as some of the other good android tablets. Other tablets are better optimized for media viewing and productivity though

@@JakeSloan thanks. It seems that the fact that it is so tough and bright makes the price more than fair. You get a competitive device that you can use for most things , plus the best drone tablet. Another great use is for kids. You don't have to worry about them breaking it, plus it's a phone to call them on. All around winner device.

@@JakeSloan instead of my usual. Buying a top iPhone, I thought to get the cheapest iPhone and use the money saved to get the Tripltek which I could use for anything. The total money spent would be about the same, I think. I think I would appreciate the tripltek much more than a fancy iPhone. The cheap iPhones have everything I use my phone for. Calling, FaceTime, in a pinch photos and video, appointments etc. Who needs a fancy iPhone when I have an iPad Pro and will have the tripltek? Does my plan make sense? Be honest.

Screen looks quiet dull - I use the FEELWORLD FW279S 2200 nits to monitor flight (brilliant), while using galaxy s8 cast via chromecast to feelworld (which allows a variety of drones to be flown) may do vid complete with holder I made if anyone interested...

No you need to get gloves with a capacitive touch on them. Look for gloves that say they work with touch screens.

Nope. Even their sales literature product shots. It's got some funky color temperature. Never any mention of color accuracy or gamut, either

Tripletek 8 pro don't work correctly with the Air 2s. The Videos will not be stored on the Tablet. It's verry annoying. If you want to see them on the Tablet you must download them from the drone. This costs a lot of batterie. I do not understand this issue because Tripltek says it only happens with the Air 2s. If you watch the Video in 4k30 it will also studder all the time.

Just ordered a Tripltek (haven't received it yet). Their support page says: "Download the DJI Mimo APP from the DJI website. The APP will receive your drone video at the same time you are recording it and you will be able to edit and play the video." -- Is this a way to solve your issue? I'm hoping it is as that was one of the reasons I decided to buy.
