Quick note on the Air 2S screen recording from the Tablet - I definitely wasn't seeing the skipping or lag that showed up here, and it's not in the original source file. So, it must be some issue with my frame rate in Davinci vs. the frame rate of the original recording (Davinci is set to 29.97 - the screen capture might be 30fps exactly and causing some glitch).

I don't think you'll be disappointed especially if buying for the constant brightness. I had a chance to test out in Joshua Tree this past weekend. It wasn't extremely hot - but it was warm enough where my phone screen dimmed and this one did not. So, in the middle of the National Park I was using it solely for navigating.

I was just watching another video of a 8"pro user that had a similar mount using the 4 screws on the back of the tablet. His ended having the screws rupture the battery because they were too long. Just an FYI so be careful.

Great video. You gave me a 3rd reason to get this tablet. Navigation on my motorcycle. Now I wonder how to mount it on the bike though. :D

Absolutely - that will be my challenge. The setup I used here just gets in the way of the bike dash too much. But, I think with a couple maybe metal bars with some holes drilled for the 1/4 20s I can rig a system to raise it up a bit. I think I'll also eventually get one of the low-cost carrier's SIM cards to have cellular on it so I don't have to rely on always tethering to my phone. GPS apps like Waze work regardless, but there is some info missing due to not having a cell data connection.

I am a bit "miffed" at DJI. I purchased a Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2. RAM has a powered mount that is secure and attached it to my Lynx fairing (on a tilt-able mount so I can see the tablet sitting or standing on my 690 Enduro). While DJI claims specific specs for tablets that the controller supports (specs which the Tab Active 2 meets) the Tab Active 2 is NOT supported by DJI. Sigh. Still a great Nav tool and allows me to keep my phone on my vs. on the bike BUT, as you said, this would have been the better combination purchase. I guess you can make it into a phablet, too. Nice to see a "real" person do a user review. Thanks!

I'm not familiar with that tablet - but is it Android? Reason I ask is that the Tripltek you cannot download the DJI app directly either. You have to go to a page and download the app, not via the Play store. I'm wondering if there's a same process for your tablet.

@@twowheelsandathrottle Yes, Android. I have the file downloaded but it won't install. Every time the software updates, I download and attempt to install, again. Sigh. It's not the end of the day, just an anticipated option that failed to materialize.

Great Video! Had my iPhone screen dim on me and that just isn't acceptable. After looking at the RC Pro I picked up the Tripltek 8 last week and am looking forward to flying with it.

Awesome - getting hot around here. I might do a trial by fire and cruise into Borrego during their 100+ temps recently to see how it holds up.

don;t you have Satellite view for your GPS?

Yes - the tablet does work at the basic level with just the GPS, but I believe apps like Waze uses cellular connection for data like real-time traffic, etc.

Not sure about possible dimming. I know that was a huge marketing point for the Tripltek. I'd make sure to watch for reviews on the Samsung to see if anyone mentions it.

I just received the Tripltek 8 pro and can't seem to locate the DJI go fly app. Which app did you install to connect with the Air 2S?

No, for some reason it's not on the Play store - you have to download the install file. Let me see if I can find it again and add a link

Here ya go: Link: www.dji.com/downloads?site=brandsite&from=nav Steps: 1. Open Google Chrome 2. Go to dji.com 3. On the top right corner you will see 3 lines, click on that 4. Go to Support>More Services> Download Center 5. Click on DJI APPs 6. Click on the DJI FLY APP 7. Click on Download Android APK 8. Click yes you want to download. When the DJI FLY finished downloading click on install 9. It is also recommend to download the DJI Mimo APP to play and edit your videos (fyi - I didn't do this one - I edit in Davninci Resolve)

I set the phone as a hotspot and connect it to the tablet using wifi.

Tripletek 8 pro don't work correctly with the Air 2s. The Videos will not be stored on the Tablet. It's verry annoying. If you want to see them on the Tablet you must download them from the drone. This costs a lot of batterie. I do not understand this issue because Tripltek says it only happens with the Air 2s. If you watch the Video in 4k30 it will also studder all the time.

Get rid of the Toy DJI controller and get the smart controller

Yeah - quite honestly, for the same amount of just the smart controller, I got an awesome screen plus an OS that can run anything compatible (not to mention a ton of other things a normal tablet can do) - but most importantly, an awesome navigation system. Since I ride my Triumph every day and fly a drone maybe twice a month, I think I made the right decision.

hahaha - no, it was a small tab on the iBolt mount - not the tablet.
