Hurstwic tested the idea of holding an axe behind the shield for quick access. Javelins are also a plausible way to triple-wield especially considering that they tended to be carried behind the shield. Sir John Smythe had a text suggesting using a pike with sword and dagger (though pike would get dropped soon after all were drawn).

Wouldn't really call that triple wielding. More like carrying ammunition. Otherwise an archer holding three arrows in one hand would be triple wielding as well.

@@andrewli6606 One search term is "Madu, Parrying Weapon" which is likely an evolution of the javelin-behind-the-shield technique. The criteria here is that the primary weapon (sword) is able to attack, the shield is able to attack, and the held-behind-the-shield javelin can be used to attack, all without any changeout or even guard-position shift to warn the opponent. Hence, triple-wield.

I forgot the video's name, but there is a video about a sword master making a practical 3 sword style. It involves dropping the weapon to confuse the opponent if you're wondering how it can be practical.

Experienced knife thrower here. With enough practice, you can effectively hold and throw up to three knives in one hand using a no-spin technique. I’ve done this in speed throwing drills to rapidly hit six targets. Would this be effective in combat? No idea! Most practice knives I have access to have girthy rubber or foam handles as opposed to the thin flat metal throwers you’d actually throw at targets, so my ability to safely practice this technique while sparring is limited. But it would be worth experimenting with!

throwing knives aren't very good weapons. They're cool for showing off, but I can't imagine them having any practical utility in a fight, outside of confusing your opponent. But you could also get lucky and get them in the eye, if they're not armored there.

I don't really know how to think about tat. Cause yeah its technically 3 weapons but the way you hold it its more like 2 weapons and one is a 2 use throwing knife? Or you can try and cut/stab with them and then its just worse dual wield?
