That's raw talent. Prog metal... With no guitars. And a saxophone. Dan briggs never fails to amaze

Yeah I was wondering why they were on metal blade records.
blows my mind that prog rock like this was made in a Bluth model home.

He's my bass idol.
I like how that guy gets all pumped to play the sax.
Thank god for creative young people.... inspiring and sonically powerful....
2012?? Time flies by.. I keep coming back to this and I love it!
The whole beginning up until 3:20 is in 9/8. Also the "Curse of the Ninth" is a superstition that a composer will die after writing their ninth symphony, apparently. Glad you are interested :)
Dan's headbanging more to this than we he's playing with btbam hahahaha

Juan Dominguez he seems to be more like this when he knows the cameras are rolling.
Dan Briggs is the bassist in Between The Buried And Me, you can hear his bass lines very prominently in their music.
And people try to say music is dead, how dare they?!

Only the people who solely base their current musical knowledge on the radio or they're are old and don't understand the magic the youtube sidebar brings.

Gladigator Crandestrine Well, I am 55 - so I suppose that I am old. However, I run a jazz club..... This is brilliant. The best bands playing at our club are the fusion bands and the prog metal bands. (We do the odd prog metal night.) Music is well and truly alive - you'll just never hear it in the commercial media.

Graeme Oxley Prog metal night sounds awesome! I've accidentally gotten accustomed to not liking stuff out of popularity, like a hipster, haha, it's just ridiculous how more often than not, the more popular a band is, the more watered-down they are. I think you know what I mean, and there are always exceptions, just a trend I've noticed.

i never once encountered a person who said that maybe people that live on an island with a human population of one and no connection to the internet, people would automatically search for music before saying something as stupid, i love your Charlie Chaplin icon

Kinda randomly jumping into this conversation, but most genre seems to have some truly great music building right now. Especially when bands are influenced by jazz. Check out some of Maps and Atlases older stuff and Circa Survive's newer stuff. Different genres with some killer music. I like the direction music is headed.
That last part of the song reminds me of intronaut if they were apart of your band. That took me on a journey, amazing.

Matt Lynch is the drummer of intronaut.
This is Crimson meets Charlie Parker. Some of the most creative and intense 3 piece music I've ever heard. Love these guys.
One of the best music I have heared in a while!
Kinda reminds me of King Crimson. And that is perfectly okay.

David Lynch will love your style.
cool, thanks MetalBlade!
It reminds me a lot of the band TRAM, featuring Tosin Abasi. If you havent heard of TRAM go listen now. But in other words, Dan Briggs is a musical genius.

Heh good call, that's how I discovered Trioscapes, Spotify algorithm suggested it as "Similar to T.R.A.M." Some fucking epic fusion/prog, both of them.
Everyone in this band is absolutely incredible, and I love how you guys sound together; Dan Briggs what can't you do!!? ;D I can't wait to hear Future Sequence, or for that matter more Trioscapes! I bow to you fellas
Love this!
Oh my Dan Briggs. Such talented and diverse musicians.
I love it. Fantastic.
It's sick how does those live loops. So dope.
Great playing guys. Never fail to impress
Just uploaded a bass cover of this the other day. Such a fun song, love seeing videos like this.
Such talent in this group
frank zappa-core
so much groove
he writes a lot on guitar, and uses a lot of distortion and other effects/tones in Trioscapes, and on Parallax II. i had a lesson with him and asked him about his writing, and he writes some incredible counter melodies and bass lines. he is a true genius at bass playing and composition
Mind = blown! I could listen to this the whole day! I probably will..
Amazing.
This band is so badass! I just found out about them today via Dan Briggs interview.
really diggin this, its got the natural flow and energy of jamming but with the added technicality that only musucians of this level could bring. great stuff!
Groovy as fudge!
holy shit. bad ass. direct to you live from Mr. and Mrs. Francourts living room! very cool.
Why have I not heard of this?!
👏👏👏👏👏 i can Not wrtight, without words
anytime bro!
Must, purchase, ALBUM!
I like this alot....
Also the bassist for Orbs. sooo good!
awesome jam. one of the greatest bass players in metal history right there.
'Trioscapes started in the summer of 2011 when bassist Dan Briggs (Between the Buried and Me) contacted Walter Fancourt (tenor saxophone/flute) and Matt Lynch (drums) about working up a rendition of the Mahavishnu Orchestra classic "Celestial Terrestrial Commuters".'
Can't wait to see these guys share the stage with Sketch Orchestra. It will be an epic show.
I totally agree, I saw Trioscapes play in Toronto and they opened up for 2 other shitty emo fusion type bands and i couldn't believe it. These guys ended up melted all these kids faces off, it was amazing. I met them before the show and they were super humble and cool. I think they're not getting the credit they deserve also
Man that was cool
You may not like the saxophone, but don't be confused - Walter is KILLING IT the entire time... like everyone in this band. Best live show I've seen in ages

It’s surprisingly dampened/soundproofed. And no one on this sleepy street every fully realized the caliber of musicianship my parents’ hosted in this living room over the years.
I've noticed some of Trioscapes' tracks sound a bit like some BTBAM's. Dan is a damn good bassist and his style is always there in everything he does in either band.
The drum groove is awesome! Not too flashy or difficult, but complex and tasteful.
They can come play in my living room anytime
Awesome Metal \m/
Kick ass band!
Sounds like John Zorn on the sax! Love this
DO IT DAN!!
Nice! I just realized Dan is in this...
so these guys are playing a show in town and i didnt know who they were so I looked them up. guess whose gonna go buy tickets tomorrow
I was thinking the exact same thing.
I love when the show Matt Lynch from the correct angle for him to look like he's sitting on the couch.
The one used mainly by him is the Line 6 DL4, or at least the one he plays with the most on stage.
wow... it's someone's grandma's house. I wish my grandma has taste in music like that... All she likes is some bosnian ganga...=)
Modern day King Crimson. Dan Briggs is god.
Dan, will you please release a tab book? I KNOW YOU'RE THERE.
Geniales alguien sabe dnd puedo descargar musica de ellos
I WANT DAN'S AMP SO FREAKING BAD.
looks like it was done in mom's living room! good stuff. hope Dan is keeping up with thundercat, i know he can. 💪💪💪💪💪💪

Correct!
"Shawn Lane & Brett Garsed" (also called MVP, short for the Mike Varney Project) or "Soil and Pimp Session". Somewhat similar although they are very different. The first being more "traditional" and funky (mainly because it's older) the second being more "punk". Both of them employ less of the "Soundscapes" style that is used here. You might want to look into the Japanese Jazz scene.
is Trioscapes the most popular band in the world yet? I'm tired of waiting for them to get the respect they deserve
una pregunta, que bateria usa el hermano de la bateria? saludos desde mexico. gracias.
Miles Davis - Bitches Brew v2.0. Love it.
Slappin Da Bass Mon!
thx m8 :)
wow, this is gripping
HOLY FUCKING SHIT!
Fucking epic reminds me so much of old King Crimson.
It helps us keep our hearing haha. Its so damn loud behind a kit, if you have them on its much much better. Also it helps to hear what your playing with them too.
Dan at 2:24 LMAO. Dude's just goin' in.
Try Praxis, Old psychedelic funk/jazz with one of my favorite guitarist Buckethead. It's an older group but I love them.
woow
The guy's who recorded them. It's at Symmetry Studios.
It's like jazz-djent lol. Not normally the stuff I listen to but it sounds really good!
These guys have just invented a whole new genre - take note
I've got that same kit ;) we need a new record fellas, please?
Between the burried brought me here and Im once again impressed about the high professionality of this band. Awesome Stuff but in some cases very hard.
So I take it mr Briggs is who incorporates all the king crimson style rhythms Ito btbams music. It is tool evident here.
Is the bass amp switched on!
Very interesting
what kind of horn/mouthpiece/reeds does walter use?
o.k holy shit.First of all jakumitzu eye (spellcheck that) needs to do a session on vocals with you guys.JUMPING fuckin rights.Naked city lives. WOW.
Awe - A couple that might fit the bill - Altered (see Altered - 2007-04-22 - Graphic on You Tube), and the trio of Scott McGill Michael Manring Vic Stevens
what pedal is Dan messing with at the end??
This reminds me of another group with the same arrangement, think they were called 'back door' or something like that.
Can someone help me by letting me know of more Bands like this? AMAZING
