My fiance is from Trinidad and she introduced me to Bodi. For me, growing up in rural Virginia it was just like snap beans, or green beans. But I have fond memories of snapping beans with my grandfather and my great grandmother. Just sitting on the porch and snapping the beans as we just talked. Miss them and those times but so happy to have done it. Karen then made me cabbage and tomatoes with roti for brunch one day but she a bit more pepper in it and it was hot...LOL But i got though it and absolutely loved it,

I just use a metal spatula to hold the roti over the burner, works well

Where is the rec for your sada? I've been looking and looking and looking lol 😆

Everything looks so delicious! Do you have any idea what variety of cabbage that is? The ones I find here are very dense and not "sweet". They don't have all the layers like the ones back home. I'd love to make the cabbage but it they just don't cook the same. I'm wondering if I should be looking for a different type.

Thank you darling! This is the regular green cabbage. Maybe you can try the Asian supermarket near you. I get this one in my regular grocery like HEB & Kroger.

@@TasteofTrini thanks! I'm in Canada so we don't have either of those but I will check the Asian supermarkets to see what they have. I find the cabbage, bhaigan, bodi and bhaggi to be inconsistent in quality...or maybe I simply prefer those back home 😄

Aww gosh! I know exactly what you mean. It definitely has a different flavor to that sweet home flavor. For the baigan, I prefer using the Chinese eggplant. It's much sweeter and tastes better than the aubergine type.

Yes I soak all veggies & fruits in a vinegar and salt solution and then wash thoroughly. It removes any bugs and/or pesticides.
