Trimming Draft Horse's Hooves in a Shoeing Stock/Percheron Stallion Health Scare!
The kid's found a Monarch Caterpillar and we fed it and have now been patiently waiting for it to emerge from its chrysalis. The time finally came and we now have a Monarch Butterfly to let go. After that, we head over to Alan's parent's house. Leonard is trimming the hooves on his Percheron Cross Draft Horse mare, Cookie. Cookie has flat feet, so she requires trimming more often than the Belgian Draft Horse. To trim his Draft Horse's Hooves, he uses a Shoeing Stock. The stock is a safe way to trim and shoe Draft Horses. We also give an update on Prince, the new Percheron Stallion. Prince had everyone worried when he spiked a fever and nothing was able to treat it. After 8 days of being touch and go, Prince recovered.

Trinity Dairy was established in 2006, in Minnesota. Alan and Jennifer farm with their 5 children; Jessica, Justin, Jordan, Joshua, and Jason. We milk a mix of 33 Jersey, Holstein, Brown Swiss, Guernsey, and Ayrshire cattle. We also enjoy sharing our family's love of Draft Horses and using them for logging and other farm work. Dairy Farming in Minnesota can be challenging, but it's a lifestyle we really enjoy. Subscribe today to watch our small family dairy farm and family grow while continuing to thank our Lord for the blessings we've been given.

Thanks for another great video! What impressed me was the piece of equipment used that made the trimming safe for Leonard and comfortable for the horse. And also liked Leonards' explanation of how and why certain things are done. Also good camera work.
Howdy my Friends, I hope all is well with ya'll, Thank you for sharing this video with us, your flower garden is gorgeous, I love plants, and I gotta say, watching the trimming of the work horse, Wow, his horses trust him with every fiber of their being, truly truly Amazing to see, my Mom used to brake our horses, and others, and I find that so Amazing, I've also seen a guy brake a horse with an actual whip !! I wanted to tell this guy to chill out and stop whipping the poor horse, but i was only 11 years old, he made it bleed, he was NOT doing it right at all !! It's such a privilege to see the commodity that your brother in-law has with his horses, I'll definitely be saving this video to my collection, I could say so much more at how Amazed I am at that trust they have in him, Absolutely Amazing, Stay safe, Stay Calm and Farm on my Friends, Peace
My father in law used to trim horse's. And my wife used to go with him and was his assistant. That was many years ago.
I'm studying on stocks I must say I like this on better than any I; have seen. Makes everything look so easy.
Thank for sharing. It's good to still see that people still care for there animals in a good way. Cows and Horses look so fit and Healthy.
Very good video I like your channel because just a little bit of everything keep up the great work wish you had more video's love your channel ❤
I’ve never seen a shoeing stock, interesting bit of gear. Must take a bit to get the horse used to it. Ha ha the dog waiting for a bit of hoof. Great video thanks for sharing
Butterfly in the beginning.... That was awesome. I remember when I was that age seeing that in school for a third grader, it was a big deal. Garden looks great!! I really appreciate these videos with the horses. I always learn something new. When I was younger it seemed all of the town blacksmithers shoed horses. It seems it is becoming a lost art. So glad to hear Prince is on the mend.
Always enjoy when it's you and Leonard, such respect both ways.
Hee .Grandfather makes good hoof trimming . Its impressive that he have a treatment stand to tame the Horse ! - My father says always .horses who only did field work do not need metal horseshoes . All Hobby Horses in Germany have metal horseshoes ! .LOL -- the mostly women who did only to go for a walk with her horse .spent a lot of money for hoof trimming and metal horseshoes . Best greetings from north west germany from Bert !!!
I must say I grew up on a farm and on the internet I have watched many videos of doing horses feet/even from Mennonites doing it. I have not seen a more in control and the know how that this man has learned over the years. The way his setup was and how cool the horse was because animals are smart. The horse knew what was going on and in the end One big happy horse for sure. Thanks Trinity Dairy for taking the time to show this mans knowledgeable work.
The garden looks awesome so jealous. LEONARD sure does keep busy. 👌

Had a couple escape from me and cocooned on the kitchen ceiling. Good thing grandma was good sport. When they were ready we gently shooed them out the door. Lol

Gee! Leonard, you look like you've done that a few times 😉
Dog looks familiar, we have a half Australian shepherd and half healer named Smokey, that could pass for your father in laws dog's twin. Dogs love cows feet to.

👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🙂COOL
Very cool 😎😎😎😎. I was wondering if was because of flys or the horse just didn't like being in the shut there cause she was always stomping.

What or how is your stock into the ground? Bolted or dug into ground
@trinitydairy
Жыл бұрын
It has a wood floor that is really wide to keep it stable , but the stock isn't anchored to the ground. A person certainly could anchor it down.
I was told to come check out your Stocks by Jim Gordon Working horses with Jim He likes your stocks who did you buy them from is it ok to ask? They are so cool looking and so much better for the horse and the Ferrier less pressure on the horse too and they don't feel so caged up so better all the way around really. Very Ergonomically stocks. The dog is waiting to chew on the bits that comes off of the hoof. they love chewing on the trimmings.

@@trinitydairy Thanks i will do some research to see if i can find out more I look forward to seeing your next video. It is nice to see people still using horses around the farming industry. i love horses all breed but the drafts to me are the gentle giants of the horse world. I have had my own paint horse but unfortunately he had to be put down about 8 months after i got him. He was a bad case of neglect with one foot in the grave when i got him he was almost back to his old self when he had a neurological episode he would not have had a good quality of life and i couldn't live with myself if i had continued his life he wasn't the same horse anymore. I still miss him he was a bit of a ham really he was special. i have been in love with horses since i first saw one when i was three. it was hugh to me a draught horse but i was not scared i think i cried my eyes out when we had to leave it. it was a big show on the sea front where i lived in the UK i live in Ontario Canada now. Thanks for the info look forward to the next video, stay safe and healthy. God bless.

Are there Amish in your 'neck of the woods?' Or was the hoof advice given at the horse sale barn? Just curious.

I had a vet tell me once that all animals are as susceptible to virus', diseases, and health conditions just like humans are. Back at the height of the pandemic, our neighbors pets were diagnosed with COVID, both were treated with Ivarmectin and made a full recovery.
great job, but horse needs a diet!
