I purchased the Husqvarna 325 ilk because you recommend it. I use this trimmer for my private lawn and I am really happy. Maybe I will get the the attachment with the gras shears, because the high dry gras is always wrapping around the trimmer head. Anyway, the video shows me the easy and comfort usability of the husky. Just simple and easy.

Nice video. I run the Stihl you have here and the husky 520 battery whipper and both are great bits of gear. Husky has their new 525 battery whipper due very soon which I’m keen to grab. My thoughts are it’s hard to go wrong with any brand so dealer network is a key factor and ease of repair is a key factor. I’d rather stick with traditional brands like Stihl & Husky for that reason. How much nicer is mowing lawns and hedging for a living with battery gear! Thanks for the video.

Thanks for another great review, Kai. You have a great channel. You didn't include a Pellenc i noticed. I was thinking of investing in electric gear to start my business. A while ago you reviewed the Pellenc Rasion 2 and also the Makita 40v mower. I know you liked both. Do you use an electric mower in your business and do you have a recommendation after using them both? What would be your preferred electric models of mower, blower, whipper snipper if you were starting out? Thanks again for the informative videos and taking the time to answer questions.

Hi Suzi, thanks for watching and commenting. I don’t use a battery mower at the moment as I haven’t found them to be good enough for what we need, even though I much prefer actually using them. The only two I would consider at the moment are the Pellenc and the Makita with my preference going to the Makita for mowers. Local dealer support is a big factor in our choices of brands too. Make sure you have good dealer support with whatever brand you buy. If just staring out I’d actually recommend a petrol Honda, and either a petrol blower and whippy from Stihl or Husqvarna so you have solid reliable, time tested foundational tools and then start exploring battery gear. However is just wanting battery gear no matter what the Makita is the only one that I’ve tried so far that has the mower that’s nearly good enough for everything. The hand tools are good now I’m any brand really and will be personal preference but the mowers are not there yet. I’ll be trying the Greenworks out soon too which will be interesting to see how that new 82v stuff goes. Anyway, hope that helps. Cheers 👍🏻

I have been using the 520ilx (motor in head) for 3 years probably around 1500hrs and there's nothing cheap about it, it has been through absolute hell and back and still runs fine. It's only downside in my opinion is weight up front and power but it makes up for it in light weight, ergonomics and durability. (And the motor up front allows for a steeper angle which means bending your back less too).

Having used them all more since recording this, I’d probably swap the Milwaukee around with the Stihl now, but I couldn’t be bothered to film it all again. It also depends what you are trimming the Stihl would be hands down better for longer sessions with a backpack battery but the Milwaukee is great for the regular weekly and fortnightly stuff. Nice and light weight. I like them all really lol 😆

I got the Makita XGT 40v powerhead free with 480mm XGT lawn mower. Got the small guard whipper snipper head attachment. It clamps down rock solid. Don't blame you for switching out Makita's bump head. It feeds very well but line sits way too high from ground. Got to tilt it a lot. Heaps of power. I use speed 1 for trimming around shrubs and light vertical edging. Speed 2 is my general use setting. Speed 3 I rarely use but it's great for the hedge trimmer attachment.

I do agree the batteries are built well and the rubber is nice but I'm less than impressed with the amount of battery and charger failures i had. Also i just wanted to point out that the 40v XGT batteries have a shock-absorbing structure and a triple-layer casing for resistance against water and drop impact, I've dropped and knocked mine a few times already and they haven't cracked or anything. @@joshuabush2569 Makita. I've had all red tools and all yellow tools at different points in my life. I even had all plastic tools that squeaked when I was a boy. Makita is hands down the better tool manufacturer. People tend to love what they are used to. And most homeowners don't put the hours on their tools to really push them to the point of failure. Dewalt and Milwaukee are real cozy with the big box stores here in the states which is why most people tend to learn yellow or red. Makita actually charges Home Depot and the like to carry their tools. Going from Makita to Milwaukee or Dewalt and the tools just feel like cheap garbage in your hands-the build quality just isn't there. Makita is a Lexus softly yet methodically working its way through Beethoven's 9th. Red and yellow are torquing their brains out in a Dodge Journey to Nickleback with the volume turned up so loud that the muffler falls off. An even better analogy would be to compare a Porsche to a Dodge Demon. German engineering versus American muscle. Each do have their place, however. Ya red/yellow may be a smidge more powerful (not always) but 99.99% of what we do with our tools day in and day out don't require us to drive 10" lag bolts into treated posts all day. A well engineered tool that oozes quality and craftsmanship is simply divine. Makita is built to last. Have you ever stopped to think why Home Depot only rents out teal? Now I'm not saying those other brands don't make good tools because they do. Milwaukee has a fantastically deep line of tools that no other manufacturer can even come close to. I own quite a bit of non-Makita gear, but anyone who has had the absolute pleasure of removing a poorly fit m12 battery from its tool knows what's up. And don't even get me started on the "Made in China" talking point. Most things are made in China for no other reason aside from the fact that they can be made cheaply there. Lets not forget that the absolute pinnacle of manufacturing/engineering are also made in China (Apple). Design and quality control are paramount. People all over the world are the exact same. Too long of a rank not even going to attempt to proofread that apologies for typos/grammar.

Would be interested to see your opinion on the 520ilx lined up against these. I don't recommend running a different head if it's heavier or line bigger than 2.4mm, it makes a big difference. But works the other way too. I run a small alloy head on it, stens and bga spares make them, and it makes quite a difference in efficiency and allows you to run the line longer too so you move the guard up the shaft a bit. Run in eco mode with stens silver streak razor twisted line 2.4mm I think the best run time I've had was around 2 hours with the bli300 just doing lawns edges and light brushcutting.

@@billhesford6098 Just got to have good battery hygiene and sell old batteries out of warranty. Batteries have an expected life cycle. Keeping batteries till they die is not as good as buying new batteries every 3-5 years. IE $400 in batteries to start. Sell for $200 after 3-5 years. That's $66 - $40 a year. Even less if you are able to use the battery warranty. You'd spend just as much in gas or more. The yearly cost difference shouldn't be a factor. Only how many hours of extended runtime you need vs how much you're willing to pay upfront. The few cons is runtime and having to deal with a lemon battery occasionally instead of just putting in gas. But there are a lot of pros for battery. Milwaukee/Dewalt/Makita has a huge lineup of tools + OPE. Tools are quieter, produce no fumes, easier to start, and almost zero maintenance. And if a tool makes a job you don't like easier, I'd be happy to spend a little more. IE push mower vs propelled vs riding/standing mower.

I don't understand why Stihl isn't his number 2. Just the way he talked. The Husqvarna and the steel was his favorite. It sounded just by the way his experience was. not actually what he said. Also kind of makes me feel like he is persuaded by Husqvarna and Makita sponsoring him and that's why Makita was his number too. Also the Stihl looked to be used a lot more than all others. So if Stihl is one of his least favorites, how come it was used a lot more than the Makita. You could say that he just had it a lot longer I'm pretty sure stihl was one of the first units out. But the Makita looked barely used unlike the Husqvarna and the stihl. I have always loved Husqvarna. But I have never had a battery powered weed eater. I would really love to see someone get in some really thick stuff and push it. to its limits. to find out what it can actually do. Thanks for the video I really appreciated you having all of them in the lineup. The only other thing I wished you did in the lineup was pricing. That way people can be like well. I don't need one as strong so I could use the cheaper one. In my opinion, I'd rather spend $300 to $500 on the strongest one. I would think for the price Husqvarna would still be the winner

You have to change the line it comes with, then there is no vibration. It’s seems to be a common problem! I haven’t tried the Dewalt mind, so I can’t really comment too much on it. Might be bloody marvellous and the best thing since sliced bread but I wouldn’t know. 😜

@@loucifer4205 Maybe has 10% - 20% more torque/clearing speed in exchange for slightly less runtime and more weight. Which is a tradeoff. Pretty much the same as the Makita 40v, but with less features and a little cheaper than the Makita. Great, but not *way* better.
