Trim a round face and head | Mabel The Whoodle

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

In this video we are going over the techniques to trim a round head, face and ears on a whoodle. You can use these same tips to trim a Goldendoodle, Shih Tzu, Yorkie, Cockapoo, or any Doodle or Poodle mix, You will need clippers, attachment combs, a wide tooth comb, a slicker brush and pair of scissors. Please see links below for tools I use in this video, and other videos as well. I do receive a small commission when you purchase through these links, thank you.
I am using an A attachment comb on her head and on the sides of the face and hand scissoring the rest.

Yorkiepoo owner here, very conscise demonstration focusing on the head, I have been looking at many videos and this is by far the best that focuses on the head area. Keep up the good work.

We love to hear you love grooming your doodle!!! We have trouble with the opposite side of the face. The right side is easy, bc we are right handed, the left side always ends up a little too long or too short 😆 Practiced makes pawfect🐾

Great job! Thank you for sharing your wisdom & experience without a fee. My only criticism would be that the background music isn't background enough which is very common I found with videos that use that kind of thing. But yours is better than many. 😊

Thank you for your video. I find the face of my two golden doodles to be the hardest part of grooming at home. I have one doodle that has the curly fur of a poodle, and the other one has the wave of a golden retriever. I’m assuming that I could use this video to groom my doodle whose fur is more like a golden retriever. What do you think? Thanks so much. Have a super day.

Hi , my 11 month old doodle has little skinny matts like dreadlocks on bottom edges of her ears. The groomer didnt trim at all (??) Can i just cut them with the thining sheers or should i avoid them & use coconut oil to brush them out before i cut them off?

Thanks for watching! Yes, I do trim the lashes. Lots of people ask if it hurts, but it does not hurt/is not painful to trim the lashes. I’m not sure where that myth came from lol.

Thank you, is this the cross with the Standard Poodle? Second, which size is most common with this cross? Last, how often clip, how often brush?

Hello. Both Mabels parents are whoodles. I believe most breeders mix a wheaten with standards, yes. I brush Mabel once a week, unless we have a lot of “fun” at the park or get wet. I do face, feet & Fanny trims every 4 weeks, and do a full groom every 6-8 weeks. I hope this is helpful! Plz let me know if you have any other questions 🥰

Hi just wondering what brush you are using around the muzzle?

  • @Mabelthewhoodle

Hi Jack, I use the same method for the whole coat. I like a pin brush first, then a slicker brush, then a wide tooth comb. The pin brush loosens the coat and breaks up dirt etc, the slicker brush breaks up mats, the wide tooth comb makes sure you removed all the mats. The tools I specifically use are in the description. The Chris Christianson pin brush, the Miracle Coat slicker brush, and any wide tooth metal comb is good!

Our dog is not as compliant as yours. If we try to hold her muzzle she wrestles with us and it’s hard to keep hold. She’s a one year old Cavoodle. Does it get easier with perseverance?
