Trilling Trio: Exploring Tongue, Lip, and Tongue-on-Lip Trills

Ғылым және технология

🎤🌬️ Welcome to a trill-filled episode of "Master the Voice"! Today we're embarking on a vocal exploration of three distinct types of trills: tongue trills, lip trills, and an intriguing variant I call "tongue-on-lip trilling".
First up, let's get our tongues rolling with the classic tongue trill. Watch and learn the technique to ensure your trill is on point. Next, we tackle the lip trill, where I'll share a personal tip for those who struggle with it - a simple cheek lift can make all the difference!
But here's where it gets really interesting - the tongue-on-lip trill. This unique method combines tongue and lip movements, encouraging jaw relaxation and creating an unusual yet effective vocal exercise. 🗣️💨
I want to hear from you! Try these trills and let me know in the comments if you have another name for the tongue-on-lip trill or any tips of your own. Your feedback is invaluable.
And here's something to look forward to: In a future video, I'll be "scoping" these trills, using videolaryngostroboscopy to capture their effects in slow motion - a must-watch for any vocal enthusiast!
During this video, keep an eye on the software display showing my voice's pitch range from 0 to 800 Hz. This visual aid complements our trilling adventure, providing insight into the pitch variations of each trill. 📊🎶
Remember, trills are more than just fun; they're a vital warm-up tool, especially for the chest register, promoting vocal cord health and reducing swelling.
Try these trills, share your experience, and join the conversation in the comments below. Your participation makes our vocal journey more enriching and enjoyable!
If you're excited about trills and vocal health, don't forget to like, share, and subscribe to "Master the Voice" for more interactive and informative content.

Great video, thank you for the scientific information that you give, so helpful to me. I have used this warmup, most of my life in my singing career. Is this a good warmup to assess if one is using correct breath control? I have heard this most of my life, if you can lip trill and or tongue trill, it means the singer is breathing from the correct place. Is this true? Thank you.

I think if the lip trill will last for more than 10 seconds, to about 22 seconds...then the singer is breathing in the right way. But if the lips or tongue shut off too early, then the air support has failed or the laryngeal tension has increased.

Keep the edges of the tongue up and engaged while you pull down the upper lip a bit like a pout and then breath!
