Trijicon MRO Review - Red Dot vs LPVO

Спорт

A full review of the Trijicon MRO 2 MOA red dot. After using the MRO for two years in competition we go over the pros and cons of the optic, and why we chose the single red dot setup versus an LPVO for IPSC Mini Rifle. Enjoy!

Extra points for the robustness testing at the end. And for the ATF peeking in.

Would personally go with an Eotech for the price point, never had an issue with my 512

If you really want LPVO on mini rifle why go for a heavy 1-6x? I would find a lighter 1-4x like the Trijicon TR24. The 1x on it is fu**** great and you can power up for distance targets. The BAC Triangle is great for that type of shooting.

I've always found the praise for the "field of view" of the MRO strange. FOV doesn't or shouldn't matter for a red dot, because you can, well, keep both eyes open. That's the best benefit of a red dot over irons: keeping both eyes open. However, the MRO's 1x tends to be more like the "1x" of an LPVO, which is to say just enough off from true 1x to make shooting with both eyes open a problem. Red dots are great; the MRO isn't. I haven't had a chance to get my hands on one yet, but Aimpoint's new Duty red dot seems like it might become the new best option for a red dot in that $500/£500 range: footprint and weight of an MRO, but 2/3 the price of a T2.

With it being the only optic and shooting to 120+ yards there will be times where you're shooting with one eye, closer targets would be two open, so the FOV offers a benefit at longer targets. The other aspect I like is how the body disappears when picking up a target, red dots like Aim Point or the Vortex SPAC feel like you're looking down a tunnel and the body becomes distracting. Can't say I've found the MRO to feel like a 1x LPVO.
