@@Osprey1994I sent my gun back to Springfield within a week of buying the prodigy. Here is what Springfield did to my brand new gun: -INSPECTED PISTOL -REAMED & POLISHED CHAMBER -REPLACED THUMB SAFETY -POLISHED FEED RAMP -REFIT BARREL -TUNED EXTRACTOR -REFINISHED SLIDE & FRAME -RESET TRIGGER SCREW. That’s a lot of fixing for a brand new gun. Haven’t got the gun back yet. I’ll say they jumped on the gun right away. Hopefully I gain the confidence back in this gun. @MichaelMorris91 correct, he needs to go down not up. The full size slide is a lot in weight for 9mm range ammo to cycle properly. I'd get a set of #11-#8 springs (about 40usd) and starting from the heaviest go down until you have no more failure to feeds.

@asymsolutions

@MSSynsyterGates it's a flat shooter not a cheap run steel case through it kind of gun. So if you don't use the same ammo they use for testing you'll get bad results. They could make it work with any ammo, but that would require a stupid low lb spring rate that slams the slide into the frame, which is how most common 9mms are tuned. Which of course introduces the issue of limp wristing. If target loads would keep to saami spec, this wouldn't be an issue.

Not all reloading dies properly resize ammo just above of the extractor groove, and, while .388" resizing might cut it for factory Glock barrels, some Prodigy barrels are measuring only .385". I will use some diamond lapping compounds I use for my other pistols. These things would be awesome if they just took an extra 30 minutes to lap them. Even the rails are kinda tight on mine.

I have the 5 inch and shot over 600 rounds through it. Same issues. I recently replaced it with a Wilson combat 12lb recoil spring and so far no issues with 200 rounds through it. The stock spring is wayyyyy too light on these things and you can visibly see it and physically feel it. Upgrading the spring will fix the issue. At first I thought it was my magazines but they run flawlessly now.
Already hearing about some pf these that might be 'tight chambered'. Recommend you plunk test your ammo ahead of time. Not all reloading dies properly resize ammo just above of the extractor groove, and, while .388" resizing might cut it for factory Glock barrels, some Prodigy barrels are measuring only .385". Be careful of 'blaming the extractor' unless plunk testing first.

I noticed when the malfunction occurred. The safety was engaged
Mine was very slow into battery, I think they undersprung the system. I think its an 11lb spring or so. I swapped to a 14 and mine pepped right up. If it were smoother I think it would be fine but its not lapped. I'm going to try to lap the slide to the frame and see if it helps. I will use some diamond lapping compounds I use for my other pistols. These things would be awesome if they just took an extra 30 minutes to lap them. Even the rails are kinda tight on mine. I bought mine to use as a starting point. If I have to add some metal to it to tighten it, I don't mind. Great being a gunsmith sometimes...because now I can have nice things. There’s always a reason for shit like this it’s likely the ammo or the magazine my guess is if you shot a hotter round it’d be less sluggish on the slide and work the way it’s meant to but it could be anything
Very nice……break it in n you will be gravy
I’ll stick to my staccato. I was thinking of getting one of these but not now.

What he said....this is going to be entry level for the rest of us who either cannot or don't want to buy a 2k to 4k pistol which I think is rediculous personally.

Running like a high point.
Pretty much... It is like the disconnector is one giant burr. Should I polish the disconnector or replace it? Another channel used a Wilson Bullet Proof Disconnector and 12lb spring adn viola no issues.
Best 1911 performance to date well done …
Wellllllllll that didn’t go as planed👀

Yes it did. Quit that bullshit
if a firearm has an issue you work it out clean it maintain it polish it etc and if after all that it still don't work then it's a toy not a tool
It's evolving, except backwards
I've had a couple of prodigies and every one of them gave me trouble bought and sold all 3 of them within a fortnight lol
Are you using reloads?
He’s got pretty big hands. I wonder if his crush grip is partially engaging the mag release button causing the stoppages?
I heard this has to do with their placement of the extractor?? Apparently it helps avoid the malfunction if we lightly insert the mag rather than slamming it like were usually taught.
According to my son in law, to the trash can with it if it EVER has a malfunction! We went shooting one day and SAR CM9 (CZ clone) had one failure to eject and I’ve never heard the end of it! To him it didn’t matter that it was the first magazine through it and had not even had the initial cleaning (my fault). But he never has an answer why my groups are .75” and his are 4”! He a Glock fanboy.
with all due respect sir, buying that pistol for $1500, try RIA TAC ultra instead, almost same look and features spending half a price of it. unless you just want the brand. ✌🏻
This giving me PTSD.
The big arms help a lot, Im sure.
Most 2011 style guns have a break in period (up to 500 rds). I mean, except for the staccato...cuz....you know. 😉 BUT I am curious what his left hand was doing and maybe his support thumb had a little too much pressure on the slide or if it was truly the gun
What headset do you use?
I have 15 thousand rounds threw mine now. That hang up happened 5 times. I was smart enough to change recoil spring, an polish that disconnect head

My Springfield runs flawlessly. Shooting low powered ammo or using cheap mags?
What typ of ammo are you using
What's up with the hammer check on the second mag?
