It is commonly used to precast and hold parts of ornamental plasterwork placed on ceilings and cornices. It is also used in medicine to make plaster casts to immobilize broken bones while they heal, though many modern orthopedic casts are made of fibreglass or thermoplastics.
Plaster of Paris is a fine white powder of calcium sulphate hemihydrate. The chemical formula of Plaster of Paris is CaSO4. 1/2H2O.
Gypsum plaster (plaster of Paris)
Gypsum plaster, also known as plaster of Paris, is a white powder consisting of calcium sulphate hemihydrate. The natural form of the compound is the mineral bassanite.
Plaster of Paris, or gypsum plaster, is made by heating gypsum to 150 degrees centigrade, and then mixing the dry plaster powder with water. The powdered gypsum is mixed about two parts plaster to one part water, to create a paste.

    Yes sure Properties of POP 1. It is non-combustible and non-flammable. 2. It slowly expands with a slight setting upon it. (Any surface). 3. After drying it forms a hard mass without any crack.
