    It is simple use of a^2 - b^2 = (a+b)(a-b) For example 15 × 17 = (16 -1)(16 +1)= 16^2 -1 = 256 - 1 = 255

when the number is diffreing by 2 we took 1 square i.e (2/2=1) and when we the diffrence is 4 we took 2 square i.e (4/2=2) and finally when the difference is 6 we have to take (6/2=3) and hence 3square =9 .This is the logic behind that. I hope you could understand this now ..

In that case difference is 6, so half of 6 =3 so 3^2=9

If you want to use this method with numbers that have an odd difference you will wind up squaring with numbers that end in .5. Use the squaring any numbers that end in 5 trick to square them. The product will always end in .25 so you can just not add that since it gets canceled out. Since the squaring numbers that end in 5 trick is not just a number squared so understand n(n+1)=n^2+n to keep the first part of that trick easier to combine with the one in this vidoe when using larger squares you already know the product of. Again, I am using the square any number ending in 5 method, and dropping the .5^2 part of the result. 11x16, difference of 5, 5/2= 2.5 11+2.5=13.5 13^2+13=169+13=182 2.5 2^2+2=4+2=6 182-6=176=11×16
