As a New Yorker, have to say I'm impressed with that bagel! It's so challenging to get a decent one outside of NY, and yours looked great! The pizza though, well, not so much. NY pizza has thin crust and is blistery from intense heat in the pizza oven. Mutton isn't common or iconic of NY, but as you noted, we've got folks from all over here, very diverse, and everyone brings their food along with them. You can find pretty much everything in one or another neighborhood in NY. The cheesecake looked pretty good. NY style (really Brooklyn, Junior's cheesecake) is very creamy and rich. It's also made with cream cheese, same as the bagel. Niagra Falls is in the western part of NY State, on the border with Canada, which has the other, even more beautiful section of the falls known as the Horseshoe Falls. The Finger Lakes are in central upstate NYS, and are (in part) a remnant of the ice age. What you showed was actually Watkins Glen, which is in that general region, but not part of the Finger Lakes per se. The lakes themselves are long, narrow, and run pretty much parallel to each other, like the fingers on a hand. Despite the average colder climate in this part of NYS, but because of the geology and somewhat moderating influence of the lakes, the Finger Lakes became NY's first grape and wine growing area. (Eastern Long Island, with its moderate, maritime climate, has now surpassed it, in terms of the type and quality of wine grapes that can be grown.) Central Park is in the middle of Manhattan, NYC, which is downstate NY State. It was actually designed by architects in the late 1850s to look beautifully natural, a haven from the dense, bustling city that was rapidly encroaching northward and growing up around it. New York State is a great place to live...and visit!!

@@hgodvilla00 What I meant, for those unfamiliar with the area, is that the image shown on screen was not exactly one of the lakes, but instead was Watkins Glen. Yes, it's river empties into Seneca Lake, but is not part of the lake per se. Watkins Glen is at higher altitude and descends down (with all those stunning waterfalls!❤️) to meet the lake. So it's in the region (maybe I should have said "area"), but it's not the lake itself.

Amazing work to my brothers who knew the flag before me! I also must confess (even though my grandmother might be angry) that I often put bagels on my finger as a ring. Boys will be boys. And when I want pizza I go to a place called FireHouse pizza, and get the thin crust meat lovers pizza with 5 different meats on it. If I want a good frozen pizza I get the DiGiorno thin crust three meat pizza, it is the best frozen pizza you can buy, and they only cost $5.00 at Walmart.

The "cheese" that is used in the cheesecake filling, is the same type of cheese that was on the bagels they tried. Cream cheese is very different from the cheese used for burgers and pizza, etc. It's a creamy style of cheese, made from cows milk and it's used in a wide variety of sweet dishes and savory ones. Because it's relatively bland, it's very versatile and can be combined with all types of other ingredients. For instance, the cream cheese that Westerners spread on bagels and other kinds of breads, can be left just as it is or it can be mixed with green onions or chives for an onion-y flavor, or it can be combined with jam or cut up fresh fruits to make it sweet. In shops where they sell bagels, it's up to the person who is eating the bagel to decide whether they want a sweet cream cheese or a savory/salty cream cheese on their bagel. I think it'd be great to show the participants how different types of cheeses are made and what those different cheeses are most commonly used for. That way, they'd understand that it's not the same cheese that's used in every one of the different dishes they try. ☺️ (PS: for future reference, it's not "cream AND cheese". It's simply cream cheese.😉)

I live in the Finger Lakes region. There are several lakes which are long and skinny, so if you look at them on a map, it looks like someone has dragged their fingers through the earth. The images they showed are from a town called Watkins Glen, which is at the southern tip of Seneca Lake. The Glen itself is a state park with multiple waterfalls and a great hiking trail. The town is also home to a salt mine, several wineries, and the Watkins Glen International Raceway, a NASCAR and Indy-Car level racetrack!

Usually bagels aren't eaten like a sandwich unless it has egg or something inside of it. When we eat it with cream cheese it's just half the bagel at a time. Also NY pizza doesn't have such a thick crust on the outside and like another commenter mentioned, it doesn't fall apart when folded. I think your pizza crust was a bit thicker than it supposed to be... It's not a roti you guys 😅 good try anyway 👍🏼 oh yeah, and mutton chops are more of a British thing. It's a sheep not a goat 😂

I am a New Yorker, born and raised. I have lived right outside NYC most of my life and have spent plenty of time in NYC. The pizza shown is nothing like a NY slice. NY pies are thin, unless they are Sicilian. They also looked overdone. We also *do not* eat mutton chops. Ever. I don't even know what mutton is. Almost no one here would. We are also known for Jewish food, like the bagel. Deli food is also emblematic of NYC, ala Katz's deli. Should've had a big pastrami sandwich present. We have all the foods though. We have people from all over the world, so we have food from all over the world. You can get great Asian food of any kind. Good food from India, Pakistan, Ethiopian. Sushi definitely. Even southern food, though not as good as in that region. Great bakeries. Magnolia Bakery is a well known example. Green juice/smoothie bars and salad places are all over. Lot of Irish pubs. Oh! I forgot street food! The hot dog carts are iconic. I love the hot, honey roasted peanuts. Mmm, my favorite. I have a long ago memory of being with family in the city and being entranced by a heavenly scent. Oh, they were so warm and sweet and crunchy, and it was so, so cold. Wonderful experience. I don't think NY cheesecake is as popular as it once was. People have become more health conscious since the 80's/90's. Though people still love expensive steaks. Still a place for what they call 'American' classic fare. Meat and potatoes type food. Even though people eat healthy in general there are a surprising amount of ice cream places it seems. And I grew up eating Italian ice's in the summer at Cross County mall, though that's not NYC. I think New York can't be beat for sheer variety of foods and food that is cutting edge. Anyway, it would be great if they could come visit NYC. So much to see and do. And of course, eat! Anyway, I've made myself good and hungry. Too bad I'm not in the city.

We aren't really known for mutton chops, though we do have it in some restaurants. We have immigrants from all over the globe here, and they bring their food styles with them, with restaurants representing those places. We eat all different nations food styles here. There was one comment in the video that it seemed we here live in the future. In some respects it might seem true. I think it might be just as accurate to say we live with more technology, perhaps. In our cities it's very different than in your villages. Yet, I keep in mind that all peoples desire the same basic things, health, non-poverty, healthy food, fulfilling lives, we just have different expressions of these same desires. I'm probably not explaining it as well as I'd like to. Central Park, one of many in the New York City, is a lovely place. It's safe enough in daylight, when it's crowded. It's not quite as safe at night. That said, it's nothing like how the movies make it seem. Put that image of crime out of your mind. It's not like that. What you see in films is exaggerated. New York State is very large. It has many kinds of terrain, from rural mountain areas, farm land, towns, villages, small and large cities.

I guarantee that these folks are not here for political commentary. If anything, I've noticed that they avoid it, as do the other tribal channels that I'm subscribed to. If you look into the tribal reaction channel genre, you'll find that the reason many of these channels were created was specifically to build cultural bridges and hopefully overcome any division that has existed in the past. And TBH, bagels are not exclusive to any one culture. There are many types of breads from different cultures that have different names, shapes and preparation methods, but they use the same or very similar ingredients and in some cases, cooking methods. It just happens to be that bagels have been associated with Jewish culture in NY City for years because so many Jewish delicatessens offer them. But that doesn't make them exclusively Jewish food. ☺️

I think they're two totally different channels. Reactistan has helped to build a free school for girls, which at least one of the daughters of a participant attends. Two of the participants also have been helped to start their own channels - still small, but very interesting, and authentic. The other one has different goals (not saying I know what they are). I'm not knocking them, because obviously content creators have different goals, but it seems to me like one is more of a business, whereas the other is more involved in charity work 😊
