If the horrors and the violence inflicted by that kangaroo court weren't so real, Freisler acts and talks like a cartoon villain from a comedy. It's too bad he wasn't given the chance to do one final performace, at his own trial, before his own execution. He was killed during an air raid.

You're absolutely right. At least the statement of Graf Schwerin von Schwanenfeld is absolutely hearbreaking, if your able to understand what he said. Not sure what this guy went through before the trial, and having a slight idea how it must have felt during the trial, he stands his ground on camera, in front of Freisler, knowing the upcoming verdict, and mentioning the murder of poles by the germans, with Freisler screaming him down "Murders?!!!?! Youuu - what a shabby bastard you're! " Anyone who is asking "why didn't the "good" germans do anything against the nazis needs to listen to Freisler. You don't need to understand anything at all - just listen, and ask yourself, if you wouldn't be afraid yourself.

@@xwormwood I already know the particular part you are refering to, because there are other short subtitled videos of it, but I wanted to know the whole of it as shown here. Yes, I can understand the fear of the Germans who hated the awful totalitarian Nazi regime and the horrible war it started, but were afraid to do anything to stop it. Alas very few people are brave enough to risk life and limb for peace, freedom and justice and I can't blame them for that because i myself don;t feel all that courageous. Sophie Scholls are a rarity in the world.
