OK now for real: You teach the way one is expected to be taught at Berklee, G.I.T. or Juilliard. By that i mean i feel like i get the opportunity to be there and being allowed to catch up with what was never possible for me. Studying Jazz Concepts presented in a fun, educational and especially understandable way. Eternal gratitude. You are a phenomenal teacher. Greetings from Germany, Chris

You hit a perfect spot between entertaining and pedagogical with these improvisation videos. I can't stress how much I've learned from your system; but not only that -- I feel very inspired to play and keep practicing with your videos, thank you!

I've been taught triad pairs before, and what you've done is take an exercise and make it into music. I've been working on this for a month, and continue to find incredible value each time I work on it. In my sextet, we just started working on Tom Harrell's "Terrestris" which is ... triad pairs! Glorious triad pairs! I have this sudden and immediate insight into a tune I just discovered. My musical skill has taken a huge leap because of this inspiring teaching you created - THANK YOU!

With this one video I've absorbed so much more information on how to create interesting lines on my sax, my keyboard and marimba solos! The way you express the emotional component and how it relates to the specific triad pairs and rhythmic combinations makes so much sense to me, I feel like it's starting to open the door to the next level of jazz improvisation understanding for me! Instantly subscribed!

This is brilliant, Nick!! Your method is both fun and effective. Keep up the wonderful work. I would love to see you make a video on simple ideas to play "outside" for short phrases using arpeggios (dominants and/or diminished). This has always challenged me. I hear beautiful passages in lots of music where the soloist steps outside on an arpeggio and it sounds awesome!
