I am Canadian and I liked Trey and was sorry to see him leave Congress and I agree with Trey about Jim Jordan. You may wonder why a Canadian would be aware of what the US government does. We Canadians have tired our country to almost total dependence on the US and what you people do effects us. We have only a trace amount of gold and our arm forces are small. Will, enjoyed your interview with Trey. his South Carolina accent brought back memories from when I was 19 yrs old , December 1965. I received a personal invitation from my uncle Sam to attend an all inclusive , paid , eight week fitness vacation at an exclusive club called Ft. Jackson in the woods of South Carolina. I ilearned to fear and respect it over my 8wk stay. I grew up in south jersey and knew nothing about the deep south. all the other boys were from Florida to North Carolina , all with their own accents. what an experience. In eight weeks we grew from boys to men, they called me a swamp Yankee . the accent had a special quality at 4:30 in the morning coming from a bulldog with a smokey bear hat. 8 weeks of hell I wouldn't trade for anything. thank you.

I really thought people would be held accountable. I had hope. But then they both quit and I remember thinking, we're doomed. I was disappointed in both of them, my hope turned to despair. Then I realized that I put too much faith in these two mortal men who never took on the role of savior. The people also need to stand up for themselves, not rely on someone to lead/save them. I always really liked this guy because he has (and still does) impressed me as a real person. My only regret about him is that he quit. To me, not finishing what you start IS failure in the deepest sense. Honestly, most of the failure in my life has been just that... not being willing to stay the course and fight the battles and disappointment that come with ANY fight. If we are only willing to stay in the fight if it's clear we will win, we are not committed to the cause or the fight but rather to our own image as a fighter. I hope someday we find a man with Mr. Gowdy's character and abilities that won't quit in the middle of the fight. I still think a lot of him as a man... but I am disappointed that he no longer desires to be our champion.
