She could have still asked him all of those questions and made her point while actually having a conversation if she was a skilled journalist. Makes me miss guys like Ed Bradley so much more.

I saw the original interview. As a journalist ... I can say she's incompetent. Hard hitting questions doesn't mean sticking to your agenda but listening to the person's response and asking the hard follow up. That's the key. Allow the person to speak to address the question, then ask the direct follow up. She's horrible and Trevor handled that like a champ.

My favorite part about this interview is that its supposed to enforce and draw focus to issues regarding skin colour but also manages to categorize all black people as the same and try to draw abitrary connections all while acting ignorant at the same time. Truly a masterclass in shitty interview technique. Take notes journalists! Surprise Trevor didnt say ''Well youre black. Why dont we have the exact same opinion?'' Also, if being ''african america'' is a statement of being unique and separate, does that also not mean that they intentionally decided to have a connection but not the confused with africans? They are born, raised and live on a different continent and know nothing about the intricate parts of each others culture.

Great reaction video! Smart, insightful and funny! I remember when I first saw this interview years ago how annoyed I was with the interviewer. I have seen many of her interviews for years before on the BBC and all she does is interrupt her guests and put them down. In about 35% to 50% cases, she has done that when a guest is talking BS or not answering her questions, and I have agreed with her interjections; however, in this case, she seems to have an agenda here to put him down. She doesn't seem to understand what comedy is and clearly does not understand context and did not do her research on Trevor's comedy to understand where he is coming from. I am pleased to see how Trevor set her straight. Other guests have not been able to do that. Merci!

Journalist, “Yeah but he’s black.” As if all black people everywhere are all the same. The narrow mindedness of that statement just really shows where she was going with this interview. Trying to guilt someone to feel bad about someone else’s experience that they don’t and never will feel bad about. That’s THAT person’s experience and feelings from somewhere else, not Trevor’s. I mean, I didn’t really get anything about race until my pops got stationed in the south when I turned 9. Other than that, the only thing I knew when it came to color was what I saw in my crayon box or ice cream flavors. That was my experience as a child, but taken out of context could offend a lot of people. So, her demeaning his personal experience and trying to take everything out of context deliberately is just all around rude.

So might as well say most of black Africa isn't "black enough" because they don't eat Caribbean food. Trevor should have questioned her on that in return. This is the level of mental infantilism we are dealing with when it comes to the inclusion and diversity crowd in the West which is put into actual management and power positions. For me its funny how some black people from the US call themselves African-Americans, when the only thing relates them to Africa is some ancestors that got enslaved by other black tribes and sold. Didnt those people live enough generations in the US by now to just feel like Americans? Why the seperation? In a lot cases you can be happy you live in the US, even the people live in the US slums often have more than the regular people in a lot other countries on the world, such high is the US wealth status. Additionaly you guys have the right to speak whatever is on your minds and not being pulled away the next day by state special units and never been found again. I really dont understand people that claim to their long long ago roots so extremely, how can you claim to a root you basicaly never experienced yourself? You did not grew up in Africa, you did not experience the sturggle of people live in the countries there, so how can you identify yourself as such just by some ancient ancestors and by a color of your skin? I know some white people in the US do the same BS too, they call themself Anglo-americans or so. I really dont get it. You guys live in a solely different country, never really experienced the life of those countries you want to identify yourself with, thats so broken. Same issue we have here in germany with the tukish people in germany, they dont want to forget those roots, do not integrate, but became somethings between a german and a turkish person. If they go to Turkey the really turkish people there just shake their heads about them because they are so different. So as a "african-american" you have barelly anything in common to people living in African countries, you never went trough their struggles, you people are just Americans.

That was an interrogation, not an interview. Trevor outclasses every single interviewer who tries to trigger him. Just by simply speaking calmly and eloquently he makes them seem dumber with each reply. I wonder how much of Trevor's local stand up she has watched - before he went international. As a South African, I respect how he handles race because nobody is safe. It doesn't matter what flavour of chocolate you are!
