He's trying to save face with fans. He does Not do anything unless it will benefits him. His poll on which team he will join, and he ends up joining the best one on paper, and the best for his buck. He pissed a lot of people off. Now he's trying to muddy the waters of dismay. Plus he's a cheater...so there is that too.

He cheats in the same capacity almost every other pitcher in the big leagues does. I think the fact that he's so transparent about the pine tar use in the MLB is kind of refreshing. It's childish to act like cheating isn't widespread in every major sport; at least be willing to talk about it.
