Using tretinoin can come with a lot of side effects. While I’ve made many videos with these tips already, I still get so many comments/DMs about this. These are some things I did when I started tretinoin to help minimize irritation. I currently use .05 Tretinoin combined with 15% azelaic acid but i worked my way up to this veryy slowly. It’s not a race 🤍 I get mine from Dermatica. dermati.ca/sarahhus Beauty of Joseon cleansing balm Face reality ultra gentle cleanser Real barrier intense moisture cream Cere ve healing ointment

The routine that has been working wonders for my skin… In the nighttime: 1- Micellar Water to Remove Makeup or Sunscreen 2- Gentle Hydrating Cleanser 3- Hydrating Essence or Serum (I don’t like layering moisturizer, so I use something lighter.. this step helps minimize irritation and flaking) 4- Tretinoin 5- Moisturizer In the morning, I wash with water, then I apply the following: 1- Vitamin C Serum 2- Moisturizer (sometimes I skip it if my sunscreen is already too moisturizing, especially in the summer) 3- Sunscreen

Tretinoin is a topical medication that is commonly prescribed for the treatment of acne. It works by increasing cell turnover and preventing the formation of new acne lesions. Tretinoin is often used in combination with other acne medications, such as benzoyl peroxide or antibiotics, to achieve the best results. Tretinoin can be effective for treating both mild and moderate acne, and it may also help to reduce the appearance of existing acne scars. However, it is important to note that tretinoin can cause skin irritation and sensitivity, so it should be used under the guidance of a healthcare professional.

If you have very dry or sensitive skin, for the love of God, do not use Tretinoin as the first option. Start with retinol. Cerve or Inkey have good retinol serum. You should never use Tret as the first option, it's just too strong and most people do not need it. You should never use more actives than what your skin requires.

For sensitive/dry skin, I wouldn’t advise to top off the tretinoin with a moisturizer because you shouldn’t massage tretinoin. When you apply a moisturizer on top of it, you are also massaging tretinoin. Being a very potent ingredient, it can irritate your skin.

Uhm no? You should wait 10-20 minutes to apply moisturizer on top of tretinoin because the tretinoin will have dried down by that time so there’s no chance of ‘massaging’ it since the tretinoin will have absorbed. I follow Dr Stefanie Kappel advice on Tretinoin, she is an experienced dermatologist. She advises to mix a pea size Tretinoin with a face cream like sandwich together and apply to dry clean face. We have to start with the smallest disage like 0.025 and slowly wirk our way up in the frequency, once our skin can tolerate it daily, then we increase the dosage to 0.05. We repeat the process again we apply once or twice a week for a couple weeks, then slowly increase the frequency if the skin tolerats it for several weeks before we once again increase the potency to 0.1. Sunscreen is a must when using Tretinoin.

I knew that was loads of misinformation and it makes me sad that they think they’re liable to give advice. When I resisted she persisted with frustration. Don't do any of the things these people commented! I can tell you from first-hand experience that these things will wreck the skin on your lips. The actual best thing is to use a lip balm with SPF. SPF applied regularly over several months naturally lightens skin, and that includes the lips. If that doesn't do as good a job as you want, or you want faster results, use a vitamin C lip product (at night). Look for something that has vitamin C high up on the ingredients list (because that usually means a higher concentration of product). Meanwhile, continue to use the SPF during the day - it will become even more important when using vitamin C, because even though vit C reduces pigmentation, it also increases your skin's sensitivity to sunlight... meaning if you don't protect it, the chances of getting sunburnt or even darker pigmentation will increase.

@@aditiiichhetry I'd never advise against doctor advice, so probably give what they recommended a shot (washing it off after 30 min will probably help avoid some of the irritation) and if you flare up still maybe try putting moisturizer on first before application :)

Yes purging is normal for many in the first 6 weeks. If the purging gets too intense or lasts too long I’d get back to your dr on it. But a few here and there may happen since any oils underneath are coming to the surface. Thank you so much ❣️❣️

I did tretinoin differin and benzoyl peroxide (not all at one time) and sadly they cleared my acne but I had TERRIBLE allergic reactions on my face 😔 if you have sensitive skin like me it’ll work for sure just make sure it’s not too rough for your skin ☺️

Yeah I'm on adapalene right now, making my way up to tretinoin. I learned the hrs way to start using some ointment in the hot spot areas... my poor upper lip got so red and dry. I guess I was accidentally getting retinol on my lips once I would apply my moisturizer... I guess it was scooting around on my face and it touched my lips and got terribly dry.

My dermatologist said to use Tretinoin first then apply moisturizer, if I layer it it’s less effective. I saw a dermatologist influencer, Dr Daniel Sugai about layering like you but I got no reply from him. What’s your opinion?

By your 20s id definitely start a retinoid of some kind. It helps to start with over the counter Retinoids and slowly working your way up to tretinoin since it is so strong. However it’s often prescribed before 20 depending on skin concerns. Just depends on your dr and your skin.
