    It is indeed refreshing to see the smoothing and planing process being done without the use of sand paper and orbital sanders. These works of functional art must be a privilege to own, and are worth whatever is written on the price tag.

    There is something magical at the 6:20 mark when you are smoothing, and you can literally watch the grain start popping out, even from far away. I love your work. As a novice, I find your work greatly inspiring. There is an elegance in your work that is rivaled by very few. Thank you for sharing your mastery with us!

    Utterly beautiful. Your work is truly amazing. I still fail to understand how breadboard ends can work with a dimensional lumber top and seasonal expansion. I get the spring joint, but then it seem like the draw pins effectively negate that effect? Or is that the purpose behind the odd-shaped holes, that it allows the end not to restrict expansion? And despite all of that, won't you always have ends that are often wider or narrower than the rest of the table? Gah! Help!

  • @lateralus423

    @lateralus423

    Yes, the holes are elongated on the tenon to allow movement for the top and yes there will be some degree of movement resulting in a more or less proud bread board end.

    I really like your work, the design and attention to detail. I can't help but noticing that your finishes mostly have amber/yellow-orange tints. Is this an American thing? The maple for example is lovely and light but the finish darkens it considerably.

Also, do you camber any of your plane irons? If so, which ones? Not really expecting you guys to have a lot of time to answer questions in youtube vids, but there it is.
