Trenching for Our Off Grid Water Tanks | No More FREEZING Water!

We need to finish burying the water tanks before winter hits!
💥We NEED to Stop Our Off Grid Water Tanks from FREEZING this Winter👉 • We NEED to Stop Our Of...
In this video we use our LS tractor to dig a 230 foot long trench that ranges from 4 to 5 feet deep, which is below our frost level. We then lay our pipe in the trench and plumb it to the 3 off grid water tanks and the frost free hydrant.
Water is the lifeblood of life! It’s essential for us to come up with solutions for our North Idaho off grid homestead to improve our lifestyle.

what I love about living in the middle of the woods is blasting my music outside while I am working cutting firewood or whatever. I just turned 60 and I still blast my music like I did when I was a teenager. Only thing that’s missing is my black bean bag chair and my Koss headphones. I still have my Marantz hi-fi system..lol. Remember when we called it “quadraphonic” that’s a word you haven’t heard in several decades..lol

Lol! Yes! I love blasting my music too! Especially when I’m cleaning the cabin! I don’t remember the word quadraphonic. But, what about getoblaster? Lol
That is going to be nice this winter.

The biggest thing is getting your systems setup. Little by little, we’re getting there. 😀
Nice catch. It seems like it’s a mad dash for everyone to get there projects done before winter.

That sounds about right. I really wanted more flow. But the bigger diameter pipe is pretty pricey.
I’m up in the woods in Idaho it’s been so dry here this Summer for the first time in eight years are well has run dry. I am definitely going to implement your idea next summer
@BreakingFreeOffGrid
Жыл бұрын
It was a very dry summer! We don’t have a well, so this is our best option. We’ll also be adding more tanks for summer use in the future. As long as our seasonal creek keeps running in the spring, we should be golden. Please keep us updated when you start your project. 😀

You know if you fill dirt in around the tanks, when the water level lowers as you use it, the tanks will collapse as the dirt pushes in on them!!
@BreakingFreeOffGrid

Yes, we are aware of that. We will not be completely burying them. Just enough to let the geothermal energy do it’s job.

That is an excellent idea. How will it work transferring by pipe of course to your cabin, so that doesn't freeze too?? We have to cut off our water when it freezes, to prevent the drill/well head for further ruin. We've had the pump reservoir de-thawned once one winter. Now, we are just shutting it down, draining and heading south.. My nerves/muscles can't take the extreme cold anymore. Kudo's to you both, ya'll are tough!!! Hey, my dog and I talk shit about ya!! Lol....

We’ll use a hose from the hydrant to fill our tanks in the cabin. Just have to make sure the hose isn’t frozen when we need it. We’ve been using a hose to fill the cabin since the tanks were installed in the cabin.

@@BreakingFreeOffGrid Sounds, like a good plan. When they installed our black hose from the barn it was laid about 3 feet down. Then when the solar was installed, we re-dug it, and laid the solar conduit from the barn to the house in that trench. The solar guys accidentally CUT the water line, and then they for sure repaired it before finishing up. I took off 3 days from work that week, to be onsite for the entire installation. What a chore that was!! Our son is going to be up in Idaho this week, his boss is transferring there to work at one of the state hospitals. So, never know one of these days we might just fly up to see the state eventually, or haul a trailer with the truck! Stu's a genius with those hoses!!
@BreakingFreeOffGrid

@@mymonanfarms1081 at least they fixed it, but I can see how that would be a pain. Once we have our new cabin built, the water will be plumbed to the cabin.
