TREES v’s SEA WHERE DO YOU LOVE TO CAMP? | We finally found a FREEBIE | NO KOALAS! - Ep 38

This week, we continue our journey south and find a beautiful free camp in the heart of a state forest. We set up and use this as our base camp to explore the area.
The free camp is located in the Coopernook State Forest at the old Rangers HQ. The camp offers a large flat grass area which is suitable for all types of set ups and is surrounded by beautiful tall trees . There are toilets and access to fresh drinking water. The day use area is a short walk away from the campground also has barbecues and picnic tables.
The forestry allows you to camp here for free for up to one month at a time. We grabbed ourselves, a beautiful spot, bathed in sunlight to soak up the solar and allow us to enjoy our beautiful surrounds. They are plenty of trees dotted throughout the campground which allow for beautiful shade if full sun is not for you.
We take a day trip into the Crowdy Bay National Park and discover some beautiful beachfront campsites at Kylie‘s and Diamond Bay beaches We take the walking track to Kylie‘s hut and discover a traditional wood slab building built for Kylie Tennant, who was an Australian writer and wrote the book the main on the Hill about the owner of the property, Mr Metcalfe.
We’ll take you for a drive through the state forest to admire the ever-changing landscape from sparsely wooded areas to tropical rainforest on our way to Vincent lookout which offers 360° views of the forest, mountains and ocean. The lookout is about 9 km away from our campsite. The Coopernook State Forest is a great place if you’re into your four-wheel-drive or you love a bit of motocross or you just want to kick back and relax.
So go and get yourself a cold drink and come and us for the adventure.

Another good one, we have been overseas so binged on a few missed episodes… Coopernook Pub is a great pub stay and we often use it for a first night north van stay. Some good free and low cost stays in the Hunter Valley region on your way through. Travel safe!

Apparently I was just told by a reliable sauce, the place at Lake Cathie that you stayed in as a child was owned by a family friend’s sister. Also the place you thought it was is correct too 😊

Hi, have been really enjoying your videos since subscribing a few months ago, thanks. If you are heading to the Hunter Valley there are a couple of free camps we have used that are good. McNamara Park at Broke, which is part of the wine growing region and Gloryvale Reserve which is outside of the town of Gloucester . Both have toilets but no other facilities, but are usually quiet and not crowded.

Can you stay at the free camp in the state forest with dogs? Lots of people travel with dogs and would be great if you could mention if a site is pet friendly or not. Enjoying your channel. .👍

Hey guys yes they do. The Coopernook State Forest allows dogs. We use an app called Wiki Camps to find camp sites it also shows camps where dogs are permitted. We hope this helps 🤓

hey guys thanks for watching, all our gear is Enerdrive. We have 400ah of lithium with 720 watts of solar on the roof of the van, we also use a cheap 200watt solar blanket from time to time. The van is fitted with a 40amp dc-dc charger, a 60amp ac charger and a morning star Tri star controller to receive solar and power at the same time. We run all our 240v off a 2600w inverter. The system works well for us. We’ve been off grid now for about 16 days and everything is rolling a long nicely. hope this helps

@@RaisedtoRoam yes we do, we can really push it for about 4-5 hours on about 23 degrees if we really need to but it kills the battery, so we normally run it on hot nights for about 30 - 45 mins on 18 degrees to cool the van enough to go to sleep, that uses about 20% of our battery.
