Misdirected lashes, loss lashes, but, no inflamation or dry eyes..That was me, until about a month ago. I started using Tea Tree soap and Heyedrate solution. I'm pretty happy with the results. No more sudden itch. No more overly crusty eyelids and corners of the eyes. I understand I might have to continue with this treatment forever. I don't mind.

You stated that these mites do not live in scalp hair. That statement is incorrect. Demodex mites can live in ANY hair follicle anywhere on the body!

  • @ritah.6752

    @ritah.6752

That is correct. Demodex brevis lives in the oil glands. The "T zone" on the face can be one of the most active areas affecting humans, without having an infestation, because of the abundance of oil glands. Western scientists are finding that most rosacea and acne cases are also attributed to these microscopic creatures. Chinese and Indian medical professionals have known about and treated demodex infestations for decades. There are OTC products available that are formulated to kill demodex mites. "Face Doctor" and "Face Surgeon" are two soaps that I am familiar with. There are also OTC treatments produced in the Orient that appear to successfully alleviate demodex symptoms as well.

Rita H. depends how many demodex u have..... hair follicles are the prevered place...... but they also use the public hair....shown as a light cover ofer the hair....(especially the males...m3.wyanokecdn.com/8ab4ed6ac1c9288676c7059bdd7101fd.jpg here u see it on a eye lash ( demodex brevis---) ur skin haven t to be oily to get demodex- if its as a massiv healt problem- its mostly host as a reason---not always----- my sister is infected too with to many demodex but she could reduce it---- i could till now but i made the same ---even more now-----the different is she had less conntact to the parents of us............. i had many contact (and my immun system was always bader). so u can t say its all the same------------my skin was also not oily as child--- i have demodex since im 3 years old but just on my skalp, and around body- as teenager massiv in hair and face. Now allover... sure every infection of mites are different and there are many ways how u can get demodex------ i would not trust much anymore human mediciners they still think the white stuff are death cells, thats also a mite- i film and study this animal now since over 6 month. called callused skin/dandruff...... africanhairblog.files.wordpress.com/2011/06/dandruff.jpg www.whatcausesthis.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/dandruff2.jpg all mites no cells- i got demodex before i had the callused skin mite that much....... ( i could slap this idiot of a mediciner ....he told the ppls thats a part of the skin ....but his alredy death) especially the use of ivermecin as a topic or oral would be between 20- 23.5 mg ivermecin once a week over 3 weeks- i got 2 mg from a doctor- used from animal medicin- so sure ivermecin dosent works well simple the the dose is wrong- so if it helps with animals and dosent work on humans that must be the reason.........

How do you find a doctor to treat this? Why is it such an unknown problem with many doctors? They think you are making it all up. If I can find information on the internet, why can't a board-certified dermatologist know what it is? This isn't spin the bottle, go to a doctor until he believes you. How in the heck does one find a doctor that is skilled in treating this?

I don't know what to say, or even ask for. Michael I never in my life knew this condition ever existed. Why board certified doctors act like they have never heard of this is beyond me. I think whats worse is the fact that you get a quick referral to a psychiatrist and given a Prozac and Xanax prescription. For some reason, my husband is the only one who has the condition. He had it for a very long time and was bothered day and night with it, until one night he began to see small bugs come out of his face and burrow back down into his skin. That's when he about lost it. He has gotten worse and unbelievably, he has a separate condition- there is a different type of parasite which is in his arm. It looks more of a spiderish type of thing. It lays dormant for a while then begins coming out of his arm. There is a little tenicle that pokes out of the skin first, and then it starts burrowing out from under the skin. He's tried to pull it out and has made ugly deep scars on his arms. When he tries to pull it out, the best he can do is get pieces. We are thinking the only place he could have gotten this is at his dads old house that he had to clean out after he died. There were rats, animal feces and who knows what else. It was disgusting. Honestly, I'm afraid my husband is going to want to kill himself one day because no one will help him, not even the CDC. We're in San Antonio, and we should have someone who knows what to do, someone to help us, we are begging for help but we just get turned away like disgusting scum. It's embarrassing, humiliating, and it consumes our lives. We need a break, one helping hand, one person who will really look at this. If I cant get someone to help us, I am most likely going to end up a widow.

Michael, I'm sorry, I'm not trying to waste your time, and I'm not begging for your help. I just haven't gone back to check my messages. I'm not playing around with you and I've been overwhelmed with the way our life is now that it consumes every waking moment. es my husband is stressed. He went through 6 months caring for his dying father sleeping in a chair beside him every night. Yes, My husband's immune system is compromised. He takes medication , which lowers his immune system because he had colon cancer and his large intestine removed. His white blood cells would attack his system so now he has a very low immune system. He has the demodex mite and as been pretty good now at keeping them under control. He is on his 3rd round of Ivermectin, which is scary because that is poison in your body This thing on his arms is just something I can't begin to know what it is. It begins to develop a large purple bump on his arm which grows and sits still for weeks. Then he can feel it move around, like digging out of his arm. It digs its way out. It is small like a little fly. It has worm or grubs on the holes that it leaves. The grubs are slimy white and have these rows of dots vertical across their back. They die when they are out on the skin. He has been to doctor after doctor and of course, they think he is crazy. There is one doctor helping him and thought they could be Bot Flys, but they aren't big enough for Bot Flys. This all began when he began to clean the nasty conditions his father was living in. Animal feces, urine, rats in the garage. We never knew it was in this condition, he would never let anyone in his house until he became ill, had a stroke and we moved him out. That's when all this started. While his dad lies dying we noticed all these purple bumps on him but attributed it to him falling. They were particularly bad on his arms. But we didn't think much of it and my husband didn't start showing these symptoms until a month or so after his dad died. My husband was the one who had physical contact with him. He was his caregiver. This is driving my husband into a person I don't know. And I don't know what to do to help. I get frustrated too and wonder if its real, is it something else, even though I see what he experiences. jojomo1323@gmail.com

Michael Kyriacopoulos- I just love the way you flit around from one vulnerable person to the next. You urgently say I can help you! Then when the person doesn't reply to you immediately you are nasty and scold them about how they are wasting your time. REALLY??? I'm beginning to think that YOU ARE THE ONE who's a pure waste of time. No one, let alone an intelligent educated professional needs a condesending jerk such as yourself to yell and belittle us because we weren't hanging by the computer every second with the hope that you might possibly send your life-saving words of help in our dire time of need. Now, I will ask you this....DO YOU UNDERSTAND? Stop playing games. You have no intentions of helping anyone except yourself. You're building up your ego by pretending to be someone who can help, hoping we won't see through your facade, and enjoying seeing desperate people beg YOU for help. Well, it didn't work so fuck off. DO YOU UNDERSTAND?

Mentioned the demodex mite to my opthalmologist who has treated me for ocular rosacea with doxycyline, and he poo poo'd it saying "that's not what brought you here, all you need to do is concentrate on what I'm prescribing for you, its genetic." $$$$$$$$ I've spent over $1000 on visits and anti-biotics. I'm weening myself off the drugs after halving the dose he recommended, didn't go back to see him because of the dollar signs in his eyes. Now, I'm looking into other causes including diet.

I was on that stuff for a few years and it destroyed my liver. I thought my liver was a lost cause because even after stopping in my mid 20s, my liver continued to decline. I was stuck paying $175 TWICE A WEEK for several months to have a nurse come out and run glutathione IVs on me in attempt to repair my liver. It worked, but holy hell it was expensive, and insurance refused to cover it. Most insurance won’t cover it. I am glad you are no longer on longterm antibiotics.

As well as using tea tree shampoo and eye wipes, I also use a half teaspoon of UMF20+ manuka (a type of tea tree) honey dissolved in a 1/4 cup of distilled water with a pinch of sea salt to make an eye drop formula to treat my demodex blepharitis. I use the a couple of drops in each eye 3 to 4 times daily. The results have been astounding. I highly recommend this method in combination with good eye hygiene. You can buy manuka honey eye drops but I personally prefer to make my own as they are far cheaper and just as effective. If you are making your own eye drops be sure to use a sterile container and dropper to inhibit any further infection and don't use boiling or hot water to dissolve the honey as it will kill any antibiotic properties it has to offer.

I've had demodex problems since I was very little but I only know now that it was a mite causing all of my problems. I'm so glad I know how to treat it now but I wish that a doctor like you had told my mom in the 90s to use tea tree oil! When I was younger I would get frequest styes and my eyelids would crack so much that the bled and burn, it was awful to go through as a small child. The only advice we got from the doctor was to use eczema cream and baby soap on my eyelids. It eventually would clear up and come and go throughout my life until the age of 28 when I would experience blepharitis again. Now I have so much more information thanks to the internet.

@@lindalou7876 The only way I was able to get it under control was with oral medication doxycycline. I used this in combination with the cliradex wipes all over my face. The cliradex wipes on their own worked but the numbers would always come back and come back even worse than before. Diet and hormones also play a major role in infestation. At the time I became infected I was under extreme stress (being cheated on by my partner) and also ingesting high amounts of processed food as well as alcohol. Since then I've cut all that out of my life which has also majorly boosted my immune system's ability to fight them.

It seems to always be the best cure for everything parisitic .. gotta get a script from the doctor and idk about u but these damn doctors just don't wanna prescribe antibiotics. You would swear I was asking for morphine when I ask the doctor for a simple oral antibiodic.its started on Easter .I've had 3 different doctors with 3 different diagnosed and not one will give me a damn antibiotic ???I have gone to the ER(the doctor thinks I may have scleraderma) ,then the family doctor feels it's just viral ..skin issue and gave me topical(steroid)and the dermatologist that she referred me to said she believes it to be seborrheic dermatitis...and yet I'm experiencing literally flat white , black, brownish, rust colored pieces falling off from my face,(mainly outer part of face(upper forehead, eye brows, in front of ears, especially where side burns would be if I had any.. ears, (I ended up with a ruptured eardrum cuz of this supposed virus...its also affecting my neck, upper back, and wrists, and my fingertips are a nightmare .. I'm even spitting them out when I brush my teeth and use peroxide or mouthwash. I have what looks like tiny whitish/clear worms in my pee and have similar things when I blow my nose..these FN things literally sparkle (sounds crazy) at times usually when wet or put my facial oil on them.. I don't know wtf is going on.. but it all happening on Easter and I'm still dealing with it.. I just wanna know what it is so i can get it treated . I apologize for the lengthy response but it's alot of weird stuff going on and hoping to find someone who has dealt with something this bizarre. I'm glad to hear that you found something to work for you though.

@@lindalou7876 I've also started using an at home IPL handset on the lower half of my face to destroy the hair follicles and seeing how that goes as far as reducing my inflammatory reactions without antibiotics. But you can't use those around your eyes which tend to be where the problem is. I would suggest trying to get a prescription for a round of antibiotics and then after that if things are balanced hopefully your body is able to fight them on its own like its supposed to.

I have had a very difficult time getting any doctor to investigate the lesions I have had all over my body, for over five years, without being accused of self inflicting them. Not one of the doctors has done a skin scraping or listened to me explain what these very painful lesions were like. I have read whatever I could get my hands on and have tried so many treatments others proclaimed had worked for them, because I have been so desperate for a cure. Most things only lessened the severity of the problem for a short time and then it came back as bad or worse. I recently came across an article stating that a prophylactic dose of doxycyclene had been effective at eliminating mites that had burrowed deep into the pores of the skin where topical treatments could not reach and had no effect. I discussed this with my GP and she was willing to give it a try! I am about three weeks into the treatment and am actually seeing results! The areas of my skin that were the worst had grown thick and swollen. That has begun to heal with quite a lot of debis sloughing off. I has looked rather disgusting, but I am seeing new, healthy skin underneath and the thickness and swelling has disipated. The lesions have gotten smaller and some have healed. There is a lot of scarring where the sores have been persistant, one forming on top of another before it heals or two or more merging together to form a huge lesion. I am hoping I might see a specialist who treats patients who have been burned, because that is how bad my skin looks. When I was in my 30s and 40s, I was treated for what they thought was adult acne. I am confident now that demodex was the problem then too. Doxycyclene was the only prescription that healed those lesions. Hopefully, what I have written will help others facing the same problem and getting no help from the medical comminity!

Scott Schachter Go to the CDC site and search cats and dogs sleeping with owners to see the different reports on what animals can vector and transmit to owners when they allow animals to lick their faces and sleep with them. There are many scientific reports backed by data. Anything falling from the orifices of animals sharing human beds gets on pillows and sheets and is rubbed on to faces and eyes and breathed in to lungs and sinuses. And as we scientists know, parasites produce nits, eggs, nymphs and toxins which cause secondary disease as well.

Anna Lisa Surprisingly, schizophrenia is developed from breathing in the dust from cat feces in changing the soiled sand year after year. I know of a woman who has had this disease for at least 12 years now, and keeps 16 cats in her house. You cannot cure schizophrenia. But it does not take 16 animals to vector this disease - it takes breathing fecal dust in any amount year after year. Read about it in the CDC site. No longer wonder why "cat ladies" are "crazy". You have your answer.

tanning was a waste, awful waste...these things live under the skin so that is no good...now DMSO applied to the skin over some iodine tincture is awesome, then use neem oil. The DMSO breaks them out of cell walls too and the fibers come out of the skin. Use stuff from feed stores not from Amazon. The difference in product is night and day. xylitol instead of sugar used internally and topically makes them go nuts they eat it and die and the stuff tastes great. I even throw it in my wine and coffee etc. You can have it melted in a cup of good purified water and slather it on the skin it breaks biofilm, 65% of all diseases are caused by biofilm, you want that biofilm gone.

  • @raptureready5004

I take ivermectin every day...in red wine and it helps... so I did iodine tincture on the skin, with makeup brush slather it on...then apply DMSO (try a feed store iI think it is better quality than Amazon stuff) let it sink in...take that xyltol (do you have any?) and I boil water and put it in there and brush it over the area infected, the fibers come out...use neem oil and slather on there it helps a whole lot. Castor oil is a good "pulling" agent too. eat that xyltol and use the gum and keep it ongoing it tastes so good and breaks and destroys biofilm our worst enemy. I am so psyched by this newfound concept I believe it is a game changer.... biofilm is enemy number one... I have done just EVERYTHING....I believe this is amazing...fibers are nano and have got to go. Please follow up with me so we can share I really think this is it. God Bless.

That wasn't just in the 80's and 90's. It is still happening to crack/meth addicts right now. The term for having this murderously intense itching sensation or bug crawling on the skin sensation is 'Crank Bugs'. The misery is quite terrible for those who are afflicted. It is not a laughing matter at all. These illegal street drugs are mixed with all kinds of unknown chemicals, pesticides, rat poisons and worse. These addicts have no idea what poison they've just shot up or inhaled. It is not an imaginary delusion. It is a real, physical response to a poison or allergen that the body is reacting to. Not funny. It's really pretty terrible.

The reason ppl that are on meth/crack is because they don't sleep n these things have to come out to mate. Doctors know everyone has over 250 parasites that live on our bodies but choose to make fun n put down the "druggies" that see them. Guess they don't want other people to get scared. Who knows. I've seen them before I did drugs n seen alot more during my drug use. I already knew what lives on our skin so I never freaked out n picked. Doctors need to let ppl know it's ok to have them to a point then ppl would stop trying to kill them buy digging wholes.

Anna Lisa - I know your post is old, but perhaps this will help you or others reading this. I am a researcher and have seen firsthand how effective tea tree oil is under the microscope. It literally causes the mites to flee from the area. Here is what I recommend: Assemble the following: 1. small shot glass or dappen dish 2. small clean eye dropper or tiny plastic bulb syringe 2. sterile non-preservative eye drops - or - sterile distilled water 3. tea tree oil 4. 50% isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol 5. Sterile Q-tips Directions: In the glass container use a dropper or syringe to measure out a drop or two of both tea tree oil and rubbing alcohol. Then add 2-3 teaspoons saline solution or distilled water. Swirl solution to mix. Dip the sterile Q-tip into the solution and gently rub back and forth across your closed eyelid, paying special attention to the lash margins. These mites burrow deeply and you are trying to flush them and massage them out. Toss out that used Q-tip. Repeat with another clean Q-tip. Dip into the solution and go over and around the area. If you feel that some has migrated into the eye and it is stinging, drip some sterile saline or distilled water onto another Q-tip and rub over the area that is stinging. This should make it stop. Make sure you go over the entire eyelid and eyebrow area. If you can tolerate it, go over the entire face and jawline including the earlobes and inside the nose. These are the areas they are always found in great numbers. Repeat this daily if you can tolerate it, or at least several days a week. Change pillow cases often. When you believe you have achieved good results on the face, continue on to the scalp as they are there in the millions. (No joke. Everyone I have tested has them all through their hair. They are quite disturbing to see on a 24" monitor that my microscope is tied to.) Soak all combs and brushes in peroxide or scrub with tea tree oil shampoo each week. Repeat this at least several times a week. This may be necessary for several weeks or months to eradicate the majority. Good luck!

Last night I helped a friend clean out his attic. As soon as I left the house I began to feel things crawl on me under my t shirt and on my face and hair. At first I ignored it, I thought maybe it was fiberglass from the insulation in the attic but then when I tried going to sleep that night when I turned off my light I began to feel a burning sensation on my eyebrows I began rubbing it and I noticed as I was rubbing it I started feeling my eyebrows swell up and felt numbness in the area. I thought maybe I had hives because I've had hives many times as a kid and I remembered the feeling of my face swelling only this time it didn't itch at all it still doesn't itch but when I turn my lights off my eyebrows immidiately start burning and swelling. I looked real close in the mirror and noticed what looked like dry skin between my eyebrows which I do get dry skin in that area sometimes but when I do I can simply brush it off. I tried brushing them off but they did not move at all I started using my finger nail to scratch them off and my eyebrows started swelling I started scratching my eyebrows to see if I see any and when I scratched opposite of the direction the hair grows a bunch of little white things would come to the surface of my eyebrow hair but doing that made them swell up and numb so much I stared feeling like pressure in my head kinda like sinus presssure. It's so annoying and it kept me awake all night. I'll just be sitting there and I'll feel a tiny tickling feeling on the side of my face, I look in the mirror and there's what looks like a tiny spec of dust on my face. I know it's not dust cause I doubt I would ever be able to feel one spec of dust land on my face. Also I been getting random little bites on my back and stomach that look like little pimples. They don't itch or anything I just feel a tiny bite and when I look I'll see a tiny pimple and they don't just go away after a few hours like bed bug bites or mosquito bites. Also whatever is biting me is smaller than a bed bug. I can feel them crawl I look at the area I feel them crawling and I feel the bite as I'm looking at the area and I will not see anything at all besides a tiny white spec.

Oh yea I forgot to mention the fact that it all started with my hands. My friend had a box of rubber gloves in the attic I put on a pair and when we were done, when I took them off my hands felt like old people hands very dry and paper like. They looked and felt so stranger my knocked were like super wrinkled and felt like my hands had no moisture at all exactly the way elderly people hands feel. It felt so weird that my first thighs was don't tell me I got scabies. But after worrying about scabies for an hour or two I realized it's not scabies because I don't feel any itch at all. I took a shower and when I was ready for bed the whole eyebrow thing started.

Since you were working in an attic, you may have come into contact with bird mites. Bird mites infect birds, their nests, and surroundings. When the baby birds have left the nest, the mites have no food so they migrate to where there is food via people or other animals. If there were birds in or near your friends' attic, that might be your problem. You can purchase Ivermectin 1.87% paste, for oral use in horses, at stores that carry farm/livestock supplies or online. Rub the paste into where your skin itches. I would reapply after bathing.

This is an update to my comment from two years ago. I am still taking a low dose of 100 mg doxycycline once per day. I also used a 1.87% Ivermectin paste, topically, on each lesion for about six months. Another product that seems to help is Selsun Blue medicated shampoo with 1% selenium sulfide (generic). I use this all over my body with a body brush, as well as on my scalp with a shampoo or scalp brush. Nearly all of my lesions have healed, but two that persist on my scalp.Theyt have shrunk to a very small size, so I am hopeful they too will heal soon. I continue to get new lesions, but they are tiny in comparison and will usually heal in two or three weeks, instead of many months. My arms, shoulders, and face are covered with unsightly scars that burn if I'm in the sun more than a few minutes. If anyone knows a method to shrink scars, I would really appreciate that information!
