The year is 1501, you just finished setting your clothes out to dry, and just completed your house duties of the day, to sit and have a cup of tea in the family room. Your mother then says kids! kids! come hither! She points at the window. And oh? what's this? Leonardo Da Vinci is painting a portrait right across the street while he is admired by a few. Good times.
People should know these are music for lute arranged for classical guitar.

No need to make a big deal out of it especially if a person is from that era.
A music lover who plays a Fender Strat, and a Taylor acoustic....but who still wishes he had a lute and knew how to play it. There just is no other instrument that is as 'mentally' relaxing, as the Lute.
Very lyrical, calm, grand, majestic, magnificent and fantastic music, thank you for sharing !
Thank you all for sharing this beautiful music with the public!
This is the classical Renaissance music, polyphonic and complex , natheleess eek relaxing and not less apt to accompany one's literary studies than the medieval one.

I'm currently going through another wave of being sad that the ren faire I work at as a bard is still 3 months away, but this and playing my lute is really helping (though it's not the same without a crowd and the royal court threatening to throw me in the stocks if I play another more bawdy drinking song)

A refreshingly "direct" recording without the misleading cloud of reverb that envelops and thus distorts so many lute recordings.

Which piece begins at 4:17? Sounds like the beginning of a new piece, marvelously uplifting. Would love to know the name.
I believe these are arrangements played on the guitar, and whilst the pieces are beautiful they do not compare with the lute arrangements in many ways.

Just curious, is this in monophonic? It's beautiful regardless. Thanks
@dcamron46
3 жыл бұрын
If i understand the definition of monophonic: sounds like it, basically one main melody, and one additional background. I rarely can catch a note that couldn't be performed by a single lute player along with his voice. Or two lute players together.
Echo de menos los títulos y conocer los autores de cada parte. Les titres et les auteurs de chaque part me manquent. I miss the title and the author of each part.

EXCELENTE!👍
There were not many furniture in those days, the main one was the coffer, then later someone had the idea to add some feets on it ...
This was probably as revolutionary as rock´n´roll was, when it showed up.
I really want to know what is the piece starting at 54:38

From the legendary Renaissance Stand-up Comedian, FERGUS the FOOL: "Greetings, gentlefolk. Say, did you hear the one about the thief who had an obsession for music played on string instruments? He broke Into a Music Store one night and made off with the lute." 😊😑🙁😂😏🙄🤗
