We had an awesome opportunity to dig the outhouse at an 1856 built 3000 square foot house! Tons of history was brought up from the mud!
Жүктеу.....

Site set up is important. Use plywood instead of tarp. Dig stairs as you go down. Take turns in the hole. You buried your friends boots. Never undermine and brace your walls if you go deeper than 5 feet.

A tarp is actually much more practical because as you remove dirt you can pull it in. Stairs can undermine the walls and make collapse more likely and yes. Deeper than 6 feet (especially in wood liners and when it’s wet) we brace the hole. I agree though, site set up is extremely important. We’ll have a big dig going on in about a month you’ll see a lot of planning for

I found this very interesting... but i have a question... how do you determine the dates of the bottles, as well as clean them?

Experience! There’s a lot of specific details on the bottles that tell me what’s what. As far as cleaning, I use bottle brushes, water and a few other types of tools

Absolutely love this content. Do you do this commercially? Do you get paid by the owner of the property to dig in or do you just ask for permission and proceed?

Ask for permission and proceed! Eventually if my channel gets large enough I’ll hopefully have people come to me that are interested in finding things on their property!

Pretty awesome! So I have a question for you. Our farm's bank barn was built in 1901. I know this because there was clay marbles used to spell out 1901. How would i go to find were the privy was?
