I agree, I paid close to $500 for a knife before but it’s a custom hand crafted knife, this is a high end production knife. It’s not worth that. From my understanding Elmax Steel plays a huge role into that, me personally if that was the case I’d be changing steels. Thank you for watching!

@@podunkmissouri4999 check out my survival knife showdown series. I feature the Esee 6 and this in it. I agree I think the Esee smokes the apocalypse and I just test the knives. Not sell them. For the money the Esee 6 is a much better knife I even make the comparison in this video. It’s just slightly annoying having people who haven’t even watched my video hopping onto every comment saying Joe x blah blah blah. And it’s like have you watched my review? I think elmax personally isn’t a good choice of steel for this size of knife

Thanks for this video. I'm still trying to make up my mind on it and whether I should keep mine or not. I like it but I've also got others in this size range that could be better so I could sell it and get other stuff with that money considering how much it costs. It feels like a jack of all trades but not really good at any one thing so it's hard to fall in love with it. I do kind of want to keep it for it's aesthetic beauty as I do like the nice satin grinds on this thing! My main complaint with it is that I wish the handle scales weren't flat. I wish they had both a palm swell and that the end of the handle flared outward toward the sides, not just in height as it already has. I find the sideways outward flare to offer much more security when choking back on the grip for better leverage when chopping. If this knife had both those features I'd absolutely love it and not be considering selling it! As it is, it feels like it can more easily slide out of your hand when choking back and swinging it. I've also wanted to put a nice convex edge on it which could make it cut deeper and better since it'd thin the edge out some but I'm a bit hesitant as I worry about chipping the Elmax under harder use. Only way to know for sure is to try it out but that's a pricy knife to risk chipping the edge or, worse yet, having a blow out! Minor chipping is one thing, but having a blow out is quite another!

@@thelasthuntsmanoutdoors That's a good point. I got mine for $400 so I didn't pay as much as others so I guess I can further appreciate it on that point alone. Besides, I'd like to use it as a test bed for making modified scales for it and then I can really turn it into something special fixing some of my minor gripes with it.

Good review bud! I only now just got to watching it. I didn't want your review to influence my own of course. I am percieving value differently nowadays, and that is the incremental value of an item is dependent on how much that item is used. For the guy who pulls this knife out once a year for a bbq it is REALLY expensive. For the guy who potentially uses it CONSTANTLY for his work or living then $500 is CHEAP, and the things that make it nice can really easily be justified through its constant use. Of course the reality of the knife industry is most knives are owned by folks who will never use them!

I haven’t personally seen it. That being said you can destroy any knife and generally stainless steel doesn’t hold up as good. I think there’s a little bit to take from those tests but not a whole lot. I do like seeing some last quite a bit longer than what you would expect.
