To all the kids who didn’t pay attention in school & criticizing him for recording instead of trying to put it out. He’s not an idiot. You won’t be putting that lithium fire out without a special fire extinguisher & even those aren’t very effective. You’re still going to watch it smolder for a while. Best thing to do if you’re going to run any lithium battery, especially the cheap ones, especially if you’re going to bash with them, is use Velcro straps & carry some wire cutters in your pocket. Snip the wires & knock out the burning batteries while they’re still on fire. It’s not just a fire burning fuel. It’s a chemical reaction that has to run its course.

yup correct, he actually got lucky. it wasn't the batteries just the battery terminals that started other plastic on fire.took me about 10 gallons of water. to get a battery fire out.

It’s burning lithium polymer and composite, not to mention whatever is burning in the ESC, so you’d be likely to poison yourself with marshmallows cooked over this fire.

If it was possible to still drive, you can drive it while it's on fire in order to expel as much chemical energy left in the batteries. This should help the fire to run its course quicker by using up its fuel source - the batteries.

Still cheaper than paying spousal support every month. Loved my toys but had to let go because of separation and spousal support

That shit hit different cause I had a drone battery 5200mah AirOne battery and when I heard the first hissing I grap a bucket of water with rock salt,and put it outside and man it went poof,in smoke from being saltwater.... Call TRAXXAS....

Let me just record it with my phone lol. Gotta secure those batteries. I had a maxx and xmaxx catch fire because the batteries weren't super tight.

Wow. That sucks! I was able to remove one of my lipos that was smoking like that from the my X-Maxx. And I had to remove the roll cage, the body and the I burned it my finger, but I saved it!

Sorry that happened and smart guy for letting it burn I had a lipo explode on my rig and it shot like a rocket and burned my leg as it shot by me so trying to stop the fire could have resulted in a major injury

LiPos are volatile. Regularly balance them, keep a conservative low voltage cutoff, and always monitor temps. Discard them when they start to puff up. Also, these beasts are hard on the batteries.

I had an esc burst into flames. A castle xl x . First thing I did was remove the body and dump a bunch of dirt over it. But I don’t see dirt where you’re at. That’s a tough one.

Was it hot out? Pretty crazy for that to happen to a Traxxas unless you did a failed modification relative to the batteries.

Luckily spare parts for that thing aren't nearly as much as the car. Even the The chassis is shockingly cheap The only real expensive thing that you might have to worry about is probably the ESC and maybe the motor simply because the wires probably melted up pretty good bit The motor itself is probably fine even though it probably got pretty hot in the fire

Awww man that sucks! I have a rc that's been on fire 4 times lol your truck is probably okay just gonna stink forever. Not much to do there but next time if you're using battery straps. Maybe try tipping the rc over dumping the batteries out. Usually the straps will melt fast

FUCK! That sucks man! I can feel it man, happened to me cuz i was testing some cheap banggood lipos on my cheap wltoys once and it caught fire, must suck even more on an xrt, luckily i use good lipos on my x-maxx, man that sucks...... U prob need a new center chassis, battery hold downs, receiver , receiver box, its modular so hsld be an easy but expensive fix though, u shld do a rebuild series in your youtube, its gonne be binge worthy

Ya man, and only in all my Traxxas i never change connectors & use only Traxxas batteries, i just added XRT to my collection. It happen to me once & for now on this is what i do. Sorry man, i hope it is salvageable 💯💯

My esc cause fire last year on my x max. Over amped it. I ran ripped top off and unplugged both my batteries. Only lost the esc

"luckily it's all plastic, hopefully it's mostly salvageable"... What? Maybe the tires and that's it. Everything else is trash. Do you not keep a fire extinguisher in home and car? You should have one in your home for sure, having one in your car is smart as well.

Do you recommend hobbywing? Or should I buy a spektrum firma combo? That’s what I want to get but many people say that the hobbywing is the way to go

Lipo battery’s are very hard to put out because if you spray water it does nothing

The wires get pinched from the front of the battery holder. Sharp corner with 1cm gap. Pinches the battery cables

Man i wish i would have acted faster than i did… what you cant see in the video is im holding my 2 year old daughter so I was concerned about her safety as well as mine cause I wasnt sure if another battery cell was going to steam off or what lol. I finally found some leather gloves and just ripped them out. But man yeah i was in a panic lol I lost my mind I wish I could go back

If you did the connectors which i believe could be the issue i had my max 6 go up in smoke cause i had a loose connection that kept cuttin out and instead of me really looking at it i assumed it was my batteries. I then went and got better batteries cause i was doing speed runs and thought i was getting cut out on long pulls from voltage drop. I got lucky but when i seen the smoke, it was just esc but the batteries were super hot from it. The wire finally heated up and disconnected the connection all the way which i believe saved my batteries. Did anything still work?

considering the fact that he’s just recording it on fire, definitely goes to say he was driving that motor to shit, full throttle only.

If it happens again ever get dirt or water or a big tub like a storage tub and put it over it so it traps it with no 02

the stock electronics were removed because traxxas ESC's stock are garbage. nothing wrong with the motor, but why not go bigger? lol I think you are absolutely correct on that statement tho; too low C rating, it was also really cold out at the time (batteries were cold)

My bro if you can in future keep a bag of sand in the car or whatever and just bury it... Siffocate as much oxygen as you can then hit it with extinguisher... Other iption is burying in sand and wetting slightly it will bake a layer and suffocate ifself if you can cover it ebough... I was trying to retreive metqls out of mobiles and had to learn real fast how to contain a lipo!!!... Bit easier for me just drop in glass jar.. bury... Spray lightly and then let it die out or completely destroy the reaction 😊

My Kraton 8S caught fire yesterday due to a Lipo fire I flip the thing over and shook the shit out of it knocked out battery out so fast minor damages.

Dump a bag of flower on it or a bunch of dirt!!! Ooorrrrrrr just let it burn so you can take a video of it 😂

Shoot this why I won’t buy a Tesla .. I got a maxx and bandit and never got them that hot I could see it happening in the rain or some for sure

Why you didn’t turn it up so down and try and figure out way to get the batteries out I’ll never know

Ouch sorry bud that sucks, for future reference keep a box of baking soda on you while out racing or bashing it, it will put out the flames and save you a little bit of heartache, also not sure if i saw that correct but if you were using adapters on the batteries that is a definite no from me, that can cause a discharge of the lipo i would suggest teaching yourself to solder and buy the correct connections lipos are super volatile and very fickle

This is my biggest fear in the RC hobby, I have never used anything hobby wing or cheap lipos….or adapters……just stay away from the cheap shit and you should be fine!

And this is why I never buy cheap batteries. I'm not saying that's what your case was but cheap batteries just go up in flames all the time and you can't throw water on them because it'll just make the flames worse.
