I bought myself a TRX4 Sport, myself, for my first crawler. I'm usually a high speed basher type, but after buying this, I understand why people enjoy crawlers. I really get it. That thing, even right out of the box, blew away my expectations. I drove it through a local creek with a waterfall and huge rocks. Don't ask me how, but I managed to scale that waterfall, along with the giant rocks at the top. Second crawler run with a crawler.

I flipped my bumper mounts, cut off the trailer hitch, raised my body 1/2 inch, raised running boards with 14mm spacers (no need to cut body), body is so light that top heavy is minimal.. Mostly all free (except for 14mm aluminum spacers).. Am satisfied. goal was free or cheap improvements for a more capable trail rig (not trying to make a mountain goat out of it)..

Cheers for all the great videos - especially the ones on the TRX4 sport (got one myself recently and have already made most upgrades and mods that you suggest). On, for example, the Axial Capra the front tyres take the first impact (instead of bumper and body on the TRX4 sport), which I believe is an advantage in some situations when it's hard to come in at an angle with front/right tyre. What are your thoughts on this?

I have never owned an RC vehicle, (only a couple drones), I watched many of your videos and it came down to the Gen8, Sendero, TRX-4 and decided on the TRX-4, because I think right out of the box there are less concerns (or weak points) that might need addressing.. 1st probably would be the servo but other than that, it should be good to go for most applications.. Most everyone has the red or blue so I decided to go with the tan and am going to put a big tiger face sticker on the hood.. lol..

It doesn’t take away from the looks at all, I personally think it adds to the looks. Are you guys going to do any reviews on the new Spektrum STX3 3-channel radio/receiver combo? The RC4WD Rock sliders you can get from RC4WD in the US and RCBITZ in the UK. The spacers are from linkages or suspension.

I talked you yesterday about installing a castle bec in a sport. I am running 3 20kg servos for a v plow. How do I install the bec. Plug power into the red wire on the side of esc then where does the other wire go? I have the dumbo x6 radio and 5/6 channels are used up. Thanks.

Wiring options are crazy for a BEC. The best is something called a y-connector. Others on youtube have done a good job explaining it and we're not expert at it at the moment.

Install a short servo extension between your esc and bec. 1 cut the RED wire of the servo extension, so the esc doesn't uses it internal bec anymore. But your wiring is still intact if you want to hook it up on a laptop or something. 2. black and red cables from the BEC you have to solder to your battery plug on the esc( so it becomes direct power from your main lipo. 3. Put them Into a free channel. Don't know which bec you have. Above 10a most of the times have 2 wires going into the TX. There are special Y extensions for BEC. Here you can see the wiring to the battery connector.kzread.info/dash/bejne/h6qV17OzZqurqbQ.html

You didnt recommend one of the most important upgrades tires. I will be doing mostly trail crawling as in this video. Mix between dirt, mud and rocks. What all around tire would you suggest for the trx4 Sport? I plan to get metal wheels with beadlocks. I know many like the hyrax predator with dual stage foams for rocks, but is there a better tire that does well in mud and loose dirt as well as rocks?

  • @Madprax

Tires on the TRX4 are one of the LEAST important upgrade cause box stock ones are excellent polyvalent tires ;) Just change the foams cause they wear fast and become too soft. / Hair donuts at 1€ piece are fine , cause im not so stupid for buying their f***ing 40€ branded ones.

Most of these upgrades are either free or very low cost, and increase ability of the truck so much that you're kinda silly if you don't do them, unless you just like running stock, which is perfectly cool, too.

i personally modified the stock tray, turned it sideways at the lowest point of the middle part of the chassis. chopped up the tray a bit for fitment. it now sit lower and more centered than the stock location. and for sliders i use nothing. the body i use ( honcho cab woth vaterra ascender truggy cage) fits perfectly without sliders. the electronics trays act like sliders and dont stick out as much as sliders do. I have never used a bowhouse personally, but many videos out there show how it does add much more in improving the HCG of the stock tray, made by 1 degree in incline better, not worth the $20 or so dllrs imo, best invested in something else, just my opinion of course. May i add i do love that esc and motor combo you have, cant wait to get me one. 👍👍🤟🏽
