Yeah, people are not very aware of the wheelbase difference but it is a big deal in terms of body compatibility.

Great review of this sweet truck. I actually had the side marker lights and tail lights disassembled on my Bronco today. I painted the light buckets silver for them so that they look more realistic and they’ll reflect the lights better than the unpainted black buckets once the light kit is finally released and installed, I’ve already installed the power module and rock lights.

Nice explanation ;) Saw another video, don`t remember the channel unfortunately, but the dude installed something like a 7700kV motor and did speed runs with it, worked out very well IMO. seems like a VERY versatile vehicle! I`m torn between this and a wraith, which are two very different vehicles, but the bottom line for me is, how challenging will my crawling really be, and can I go with a scale vehicle like this, sacrificing some size and "bash-ability", or should I go with something like a wraith, that frankly has more options, for the practicality, and let go of the coolness factor of a scaler.. Or save up and get both :D

I have both, the trx-4 is a better crawler for my rocks due to ground clearance and narrower track.

I pulled the Plastic Strap off, and added a Velcro Strap from Axial.

New to this so Please forgive me on the Stupid questions, But at 4:20 you talk about locking diffs is that the Bronco climbing that incline with a Different Body on it or a diff truck ?? confussed ! LOL

Where did you get the older bronco body?

I picked up the Bronco and had a quick question. When starting off fast in high gear from a stop and making the truck wheelie it has a LOT of body twist going on regardless of the diff locks being on or off. Is that normal or is something wrong? It's brand new but I thought the portals were supposed to eliminate that twist.

That is unusual. There is torque twist but it should be less than any other vehicle in the market. The thing to check is that your shock springs are seated ok and that it has shock oil. The shock heavy damping usually eliminates any of the visible body twist.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes springs are seated correctly and all adjusted evenly except the LF being stiffer which in the manual it says is to compensate for the motor weight. I've been trying to find a video to compare mine with. If you take yours out for another video please check how yours does. By the way I mean I have the body twist on pavement. Offroad it isn't really noticeable when there's wheel spin. Thanks again.

love your honest review! i just got myself a bronco trx4. love it, but ran in to a small problem. the car drives kind of weird when max steering either left or right. when steering and max and add throttle. the wheel chatters and seems rotating with resistance, is that normal? do you have any cure if there's something run with it. thank you so much!

That's definitely not normal. The first thing to check is the steering servo endpoints. The radio needs to be adjusted so the servo doesn't try to past its limits.

Isnt that just because of the diffs being locked?

I know this is an old video...just wondering how this compares to the Redcat Gen 8 Axe? They’re similar in price. Redcat has the better radio, servo, and power system. Traxxas has the better chassis, body, more features, more speed. 🤷🏽‍♂️ I cant decide...don’t get to drop $500 on an RC very often so I want to pick the right one. Any advice welcome!

The Redcat is a much, much better value. The Traxxas is a better drivetrain and is more ready for abuse and high speed brushless. At these prices, the vote goes to Redcat Axe. Performance is about the same.

Mikey Fourbarrel I want to add... in terms of dollar initial expense... sure the Redcat has enough ability and features to seem to be better bang for the buck. But IMHO it stops there. There is absolutely NO comparison between the 2 in terms of support, service parts and aftermarket support. The sky is the limit with Traxxas. Redcat makes a cool product and is great for getting into the hobby but more can be had, fixed and accomplished with Traxxas. The additional ground breaking features of remote locking diffs and 2 speed trans then make it an obvious choice. Again just my opinion though. But if you can afford the price tag of the Traxxas top in class rig then all that extra money for the initial purchase is MORE than justified and worth it.

What batteries fit in the front tray?

Is the blue and white early bronco on a TRX Chassis? If so, is it the shorter wheelbase?

The blue and white 73 Bronco is actually on a TRX4 Defender chassis with 12.8 inch wheelbase. Since the 73 Bronco by Proline is 12.3 inches, the wheel wells had to be cut significantly (to the bumpers) to work. Bumpers had to be removed too. Works well though!

The tires/wheels have to be sealed. The motor should be brushless so it's sealed. The esc/receiver need to be waterproof or sealed with conformal coating. Or put them inside a bag/balloon
