Traxxas Slash 4x4 racing setup (race tuning guide)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I have a full thread on how to tune your Traxxas Slash 4x4 for racing on the Traxxas forums. It's a 13-step guide and I walk through what the various adjustments are for and what I recommend in terms of tuning to get the most out of your Traxxas Slash 4x4. Check out the whole tuning guide at:

    Hello world, I.e., RazorRC! Please be advised, if you're reading this, I'm a VERY experienced hobbyist and while I'm NOT trying to brag with my sentiments, I wanted to give an adequate foundation about the why, what, where, and when pertaining to these tutorials being beyond helpful. I'm lucky enough to do this for a living, E.g., I work for AMain Hobbies - easily the best online resource for kits, parts, etc. - and am lucky enough to be a sponsored driver. I'd be lying if I stated that I don't reference these videos for both my personal and professional lives. They're THAT helpful and it prepares a person to not only work on their RTRs but to prepare for a full race spec kit as well. MAJOR kudos to RazorRC! Thank you for producing the most helpful and well-filmed tutorials in a sea of imitators.

    Thanks! That means a lot, and I personally feel Amain is by far the #1 online RC store bar none and have been using them for long before this channel has been around. I talk to Brett once in awhile, say "hi" for me. Appreciate the views!

    Great info. Most beginners have a slash 2wd or 4wd so thanks you just helped out a huge group of people that need help. I started with slash platforms and I now have ae and tlr and the one great thing about the slash is you don’t have to worry about parts being discontinued because the new model just came out. I believe I’ll be dead and the traxxas slash parts will still be the same and available. One more thing, it’s very fun beating friends that have a racing platform with a slash

    This is very educational but since every track condition is different even the same track can change depending on time of a day there is no real track set up guide. Multiple factors come into effect when it comes to track set up from tires, shocks angles, shock oils, differential fluids, toe angles, ride height, pinion gear, and it can change on the track and conditions of the track. So when it comes to set up it all comes down to trial and error and asking the fellow racers what they use and hope they share their experiences and knowledge

    Hi Razor RC, thanks for the video. I have also done the nice thing to read the full topic on the Traxxas site. Incredible how much effort and time you put into this. I am only an amateur myself and do not compete. For me it is "just for fun". However, I want to thank you, because of your input I can drive a bit faster and my car handles much better. THANK YOU and lots of respect. Sorry for my bad English. I am from Belgium.

    I'm trying to do this too but the shock won't go on. It collides with the camber link since the rear shock tower can only go on backwards on the front due to the way it grooves into the front diff carrier. So the upper standoffs built into the tower are on the inside. So the angle of the shock collides with the camber link. How did you guys get around this?

    The only solution I see is putting the link on the inside part of the shock tower which now has the camber link at an angle and close to the driveshafts... please help

    Step One: Get an SC6.1 In my experience, the Slash is a fun truck to bash but it’s a money pit. No regrets buying one but in hindsight would not have spent so much trying to upgrade it.

    i have my slash 4x4 set up fairly well, basically this set-up everything except for the rear shocks in the front. is there a huge improvement with this? cornering or mostly landing or both? the position you reccomend really lays them down. right now i have the front gtrs with the ends unscrewed a few turns to get a little more length from thwm

  • @RazorRC

    @RazorRC

    Kyle Ewert it helps a ton on landing by avoiding the chassis slapping so much, the regular shocks are too short and meant for a Bandit. It also lets you use the stiffer SCTE front springs which work a lot better than anything that fits the short front shocks.

    If you're trying the XXL shocks in front with rear shock towers, there's some important info to know. You have to mount the camber links to the inside of the shock tower (chassis side) for the shock to clear it. The camber link will be at an angle but still works normally, although it is close to the driveshaft. Also, the body posts will be slightly off for stock bodies, but you can force them into position w/o much trouble.

    I have a traxxis slash 4x4 with LCG chassis, sway bars, proline shocks, chassis brace, savox servo, adjusted all end points etc and still the truck sucks on my local carpet track. Went through everything bearings, a arm move free, trained various shock settings and oils. The truck just doesn't turn worth a dam. I am now running an xray xb2 carpet buggy so it doesn't matter as much but I will say my totally stock arrma senton with changes to shock mounting and oil corners waay better than the traxxis.

    Hi.. I have been following you for a while... new in the hobby but looking for more race performance... I have a tekno eb48.4 and a slash 4x4 ultimate. I have made all the upgrades you have described sofarmy home track is offroad with normally dust and bumpy surface inwould say mid bite. Would you share any setupsheet for this conditions? Tks a lot.

    I don’t have an ET48, but if you’re struggling with traction on the Slash you could try a little softer springs, maybe 50k in the center diff, or try the aluminum 4deg rear hubs.
