Just one thing. Thermal shutdown happens at the ESC, and the ESC only measures ESC temps. Unless, like my xmaxx, there is a temperature sensor on the motor. That alum plate will help motor temps, but will not prevent the ESC from going into thermal shutdown. The main reason for the aluminum motor plate, is to prevent the motor screws from digging into the old plastic motor plate, and deforming the plastic motor mount. The heat sink effect is just a bonus that helps motor temps. I friggin love that Traxxas made this awesome upgrade. It's about 10 years overdue, but it's finally here and thanks for the review👍

Got to love the vxl thermal shut down lol those esc's are juuuuuunk!! Really all there electronics are imo. It's funny how they came out with a tranny after proline did and is more expensive then proline version. They still didn't update the slipper though. Silly traxxas🤦‍♂️

@@jeffbryner5355 ive never had issues with either the 1st or second gen vxl escs. i see tons of people that do though. i was always consious of gearing it correctly, and constantly checking motor and esc temps. what problems did you have with it? most companies stock electronics are crappy. what makes any other company any better than traxxas???

@@ragsixracing I had a buddy that had a vxl esc that wouldn't even last a 4 min heat race without over heating and shutting down. It was in a associated b6. That same night with the same car and same gearing he put a tekin rs pro in it and a year later there still has been no problems. For the money the system is not worth it. The 3800 sw4 castle system is cheaper amd way more tunability the the vxl esc.. every Traxxas I have including the spartan has hobbywing castle or tekin in it. As far as rtr goes my reedy electronics out of my sc10 have been way more dependable then my xl5 or vxl systems. They are actually in my sons slash right now. Running 3s

Traxxas uses 500k wt because this was Primarily built for drag racing & anything under 500k isn't thick enough, last thing you want when drag racing is one wheel spinning faster than the other, another reason they made the diff door is for Drag racing, we change out diff weight fluids like changing diapers 🤙🏼💯🏁

Can i use it with Robinson racing spur?

Did they change any of the gear ratios? I'd think that's pretty crucial to know for rollout gearing, especially on a drag type of application.

They just came out with that gearbox on Bandit vxl & others for extra 70 bucks , diff looking wheels & graphics as well. Bandit Magnum & might just pull the trigger on it . i never have enough Bandits . TY for the view.

What is the chopped Allen key bullet proofing method?

@@NikkiNexo777 I tapped the gear off between two wood tables with a screw driver, then dremeled a cheap Allen key that was about the size of the hole for my shaft roll pin. I then stuffed the cut Allen key into the hole and ground off the edges so they wouldn’t stick out and make contact with other gears. It’s held up for 4 years now on a rustler running 3s and tires too heavy for its own good. My bearings in that tranny died so o took the shaft and threw it into a new one

I have a rustler that I been thinking about buying a new transmission

No the bearing size and width of the new diff prevents it from fitting.

Also if the transmission ratio was different it wouldn't be called 272 anymore lol. 272 stands for 2.72:1

Will the new sealed differential itself fit into the old transmission housing? Can somebody confirm this?

I’ve seen a Slash 2WD VXL TRA58076-4 on websites labeled differently. Is info labeled 272 magnum different from 272R?

The dead giveaway is the aluinium plate for the motor. 272m uses meatal gears over the basic plastic from years ago. 272m and the 272r are 2 diffent trannys... too much to list all the diffences

Do they sell the slipper clutch shaft itself?

Toe in toe out & camber is set through your links, this transmission however does have built in kick up, roughly 3 degrees which is darn good to get them drag wheels biting!!

Not worth it for the price. Just spend the 10$ on the shaft or replace the the roll pin with a piece of Allen key it's hardened n it won't break ever again.

Over a hundred dollars for that what a rip off go with rpm way cheaper and looks the same
