I love how this cutscene recreates Killer7's terrible sound balancing as well. When Suda recreates something, he's ridiculously good at getting the smallest flaws right.

It's either a cameo or a retcon because killer7 by definition cannot exist in NMH, or any other Suda game's world by default. In killer7, the internet and planes are banned, and NMH's plot progressing in real time makes it impossible to be a straight up prequel to killer7.

@@whiteblacklight9603 Killer7 also plays with multiple realities, and one immortal Assassin so not necessarily. In fact, if Travis Bell were say, a previous incarnation of Travis (with touchdown being a reincarnation) you would see things on loop. It's obviously a retcon as Capcom held all the rights to Killer7 but there are definite ways to spin this. I mean a possible Avatar of Emir is in NMH etc. Planes and Internet stuff could timeline wise still be in the Future or something. It isn't impossible to spin this considering how batshit both continuities are

So many nice moments in this opening. Killer7 and NMH finally being tied into the same universe. Dan acknowledging Travis is the champ “above ground,” while his tone dismisses him in contrast to all the NMH2 assassins. Dan not killing Shigeki, instead giving him everything he needs and basically saying, “Get your revenge because I better not have died for nothing.” Basically, Dan’s just the coolest dude in this opening. Good freaking directing, suda51, you maniac.

@@mb2001 no I think it means he was in an ICU trip in the DLC it explains that so basicly he was heading to the hell before hell and Dan had a contract to kill him but he chose not to instead revive him to kill Travis and that's why he awakens kills the guy who originally killed him and live his life after he died twice then try and kill travis

I almost wish there'd be a secret, bonus fight against one of the Smiths after the credits like against Henry in NMH1. And to make it crazier, the entire gameplay would go back to NMH style combat.

I love that Suda is constantly referencing Killer7, he can't let it go, but knows a sequel wouldn't hold up to the original, so doesn't make one. Easily his magnum opus.

Suda is dying to make a sequel of Killer7, but he knows he can't because Capcom owns it. Although, he could talk it out with them.

I wish that the old intro played right after this new one because that one is super cool and it adds context to how Travis and Badman got in the game. Sure this adds the “how” to Badman being able to find Travis, but it doesn’t explain the “how” of how both are suddenly buddy buddy and how they both got sucked into the game. EDIT: The old into will play if you let the title screen idle after the new intro finishes. I still think that they should edit the two together in some way, it’d just make the whole thing more convenient.

Michael Bishop sure, but something as easy as splicing two really cool clips together to give context at the beginning doesn’t sound like it’s done intentionally, it’s more of a “we didn’t think to do that” feeling that makes the initial experience more confusing than it has to be.

I think this takes place post k7 since, mills is a remnant psyche, Curtis is dead, and the fact that Dan can see and or hear Mills at all shows that hes still in the Smith syndicate. He died during the black smiles, but since Harman and Kun always come back, Harman will likely always reincarnate the smiths to work with him again, even if it's against their will. In summary, this shit DENSE

@@Momon143 Well, you are right. The world in K7 is just not compatible with the world in NMH for multiple geopolitical reasons. So either its not supposed to make sense or Dan and Bad Man were hopping dimensions.

No, Dan was killed in the Union Hotel. This is the Celtic building, the apartment complex that was killer7's first level. Probably. Don't remember the secret elevator of style being there.

Yeah, with the ending of killer7, Mills becomes a remnant psyche. He's probably the new informant, and with the fact that he can see and communicate with him at all proves that post k7 dan is still in the Smith syndicate. This is probably the 3rd rendition, too.

I know i said this in other video of this intro but i like to get some feedback from you fans regarding the context between Killer7 & No More Heroes. As i mentioned, Killer7 ended in 2011 when Garcian became Emir at the Union Hotel. Travis Strikes Again most likely take place in 2019 with all the indie gaming reference and modern day trend, so that mess up the timeline for Killer7 unless Suda bring some explanation in interviews or lead an extra story content to clarify it in the dlc. I understand is a "Suda" thing and Killer7 has a very complex narrative but killer7 at least has enough context to justify it's chaotic nature of a story. Even though i am happy that killer7 gets some love. I hope Suda can address this at some point in the near future. So guys please leave comments below and i love to see your perspective on this and that hopefully will bring some clarity.

TSA seems to be happening during the events of 25th Ward, so I don't know if events of Killer7 have happened yet, plus TSA kinda implies that almost entirety the Grasshopper-verse is happening simultaneously, kinda already breaking canon, except: SotD and LiD, that are games (second is also hapening later); FS&R, that is kinda not yet happening chronologically and happens in isolated place, or might be added in DLCs; Lollipop Chainsaw, that is nowhere (yet, also might be in DLCs) to be found; Diabolical Pitch, that already happened; and some other stuff people don't remember as well, like Contact or Michigan (I don't think I got all references though). I also think you guy might be thinking slightly too deep about it, a lot of games retcon stuff, and, despite me wishing for this universe to be real, a lot of games just do references for fun.

Games do references for fun but this one specifically is too deep and deliberate to just write off as a goofy thing. Bad Man being Shingeki Birkin VERY DIRECTLY ties some version of k7 and No More Heroes together at the very least. (Also Suda doesn't have the rights for Lollipop Chainsaw so that's why it doesn't really show up)
