Created in 1977, The World's Strongest Man™ has become the premier event in strength athletics. For over 30 years, the strongest men on the planet have come together in a series of unique and amazing tests of strength to determine The World's Strongest Man. The competition has travelled to stunning and varied locations such as Zambia, Iceland, Mauritius, Malaysia, Morocco, China and the USA.
For over three decades The World's Strongest Man has tested the limits of human strength, power, and endurance. The best strongmen on the planet and the most demanding challenges including Fingal's Fingers, Truck Pull, Dead Lift, Giant Farmers Walk, Plane Pull and the Atlas Stones have made the event a highlight in the TV calendar and the show a family favourite with a worldwide audience of over 220 million people.

Travis Ortmayer is one of life's great guys. This is a great video WSM. Thanks for making such an in-depth piece on Travis. He is a fighter and although he is getting older - he is a man on a mission and no matter what he does in strongman now, he is already a champion and always will be. Lets hope his son gets to hear about this one day and they can be reunited again. Good Luck Travis!

He truly is a great man. I’ve went through a similar situation and didn’t see my daughter for years because of drugs she’s 12 now but I’m back in her life and getting back involved in strongman just signed up for my first novice competition in August. I started competing when I was 15 and met Travis and his dad at nas nationals his dad was in the masters division. They invited my mom and I out to eat afterwards and paid for everything. I’ll never forget that day. I haven’t competed in 14 years but it’s never to late been clean for almost 6 years now. Travis is real idle and inspiration. Thank you for this video. I love strongman!

I spoke to travis on the phone one time, inquiring about coaching… He was so genuine and so sincere in his interest in seeing his athletes succeed. He gave me form advice and insight on injury even after I told him I couldn’t afford coaching, simply because he loves to care.

I only came here to gather picture references for a sculpture of a strongman, as an artist, and damn, I was really left on my ass connecting with that person. Ortmayer is truly a great inspiration and example of unwavering willpower, discipline and perseverance, a model of reference for everyone.

At my very first nas teen nationals when I was 16 Travis’s dad was competing in the masters division. I spotted Travis over cheering his dad on I mean he wasn’t hard to miss lol but I mustered up enough courage to go over and talk to him and his dad. They are some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. After our competition Travis offered me and my mom out to dinner at a great pizza and steak place. We had great conversation and ate a ton. At the end of dinner we were getting ready to pay our bill and Travis picked up the bill and paid everything and told me to keep at it. I’ll always remember him he’s always been an idle of mine now even more so because I also into drugs opioids in particular and anything else I could get. I quit competing and lost everything. Went to rehab 3 times. I’m now 31 been clean for almost 6 years getting back in my daughter’s life and I just signed up for my first novice mens strongman competition in August. It’s never to late. People may judge Travis but he’s a absolutely great person and very humble. Some of the best most humble people I’ve known are strongmen. I love the sport I love the lifestyle and I love the comradeship. To be a true strongman is not just being physically strong but strong in all areas of our lives. 🇺🇸💪🇺🇸❤️
