    Hi guys. I am enjoying your videos which you do very well. I have a connection to some of the places where you go and thought I would comment on a couple of things. My name is Trevor Dodds and I live in Toowoomba. In 1981 to 83, I was the Senior Constable of Police stationed at Windorah. Sigmund Remenko was the Polish guy that owned and ran the Betoota pub. My boundary with the Birdsville policeman was just on the western side of Betoota. The Betoota pub was just in my area. He had been a grader driver for the Diamantina Shire previously. Simon, as we knew him, was the only soul at Betoota along with an old pensioner guy who slept on a steel cot outside the front of the pub. Mt Leonard station over the road was owned by Ashley Daley at the time. Simon told me that he had been in the polish army at the start of the war and they were overrun and imprisoned fairly quickly. He would tell people I was his boss as I periodically had to inspect the pub for the licensing commission. Anyway, he said when he was in the prison camp, the Germans would try and trick you to go near the wire. If they shot and killed you, they would get a few days off to seemingly "get over it.". Simon got into a dispute a few years before with the managers at Mt Leonard over mail collection and a gun was involved. He was ordered to leave the area and did so for sometime retreating back to Adelaide where he was involved with the Polish club and community there. The pub was ransacked during that time and closed but he returned later and commenced work again. I'll put some comments for you on the Gayndah page also as it is my home town. When you stood on Mt McConnell lookout, looking back along the Burnett river, I grew up on an orange orchard just below there. Incidentally, my eldest son is FIFO at Windorah. He works on the gas line that goes Northwest to the Mt Isa power station. He's there now. Cheers. Trevor.

    Not only did they find the bodies of Burke and Wills but they were exhumed and returned to Melbourne for burial. You can visit the sites of their death. We didn’t see Wills’s site but we did see the tree under which Burke died off what is now the Innaminka road heading into South Australia. The only survivor of the four who made the dash to the Gulf_ King, was found living with the people who rescued him. He reportedly had a daughter whose descendants still live in the area and celebrate his rescue/ departure on 15 September each year at the famous dig tree site. I believe that the female lineage still retain some of King’s possessions. The exact detail may elude my memory but I think I have the basics correct.

    You guys need to break a small branch off a Gumtree and use it to swish the flies away, is your rear window on the ford broken, why all the tape. It's always the heavy draw that comes out, on a bounce the lock drops and the draw comes out. Keep up the good work guys.

  • @onlyleavingfootprints

    Gum tree what a good idea. No the window is not broken, our friends window smashed while caravanning just before we left so to prevent it happening to us we taped that on for protection. The drawer, I get that about the heaviness, but I think my top drawer would be heavier because we only have plastic plates and bowls etc in middle drawer plus a few coffee cups (one did break). Thanks for watching 👀

    Hey, Jon, how does the Ranger go towing? We are looking at buying a new tow vehicle next year.....no pressure mate just give your honest opinion. We are looking at the Ranger or the Isuzu

  • @onlyleavingfootprints

    @onlyleavingfootprints

    7 ай бұрын

    Hi David, the Ranger tows beautifully. I would suggest getting the 3.2 motor as it has more power then the dmax but I have heard the dmax motor is a bit more reliable. But whatever you do don't get the motor tuned because that's when you start having problems.
