    Thank you for this helpful video :) you did mention that you made $800 in camp America and brought $150 in cash with you, was the money you earned enough to cover your entire trip, or did you get extra money from your family for a vacation?

  • @MaisieCraddock

    @MaisieCraddock

    Hey! No problem at all, thank you for watching! I’d say obviously it depends on how much you want to travel/where you want to go but the majority of the money you earn from camp should cover the trip. But if poss save as much as you can for extra spending money / emergency money. Maybe an extra £400 - £500 would be a good shout if possible (obviously if you don’t spend it then it’s a bonus)! Just plan your travels around how much you can spend x

  • @MaisieCraddock

    Hey! I struggled lugging my case around to be honest as I took such a hard case to wheel around so I'd suggest getting the ones with 4 wheels that are easy to wheel! I never noticed the charges being crazy but we only got 2 internal flights and the rest were coaches etc which made it easier and cheaper!

    how much money do you recommend taking with you to america?

  • @MaisieCraddock

    @MaisieCraddock

    2 жыл бұрын

    I’d save as much as you can but you don’t need much cash. Just have it most of it on your card/dollar card. You’ll need around £700-£800 to apply to Camp America and get placed and then I’d say if you’re going to travel after then having another £800-£1000 saved would be amazing to give you flexibility. However, you will get paid from camp so you could just save £500 spending money and then use your camp money to travel (which will be around £700 or more) I’d probs just take about $100 cash and you can always get more out if needed x

    @@MaisieCraddock thanks for responding. So does that £100 include flights to and from America? And sorry to be a pain but I have a close friend and cousin living near Grand Rapids in Michigan and was wondering if we were able to choose what camps we are wanting to go to so I’m able to be closer to them and also reduce the travel distance after camp. Also are there any discounts involved when you book a flight with Camp America (how can I view the flights with Camp America ) thank you

  • @MaisieCraddock

    @MaisieCraddock

    @@forza3212 so I did Camp America in 2018 so things may have changed since then and with Covid too but that £100 was additional to the Camp America fee which is like £700 (roughly). The Camp America fee includes a return flight from NYC but the additional £100 is so then you can fly back from different airports across the country. If you have some camps in mind then you could ask Camp America if they are part of their scheme or ask them if they have camps near Michigan before you sign up to them. You could apply to the camps directly but this is complicated as a first timer as you won’t have the guidance from CA. Also yes I think CA do offer a discount when you look at how much that £700 will cover for the summer. You’ll only be able to view the flights as you proceed with the application but there’s nothing stopping you from asking these questions to CA before you sign up. They have a Facebook messenger page which they response quickly too. Hope this helps x

    Honestly don’t worry! Everyone feels like that before you go but as soon as you get there, everyone is on the same boat and wants to make friends so you will do! Just go with the flow, don’t panic about getting it sorted straight away - just focus on making good friendships first 🥰
