Join me on my trip to Jakarta, the vibrant capital of Indonesia! I’ve been living in Toronto, Canada for over 5 years now, and it was refreshing to return to Indonesia and enjoy the delicious food and the warm weather. One thing that surprised me was how expensive everything has become. For those of you who’ve never been to Jakarta, or Indonesia, this video can hopefully give you a glimpse into Jakarta, how much it costs to travel there, and whether it’s worth visiting! 🇮🇩 #TravelIndonesia #JakartaVlog #livingincanada

    If you are a foreigner in Indonesia, if you want culinary delights, look for a comfortable, clean restaurant and of course the price of a street food restaurant is very different from a comfortable and clean restaurant because street food does not require rent and most (not all) street food is clean. less, because there are people everywhere in the world who are financially sufficient and there are those who are financially inadequate, so it depends on your finances where you want to visit for culinary delights, in Jakarta there are lots of restaurants ranging from lower class to upper middle class depending on your finances where you want to eat, but anyway for Foreign tourists are advised to look for restaurants that are comfortable and safe because the price of food in Indonesia, even though it is in a classy restaurant, is much cheaper than in countries with high currencies such as the dollar, euro or pound sterling ($, €. £) or Yen (¥)

    I was born in Medan city, graduated from State University of Medan, then moved and became a Jakarta Citizen for almost 20 years and brought a house here. For me, Jakarta is just a place to work, routine office days, not for holidays, and quite boring. Maybe because my background is as a hiker, I'm a nature traveler typical, and maybe because the working vibes in Jakarta. That's why I always spend my holiday back to Medan and Toba which have the best foods in Indonesia. Sometimes to Bali, Lombok, Manado or visiting my sister in East Kalimantan. I do some overseas traveling every year, but only for business trips from my office, not personal trips.

    @@avorfm1964 I went to West Java (Bandung, Bogor, etc) several times. I was visiting my family, some because of business trip to visit our branch office. For hiking maybe, but I'm not into agri tourism like in West Java. For me artificial agri tourism is for kids or for old people. And the food in West Java is average, some tasted boring, sorry. Maybe because I born and grew in Sumatra, my palate used to eat "rich taste" and delicious foods like from Medan, Padang, Bali or Manado.

    Yes, inequality in Indonesia is still large. You can see slum area with shacks as residential houses in the corners of the city, but you can also find not just a house but some kind of luxury manssion with a large luxury building,with large private swimming pool, a large terrace yard, fenced with tall luxurious ornaments like an embassy office and even guarded by several security guards at the guard post in front of the house. But basically every necessity of life that needs to be purchased is divided into many categories of sellers (at least 4 categories) for example: For food there are 4 sellers, the expensive one is premium restaurant in elite business complexes and in elite malls, medium restaurant and also depot (kind of small restaurant and not luxury), and what's interesting is street food, which has 3 more sub-categories at the budget level which generally exist in many parts of Jakarta or other cities of Indonesia, namely, mobile food sellers with carts, street food stalls on the side of the road , even warteg (its means smaller warung/smallest food stall without a place to eat, just for take away) is really really very cheap, you can buy a full portion of meal for only USD1. Of course, the same goes for clothing sellers, convenience stores, mini marts, even malls also have lots of categories like that.

  • @handaxia1251

    @handaxia1251

    A big fan of Warteg here, super cheap, many kind of dishes, even coffee, super humid inside with a hint of frying oil in the air. Find one with a lot of flies flying around, those pesky insects will boost your immunity. How I love living in a tropical developing country, the perks are just too many. Sorry for you hairy people with apocrine glands, you will smell like rotten snake carcass inside in a couple of minutes, so stay away from me for you will ruin my appetite.
