I hope life has been well lately.
Summer has come to an end and it is late October.
🚗We’ll go for a long drive in rural France towards our home in Andorra.
From the region of Brittany in the northwest, we reached the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in southwest France. It is the largest region in the country.
📍We stopped by the department of Dordogne, which is also known as Périgord (a former province). It is one of the most beautiful departments in France.
Périgord is an ancient land with rich history and amazing natural scenery.
There are four Périgords in the Dordogne department.
🌲 "Périgord Vert" (Green Périgord)
🏰 "Périgord Blanc" (White Périgord),
🍇 "Périgord Pourpre" (Purple Périgord)
⚫️ "Périgord Noir" (Black Périgord)

🏰On the way, we discovered a quaint chateau in a sleepy french town called Marueil.
👣Later on, we took a walk in one of the prettiest places in Dordogne.
🪷A place full of history and breathtaking scenery called Brantôme-en Périgord aka the Venice of Périgord.🛶
⛪️The Abbey of Brantôme (Abbaye de Brantôme) is also situated along the banks of the river Dronne and it is here where we find troglodyte dwellings or caves inhabited by mankind since the neolithic times. The Benedictine monks also lived in these caves before expanding the abbey with the help of King Charlemagne. Here we also find the Church of Saint Pierre with the oldest bell tower in France.
🍁October is a beautiful time to visit since it is not very crowded.
The best part is the magnificent colors of autumn that make the village seem like it is from a painting.👩🏻‍🎨
