Almost forgot...the north shore of Mono Lake is where the film "High Plains Drifter" starring Clint Eastwood was filmed. Even though the town (which the townspeople painted red in the film before the arrival of the bad guys) has been torn down and removed, if you're familiar with the film, the site and shoreline are very recognizable. And...Frank Capra (the famous director) had a house along the shore of Silver Lake in the June Lake Loop. You can't really get an upclose because the road to the homes is private, but you see many of the homes from the loop road across the lake.

Love the drive up the east Sierra on Hwy 359, such gorgeous mountains! I remember staying at June Lake several years ago, and it rained every day LOL.. Rain is wonderful, but it kept us from doing some of the hikes we wanted to. Looks like beautiful weather at Tahoe.

I love that drive. I usually make the trip with my cousins to fish at June Lake and the surrounding lakes, so know the road up 395 well. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to make the trip in the last few years due to COVID and work situations. I really miss it. Especially Schat's. Always loved Frosty Chalet as well. Have you tried Copper Top BBQ in Big Pine? Excellent BBQ. When you arrived in Bishop, you stopped at Vons Gas?!?! Around the bend is a Piute Indian Casino with a gas station on the property. That is always the cheapest gas in the Bishop area. Also, in Lee Vining, there is a little place called Nicely's. It's a little diner. Best fried chicken deal around. You should give them a try on the return trip.

Lake Tahoe is one of my favorite places in Northern California to visit. The sights and sounds of the mountains are so beautiful. The beaches are wonderful and I could sit there for hours listening to the waves hitting my feet. I want to check out Walker Burger one day. It looks like a place of it's kind with the windmills and picnic areas.

The coaster is so fun! We are about a 2 hour drive up Sonora pass to the Lake. We go for lunch at Ski Run Marina. Yummy.

I'm local to Tahoe...Basecamp is wonderful...in fact, there's another location along Hwy 50 called Wally's in Cameron Park...different name, same menu. However...do check out Tahoe Ale Worx at the Y....

Heading up 395 and camping at twin lakes out of Bridgeport this Friday! Gonna be gone for a week. Can't wait! Places like walker burger, mono cone, and frosty chalet are the best! Also love all the small towns like lone pine, big pine, independence, and bishop. Have u guys ever been to Virginia city in Nevada? If not, u guys need to check it out! It's only a little less than an hour and a half from Tahoe!

Walker Burger is great! Don’t forget Whoa Nellie Deli at The Mobil in Lee Vining. Gourmet level food with a glass of wine or beer overlooking Mono Lake. What else could you want for a quick roadside stop?!

I love Tahoe my second home my second favorite place too from DL. Base camp pizza is really good but when your dtd go to Splitsville they have another one of the best pizzas I always have to take one home! The all meat and we add olives and extra cheese.I’ll be in tahoe next week! Then a couple weeks after DL our keys expires on the 26th😢

A few days ago, my husband, kids (two under 3 years old), and I drove back home to so cal from Oregon, and I totally wanted to go the long way to check out Frosty Chalet 😂

I love Frosty Chalet too and Mono Cone in Lee Vining is excellent as well. I ate at Stellar Brew at least 3 times a week when I worked in Mammoth. Next time you come through Bishop, try Great Basin Bakery. It's usually where the locals go. I would love to know what Katie would think of the Pumpkin Pie Chai at Looney Bean (my mom likes it blended). It's my favorite drink there and I love that I can get it year round. We love your videos. Safe travels and have fun in Tahoe.
